@NGS428 - I chased the crap out of that Jorge Bell card back in 1982 - yours looks like a 10 !!
Another Duncan in my run.
pop 1. 0 higher or lower!
happy april fools day, guys!
Nice! I was watching that one, but held off on bidding, and ended up buying the PSA 9 Bell that ended the following day. It should be arriving in a day or 2.
What a small world.. Can’t wait to see it!

Now that the set registry checklists have been updated added 4 new items to my Nomar registry. Have a bunch of re-slabs in to PSA that will be a while that also can be added when returned. . The Holo Purple i thought had a shot at a 10- happy with the Mint 9. Most Pacific cards are torture on getting Gem 10 on. Most Elite PC come out damaged those packs suck. The EX and TT Prime sat forever til I decided to protect them.

My mail day.

In a 50`s mood lately and picked 2 big cards ... 52 high number and the 59 is a low pop with 7 in a 9 and only 1 in 10
2004 spx
1989 topps psa 10
1959 phillies
Phillies of the 70's
After selling my 1960s 5-cent wax pack run (13 packs) plus doubles (1962, 1964, 1968) rated #2 on the PSA Registry at the time...I decided to go on a buying spree:
@mintonlypls - JUICY!! Woot Woot!!
I like Patrick’s angel wings.
Yep my Mahomey
Just got these back from BBCE.
Most criminally rat$#%* MVP snub there ever was, too.
Double-dipped w/seller and picked up this 1960 Roberto:
After selling my PSA-9 washed-out Reggie RC back in 2016 on PWCC (for $15k +, ouch!)...I had been looking for a copy boasting better image color and finally found a PSA-8.5 satisfying my wishes this week, included both for comparison (both images are from PWCC):
No. Sorry. 1947 A.L. It's not that Williams was vastly better than DiMaggio, after all, the Red Sox didn't contend, but how could a voter leave Williams out of the top 10? It's not absurd to say Bell kept the Jays in the race while the Tigers could have won without Trammel, and the Red Sox could have finished in the second division without Boggs. It's baffling that the two best players in the AL finished 9th and 19th, but this was the year that Dawson was most valuable despite playing for a last place team (and not well, but he had sexy stats).
Don't misunderstand, I vote for Trammel, and it's not close, it's just that Bell's selection isn't near the top of the Bad list, not even if you restrict the list to 1987.
BTW, Tony Gwynn was exactly what the voters thought Dawson was.
@norcal
nice '08 kobe chrome! gotta ask. what's your thoughts on the '21 prizm #1 card? first horizontal prizm too, i think?
@mintonlypls
We have pretty similar taste in cards but yours are all higher grade.
Beautiful Reggie, my man...

The only thing I'll nitpick is that Bell's MVP was indeed "near" the top of the bad MVP list. The other 1987 MVP, Dawson, is at the very top but Bell isn't far behind. Relief pitchers and RBI leaders make up almost the entire Top 10.
@blurryface
Are you talking about 2020-21 Panini Prizm LeBron James Kobe Bryant Tribute Dunk #1? If so, I just saw it for the first time. I love these cards especially when it comes down to these two iconic players. My favorite is the 08 Chrome. I have a few graded but only one 10.
yep! that's the one. pretty cool for several different reasons, imo. even though i'm not really a bron fan.
Bundled to get a price I was happy with on some great '58s - Doby and Bunning would not look out of place in an 8 holder. While some of the centering obsessed will not like my Aaron - the color pops in person so well that I could not resist this card.
The McClain - while not in the HOF - is for my '68 HOF set. Cannot put that together without having the MVP/Cy Young from that year in which he won 30 games.
Purchased what I think is a really strong '76 set - picked 8 cards (not necessarily the nicest but a good representation of what the set looks like). It is my second set from that year and will be fun to go through and pick the better of each card from the two. Centering was fairly nice throughout. Of course Brett was off center and had a lot of noise. Both the Aaron highlight and the regular were off-center. The rest of the set was really nice - between the two sets I will only have a couple of cards I feel like I need to go out and improve upon.
Brad...
Very nice 76s! Especially like the Ryan...
Just for laughs:
The coveted 2004 Tom Brady "Jack in the Box".
A vintage football rookie.

Hi, your 76's are just awesome.
Thanks all for the comments on the ‘76 cards. It really is a nice set. My other set is not as strong but had some gems including an incredible Bench. Will be a really fun day when I combine the two.
Recent pickups the last handful of days as the quest continues on Juniors basic set.
From my LCS
Topps does a set called "Turn Back the Clock"
It's a 3 card pack every week - thought this action shot of Ozzie? Cool!
Got a couple of football rack packs I’ve been wanting. 84 topps elway on top and 86 topps young on top. With a special guest appearance of Mr Rice in the 86 as well.
Collecting:
post world war II HOF rookie
76 topps gem mint 10 commons 9 stars
Arenado purple refractors(Rockies) Red (Cardinals)
successful deals with Keevan, Grote15, 1954, mbogoman
I pretty much can't help myself when it comes to these. Seriously. It's terrible.

...and this guy is part two of and finishes off the mail day.
I feel fortunate to add these two pieces of New York legends who spent the entirety of their careers in one city on one team a half a century apart from one another yet each revered for their play; now and forever more.

.
I've been tinkering around with a 1982 registry set for 7 or 8 years, and am currently only 36 percent complete, but still the 9th best current set on the registry. It's not at all a high priority project for me, but my intent is to do it entirely in 9+ grade. Somehow over the years, I had acquired a few 8s and 8.5s that I used as placeholders until I got around to upgrading. Jorge Bell was one of those cards, and I finally picked up a 9.
Here it is. My crappy phone pics don't do it justice. The colors are much more vivid in hand.
.
2x All Star, WS Champ (memorable 92 WS), Silver Slugger and Gold Glove. Was voted as Toronto's most eligible bachelor.
Another one for the 1975-1995 Rookie set:

Two random upgrades, sharp for the grade.
Every now and again, I pick up a 52T low that has decent centering.
April pickups for the Cubs PC.
Three things that stand out about Kerry Wood. His 20 K game of course, his comeback after injury and his son giving him a hug as he walked off the field for the last time. A true pro.
I got these two cabinet cards from over on the other side of the pond. I believe the team photo to be the 1885 Liverpool College team due to the details in the second photo. It is blank-backed. I don't know anything about the boy in the second photo, other than that he's posed with a lacrosse stick.
Yep another Mahomey--I really like this one a lot.
Got an order back from PSA recently. These are my favorites of the keepers from the order.
PSA HOF Baseball Postwar Rookies Set Registry- (Currently 80.51% Complete)
PSA Pro Football HOF Rookie Players Set Registry- (Currently 19.80% Complete)

Jealous of the Verlander and Ortiz
since it's Masters week....
two days ago i was able to shoot the breeze with a very nice man who won the tournament the year before I was born..........and acquire some fresh ink along the way
in my own personal collecting world it doesn't get more special than that
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
