Very nice gem rate. You must have a great system and a good eye for pre-grading cards. I find myseff needing to spend more time and attention on surfaces.

You’re too modest. 🙂 Take a bow. You have a great eye.

"Regular" pack grading? Isn't that the inexpensive level? Was that level removed or am I missing the option somewhere?? I've got a bunch of packs to send in but it's not worth it at $100 per.

Today I reached QA1. About a week in Assembly. It is a 20 card Modern-Value sub of 76 & 77 Topps AS cards. I am happy finally to be getting closer but I am also wary of getting hammered (again). Maybe, things will be better this time around....

EDITED TO ADD: Received 10/08/2020 Entered 01/13/2021 (in case it helps anyone who is tracking).

  • scmavlscmavl Posts: 1,409 ✭✭✭

Nice hit on the Vandersloots, @Czone I'm sure there are way bigger cards in that sub, but those are the ones that I like best. None of my Sloots are graded.

2.5 is pretty much my speed.

Value Modern marked as received 10/18 moved to Assembly Monday and QA1 this week. Ultra Modern same day still in Assembly from Monday as well. Ultra Modern received 10/26 in grading since early last month.

  • Has anyone received back a dual service grade add on <$250 sub recently? I have three such subs that arrived at PSA August 2020 and were all logged 10/21/2020. All are suck in grading. One since 11/2020 and the other two since 1/2021. Since there is no CTD for this service I'm just flying blind. Hoping someone with a similar sub can shed some light.

Received doesn't really mean anything, when was it entered?

I have a Value Modern 50 card order received by PSA back in Sept of 2020 and entered on 1/11/21. It moved to QA1 about 2 weeks ago but has not moved since. It has always been the case for me that once an order moved to QA1, within a few days it would reach QA2 and the grades would pop. Is this now the norm for orders to stay dormant in QA1 for weeks? Just when I thought the end was near, it has become another waiting game. PSA has had my cards in their possession for over a full year and the wait has been agonizing. I just want my cards back :'(

there is no norm besides long waits in Research and Grading. I had a few stuck in QA1 for up to a week in the not to distant past (last 60 days) but it was not common. My frustration with this end of the hobby is mounting. I have some stuff I could sub at Express level, but I am holding off because I do not like tying up hobby funds. I have already have thousands of dollars in grading fees sitting out at nearing a 365 day level.

It is altogther unacceptable. I understand the concept of upcharges, and when / if I get them, I happily pay them because I will be happy with the result of the grading, but it is a real bad look to up charge stuff that sits for this long. I have to keep myself on a hobby budget for my own good and having expenses that are so open ended does not mate well with it.

I hit my one year anniversary mark on two submissions yesterday. One is value modern entered 1/7/2021 which hit grading on 6/17/21 and has not advanced beyond. As such don't expect the CTD date for that category to move forward for at least a few weeks.

I have a 4 card reholder order that's been sitting in assembly for two to three months now. Is that typical or should I be concerned?

I've had recent subs sit in assembly for a couple of months. I wouldn't stress yet. Things are moving at a glacial pace right now.

considering there is no real consistency in the time frame of the pizza levels, i would say its typical. i guess it really depends how long its been there as recvd? for reference, i have one thats been there for well over 6 months.

Orders that require any" spec creations" are getting the usual delays. I've had multiple modern and vintage plus a few scattered ultra move into Grading stages lately , sorta all haphazard, and the rest sit in research/ID stage. I'd prefer my ULTRA mod's process now. I gave up on "in season" poppage

Only order type irritating me currently is Reslabs which frankly I'm not understanding why the 8 to 10 month re-slab delays. I sent some the end of January, and start of feb, expecting it to be back for Thanksgiving, and it's been sitting six and a half months in assembly and not budging. What kind of order processing system does this ? Makes zero sense. Holding up my registry inputs and resale. Wanted to use the resales to pay for some future subs. You know = finance the hobby using the hobby. Instead I get yelled at every thousand bucks my wife sees leave the account and not get replaced.

