i have a reholder order that is less than 2 months away from the 1-year mark. one thing i've noticed about waiting this long is that it starts to affect your mental acuity. like i have a difficult time recalling a single card i sent in, but it matters not because all i'm fixated on now is getting to 365 at a bare minimum. God willing, in a few decades i want to be able to tell anyone who will listen that i once paid for a service that should've been completed in 2-3 weeks max, but it took 57. THEN i turned around and forked over money to that company again. AND i was completely sober throughout.
i may end up being chick repellent throughout the entire nursing home, but i guarantee you i'm gonna let this little nugget fly during a connect four game

I see a few tiny specks on the front so the back must have a gum stain on it to bring that card down to a 4.

tough to knock that one, what's amazing is that people are willing to spend money to buy that card, same goes for the 5 in the next lot that sold for $7 plus the juice.
I think the majority of us would have sent that card in and the bulk of us would not be expecting a 4. Even if there is a microscopic wrinkle that was missed or the grader imagined, the care would normally grade a 5. being graded a 4 means either there is something really bad or the grader was just a hard a$$.
if it was raw and sold as mint the buyer would probably be glowing how nice the card was
Agree but I still wouldn't send it to an auction house either. He might come out owing the house money as well. LOL. If it didnt sell would he have to pay another round of shipping costs?

Yes. Definitely just sell that one yourself on eBay. Or even better, just hold onto it for 20 more years and maybe it gains some value.

I have a Value Modern that arrived Jan 30, entered Mar 25, still in R&I. All my Jan and Feb entered orders have been in grading since July
@Tron - I have 4 orders, (3 ultra and 1 modern) that were rec'd in Feb, entered in April. All still in R&ID. Based on my rudimentary math, I'm expecting the backlog to clear sometime in Jan '22. I'll still be checking every day but no expectation of grades until the new year.
I'm still waiting on a modern... Received October 14, Entered January 14, Grading started June 15.
I'm hoping this one is almost due. The order seems to like the 14th/15th of the month for dates, so maybe it's appropriate that it'll finish grading in Sept. 14/15. 😀
At this same time, this is my last order sitting at PSA, so if it finally finishes, I don't know what I'll do with all my time I've been spending refreshing my order status page for the past year.

I assume he is referring to the number of packages received. Jan 21 shows about 30k, Feb is a bit higher and March was the expected price increase and was > 42k packages. If Jan was 1M+ cards you could infer March was close to double that.

I assume he is referring to the number of packages received. Jan 21 shows about 30k, Feb is a bit higher and March was the expected price increase and was > 42k packages. If Jan was 1M+ cards you could infer March was close to double that.
^ this. and why i was doubting folks quoting 8-10 month estimated turnaround times based off early ctd reports when replying to folks asking when they thought their subs would pop. knowing that the 2nd or 3rd onslaught (depending on how you look at it) was over 3xs the size of that first rumored price increase. then the price increase did happen which increased even more and then the last one pretty much shut them down.
and for anyone that was encouraged by my last sub posted, keep in mind that that was a “group sub” and at THE ECONOMY level which was cut completely. the dates do look good, but also skewed against any personal subs bc that level was not available for individuals to sub.
another reason the 8-10 month turnaround times werent possible is that folks also have to keep in mind that “group subs” (which there were/are a massive amount of in the pipeline) were NOT included in calculating the CTD. so the sub above was basically a 20 day sub at a higher price level that still took 7 months. …and then theres still that other influx that they havent even gotten too. folks were laughing when i said itd be 12 -14 months for subs back then.

Similar story here. One value modern order that arrived 3/3, entered 4/15, still in R&ID. I'm honestly not expecting anything less than a year door-to-door.
I have two subs in right now (still). Only pne has made it to grading Arrived 10/06/20, Entered 01/13/21. It has been in a sound holding pattern for months now. It is a 20 card value-modern. Just an fyi. Good luck gentlemen. My other is a 59 card value-modern that was entered in March. Still in R&D...
Definitely thought I had some more 10s in there. There are for sure several of my 59 9s that my eyes can’t find any faults in the cards. Quite frankly, one of the 6s is baffling me too! I wonder if internally the graders make notes on each card they grade to justify the grade they are giving it. It would be very helpful to know what imperfections were found.
If cards were sent in on the 1960's special in March 2021......is the expectation March 2023 for grades ?? I'm being serious. Or is it actually worse ?? Because the simple math is telling me there is no way these are completed in under a year.

Today is day #323 since I shipped my Value Modern package (entered 01/25/21). At this point I want it to take over a year so I can say it took over a year. lol

as stated , there are still tons of group subs that are not being counted. I am in a 20 day that was received mid January , logged mid March that is just sitting. also some group vintage bulk subs that were received mid-October, logged early December that are still in R&ID so the CTD can surely be misleading as to how far along they are.

