yes there is, the seller could of called usps and put a case number on the package, i have done this 6 different times, and every single time the package started moving again within 4 to 12 hours
i actually just did a package research case today on a package i mailed on Monday, package has not been scanned for 3 and a half days, i will keep you updated on results

It generally works. I've had 100% success with this IN THE PAST. But I'm only batting 60% in December 2020. Things are BAD at USPS and, with holiday leaves, I imagine it will be another month before things are back to "Covid normal".
But, it is always worth doing. It takes very little time and it just might work.
Shipped a coin in a padded mailer, first class with tracking scanned in Marietta GA at 10:59 PM December 15, delivered at mailbox in Kailua Kona HI at 12:58 PM December 19.
Shipped a Christmas present to my sister in upstate New York in a priority mail box scanned in Woodstock GA at 2:55 PM December 7, departed Atlanta-Peachtree GA distribution center 4:01 AM December 9 last update as of this morning still says in transit arriving late December 13. Today is the 20th folks, where is this package?
Update, My sisters package made it all the way to Lexington, KY December 24th. Perhaps it will arrive this year.

Have a package shipped from MI on 12/22... still in MI on 12/30. It is late as of today. It is in Pontiac distribution ctr, which apparently is a notorious black hole. Hoping to see some movement soon.
Wifey isn't happy. Mailed packages ( 2 ) from east central Ohio to Texas on 12/17. Our P.O. to Columbus, to Cincinnati, back to Columbus, back to Cincinnati, BACK TO COLUMBUS, ( what the hell is wrong with these people ) 13 days the pkgs. made it 85 miles. Left Columbus this a.m. for who knows where.
Things appear to be improving. I have gotten all of my delayed packages now over the past couple of days.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
I got most of my MIA packages over the last few days, and a registered that hadn't been scanned in 30 days was scanned at the closest sort facility. Hoping things are getting better!
My longest Priority Mail package is 28 days....finally being delivered today from Maryland to Pennsylvania but Maryland to California took 2 weeks....🙄
Western, PA to New Jersey 2 day priority mail. Mailed from Local PO on 12/19, made it 90 miles by the next day and stuck ever since. Said they would look into it, call back in 48 hours. Current wait time, "in excess of an hour."

BAJJERFAN: She still has a couple days' supply, and we will look into an emergency Rx if it comes down to it, but it was coming just from across the river in NJ to outside of Philly, so shouldn't have come to this. GOOD news is we finally got a status update that it made it to the Regional Philly Distro Center this morning...... so MAYBE by Monday's delivery?????
They should probable create a new class of mail for such items. Getting drugs is increasingly commonplace and they probably shouldn't put it in with the regular mail stream. Or are they assuming you would have it shipped Express?
I have a similar situation and they use only FedEx. Never had a problem.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

If you ship package now it is better to buy insurance because the delay on the mail system. I am buying insurance on almost every package that I ship.
Well.....the insurance only covers you if the package gets lost not delayed even for weeks. The other option is to send Priority Mail Express which is 1 or 2 day money back guarantee. I have been reimbursed for 90% of the packages shipped that way during the past 2 weeks. It's a gamble that has paid off nicely for me and either way they get delivered quickly.

Alaska of all places must be immune from delays. Had a package ship from Vermont on Monday, arrived today. The usual three days.
Same here; first class from the NY area to Puerto Rico, Saturday to Monday! However most packages first class and regular priority are slow. Usps is making a lot of money with all the volume but services have gone downhill. Sorting machines were put out of commission. They need a new head postmaster.

The sorting machines that were put out of commission wouldn't have helped. They weren't package sorting machines.
I went to the post office to inquire about a package that has went missing. The rep gave me a printout that had the package getting scanned in a 4’ crate for transport. My guess is they have stacks of crates laying around with dozens of packages in each one. That’s why they go missing for so long. Once the crate gets rescanned, or opened, you will get an update.

This is true. There's a picture from inside a sort facility earlier in this thread. However, that doesn't really make anyone feel any better.
Well at least 2021 is starting off well for me at the post office. 11 days later my 2 day priority has moved 373 miles from Warrendale to Newark. At least they didn't lose it.

On expresses if you have a corporate account, how does PCGS guarantee next day on those? I contacted a regional head of corporate express who says that the package must be brought to the window at a po to have the next day guarantee.
"A guarantee cant be given until it’s process in the RSS terminal at the window. A pick up scan does nothing towards guarantees, there must be an acceptance scan. As you can see on the tracking for EK343271043US, you can see the first scan on it is at the plant in Tampa at 8 at night, no acceptance scan. Also, for a refund to be executed, Label 11 must be filled out correctly, with the guarantee date and time noted. If you are somehow getting acceptance scans from a carrier, make sure Label 11 is filled out completely."
"Some advice for your issue: Inform the carrier who picks up the piece that it should be given to a window clerk for acceptance. Carriers cannot accept an express piece for guarantee, it must be done at the retail window. So to clarify, make sure the carrier who picks up the piece, makes sure that it gets processed by a window clerk when he gets back to the office with the piece. If it just goes directly into the mail stream, there is no acceptance scan, and no guarantee. Hope this solves some of your issues. Have a great day, and a Happy New Year."

I've been waiting on a coin package from Heritage Auctions since December 7th.
My package has been at the Phoenix, MD PO since December 14th.
Phoenix, MD is 7.5 miles north of Timonium, MD where I live.....a fourteen minute drive on a bad day.
MISSENT? Anyone ever have this experience?
The PO supervisor at the Phoenix USPS said my pack was sent back to the Baltimore hub since it was Mis-Sent to Phoenix, MD and should have been sent to Lutherville-Timonium, MD.
This is a scan of a Premium Tracking log he gave me.
Anything is possible with the large volumes At least their system identified the error and it got a scan. The worst case scenario is the dead letter office in Atlanta where your chances of getting a successful delivery rather than having your stuff go to auction are not that great.
Just had a package mailed on 11/29 from RI, not scanned since 12/14 in NJ, show up with a scan in Springfield Ma today. Maybe I'll actually see it next week.

Do you know when and where this post office auction happens? I lost a package of 2019W set that fell in the black hole and I am curious what happens to those packages.

That's a good question, but good luck getting your coins back if they end up there, I hear it is a nightmare of disorganization. And that should not be that hard to manage a dead package office. I have had a few packages that probably ended up there and there were invoices inside indicating one or two addresses. Also let's say a PCGS or NGC coin gets separated from paperwork in the mail. It shouldn't be that hard to enter it in a database with the certification companies so they can be reconnected with whoever submitted the coins.

To be fair, you have to know that such a database exists. And you have to know where to enter cert numbers for watches, comic books, artwork, etc. I'm not saying it's rocket science. But if I were running the post office, given the rate they charge for insurance, I'd just pay the claims and be done with it. They must make a fortune on insurance, so there is little cost benefit to actually trying to track down the owners of that 0.05% of packages that get lost.

The auctions are online now, not sure on frequency (usually when their facility gets fuller).
If you have items taped to a invoice with addresses, they will get returned before auction.
Usually the lots sold are also big totes, so you can not see individual items.
The coin lots are mostly the plated investment coins/metals sold on late night television.
Arrival at unit should be last stop before out to delivery so if that is not your home PO, a carrier will scan it as "missent" and send it back on its way.