This is what I hate...this order follows up an order of 56 from this morning with a gem rate of 50% and primarily the 1987 classics because I scored an unreal deal on about 40 sets at 3 bucks per and those were super clean copies, the cream of the crop of those 40, and to tell me that not a single card on here was worthy of a 10 is just plain inaccurate and ridiculously inconsistent. There's zero doubt that there would be at least 4-5 gems on that order but definitely at least 1 because its been so long I cant even remember what the others looked like

if they would only hold they graders accountable to some level of consistency and be transparent about it then I would not complain. I have 8s become 10s 7.5s 9s. a 4 bump to a 7. Usually all the bad grades come on one order. If the cards deserved the grades they received I would not have sent them back to higher results. Time and time again. They just have at least a few graders I have run across that seem to be particularly bad at their job.

ehh a little. ultra modern run from covid ripping about dry. this is mostly stuff ive had for years that just wasnt really worth subbing until recently. ton of 70s 80s, non sports stuff, pre war golf and stuff like that. have a ton of ‘18 stuff from soto chasing that i might consider since technically it should be turning to “modern” very shortly and a cheaper rate. of course id like to see some better consistency before any of it ships…

Overall, pretty disappointed. These were sent in right before the big price jumps, so I was fully expecting upcharges on multiple of the big rookies. That never happened. Thought most were 1-2 grades lower than expected. Other than the big rookies, which would've been submitted no matter what, I thought the others would be mostly 9's, with a few shots at 10's, not mostly 8's with a few shots at 9s like what I received. I felt like I over scrutinized them before sending, knowing they had to get 9's to make it worth it. I'm just thinking out loud here, but couldn't help to wonder if it was a new grader and if they weren't sure of a grade, if they then went by my declared value to help speed it up because a lot of them seemed be a grade where the declared value would put it. I tend to go low on my declared values in years past and this was the first time I noticed it. IDK. Like I said, just thinking out loud. I am looking forward to getting them back in-hand to check them over again and see if I missed something, but I don't think so.

Some tough sets there, especially the 1986 Topps football, with the green borders and usual tough centering...1984 football also typically bad centered...post a few pics of the ones you felt got lower grades than anticipated once you get them back

Okay I have decided to step back up onto my soapbox. THE 86 TOPPS FOOTBALL IS UNFAIRLY GRADED! The stigma is unfair and it has just stuck. Getting a PSA 9 with the modern graders is damn near impossible. I am still not sure how you got the MINT 9 1986 Topps 67 Howie Long grade.

Sorry to see your results, I feel for you. You should stop sending in any 86's for at least 3 to 5 years. Thankfully I gave up on ever getting a Rice to grade high 2 or 3 years ago. I couldn't take the pain any longer.

so i think today marks the first time my cards have actually sat at psa for an entire calendar year. granted they werent “logged” but i think i am over that padded delay deflection terminology anyways. my cards have been there for 1 full year now. and not female dogging it. just stating facts as its a first for me.

it is painful. we have a vintage value group sub coming up on a year next week that is still n R&ID. I say I still enjoy it and am still going to be a customer but it gets tougher every day :(

  • @blurryface Hopefully this makes you feel a little better. In just over two weeks these orders will have been at PSA 14 months. At this point I'm almost hoping the hit 1 year since being logged in a couple weeks. Will make a great story some day.

I feel you, Blurry. My oldest "arrived" on 9/16...finally hit "assembly" 2 weeks ago, but there it sits...

Nah! I wish. @blurryface They are all three still in grading. Been stuck there since 11/2020 on one and 01/2021 on the other two.

My 25-card Value Modern order has almost the exact received and entered dates (10/29/20 and entered 01/25/21), and have been stuck in Grading since June 30th. This gives me hope though! lol

    QA2 today!!!!! :)

Grades Popped today. Not great but better than my last. I am not sure that I will ever earn another 10 on a '70s card. I thought all of these would grade at least 8, most 9, and a few had the ever-fleeting hope for the unicorn 10. I was wrong once again. :( These were submitted prior to my learning about the "stricter/more accurate" grading standards. :) I don't know what the heck happened with those Kingman's; they came straight from vending years ago. EDIT: For those who are interested, these arrived 10/06/2020 and were entered on 01/13/2021. One year exactly from in the door to out!

Had one of 3 subs that arrived the same day hit Assembly last night

All arrived and logged 11/20 logged 2/5 (2 Moderns 1 Ultra Modern) The Moderns have been in grading for over two months. The one that hit assembly last night went into grading a day before the other. Not sure what the going rate on assembly time last time I had a sub pop was 7/7/21