Has anyone tried a Walk-Through lately? It has been years since I have. I am wondering how long it will take before it hits grading. 1-2 days after delivery?
Overall, pretty disappointed. These were sent in right before the big price jumps, so I was fully expecting upcharges on multiple of the big rookies. That never happened. Thought most were 1-2 grades lower than expected. Other than the big rookies, which would've been submitted no matter what, I thought the others would be mostly 9's, with a few shots at 10's, not mostly 8's with a few shots at 9s like what I received. I felt like I over scrutinized them before sending, knowing they had to get 9's to make it worth it. I'm just thinking out loud here, but couldn't help to wonder if it was a new grader and if they weren't sure of a grade, if they then went by my declared value to help speed it up because a lot of them seemed be a grade where the declared value would put it. I tend to go low on my declared values in years past and this was the first time I noticed it. IDK. Like I said, just thinking out loud. I am looking forward to getting them back in-hand to check them over again and see if I missed something, but I don't think so.

sigh... 😞 I feel for you. I don't doubt you over scrutinized. It looks like your whole order got a fairly consistent bludgeoning with the PSA grade reduction hammer.
If they do have new graders still adjusting, their QA process isn't encouraging.

I wonder how many micro-seconds they spent on each of your cards before pushing out your order. I've noticed my orders breeze right through too. Maybe if there's no opportunity to uncharge, they just don't bother spending much time.
this vaguely resembles what was happening at first w all the ultra modern subs. now that it seems more modern subs are popping, being first in line there seems to be the training/grading scale learning curb. i can see them coming off the shiny to a lesser quality paper stock on most 80s and 90s product and grading them overly harsh initially as well. wonder if they’ll stick to the excuse they attempted in ultra modern world in that “all the quality cards have pretty much been submitted so whats popping now is the bottom of the barrell-type stuff”. anyways, sorry for this sub. happens to us all. you tend to be extremely knowledgeable and have always had a decent eye. i have zero doubt this ones on you.

Thanks man. Yeah I agree, modern subs kinda went through a rough stretch, but seemed to get back to normal recently. I had hopes that by the time my sub went through, it would be a lot less prevalent. I knew a few were rough, and asked for NQ on about 3 or 4 of them, which they obliged. Looking back over my past 7 subs since 2018, I was at a 74% gem rate (179/241) with my best couple I gemmed 35/37 and another 20/24. Hard to believe you just "lose" your eye and go from 74% to zero.
Overall, pretty disappointed. These were sent in right before the big price jumps, so I was fully expecting upcharges on multiple of the big rookies. That never happened. Thought most were 1-2 grades lower than expected. Other than the big rookies, which would've been submitted no matter what, I thought the others would be mostly 9's, with a few shots at 10's, not mostly 8's with a few shots at 9s like what I received. I felt like I over scrutinized them before sending, knowing they had to get 9's to make it worth it. I'm just thinking out loud here, but couldn't help to wonder if it was a new grader and if they weren't sure of a grade, if they then went by my declared value to help speed it up because a lot of them seemed be a grade where the declared value would put it. I tend to go low on my declared values in years past and this was the first time I noticed it. IDK. Like I said, just thinking out loud. I am looking forward to getting them back in-hand to check them over again and see if I missed something, but I don't think so.

Some tough sets there, especially the 1986 Topps football, with the green borders and usual tough centering...1984 football also typically bad centered...post a few pics of the ones you felt got lower grades than anticipated once you get them back

Man that's Brutal...No...beyond Brutal.......Nice way to turn 74 cards sub of $$800-$900 into worthless! Not criticizing you, just the outcomes!

These are some of the toughest cards to grade. He could still get money in long run.
Overall, pretty disappointed. These were sent in right before the big price jumps, so I was fully expecting upcharges on multiple of the big rookies. That never happened. Thought most were 1-2 grades lower than expected. Other than the big rookies, which would've been submitted no matter what, I thought the others would be mostly 9's, with a few shots at 10's, not mostly 8's with a few shots at 9s like what I received. I felt like I over scrutinized them before sending, knowing they had to get 9's to make it worth it. I'm just thinking out loud here, but couldn't help to wonder if it was a new grader and if they weren't sure of a grade, if they then went by my declared value to help speed it up because a lot of them seemed be a grade where the declared value would put it. I tend to go low on my declared values in years past and this was the first time I noticed it. IDK. Like I said, just thinking out loud. I am looking forward to getting them back in-hand to check them over again and see if I missed something, but I don't think so.

I got hammered on a 70's sub. weirdest sub ever. a bunch of the early 70's were graded easy then when it got to the mid-late 70's and 80's it was just brutal. in the year waiting the price of 7s are now the price of what were 8s. takes the sting out as I don't really want the 7's and recoup the same financially but it still doesn't make it right. I ended up keeping way less cards for myself

i have a reholder order that is less than 2 months away from the 1-year mark. one thing i've noticed about waiting this long is that it starts to affect your mental acuity. like i have a difficult time recalling a single card i sent in, but it matters not because all i'm fixated on now is getting to 365 at a bare minimum. God willing, in a few decades i want to be able to tell anyone who will listen that i once paid for a service that should've been completed in 2-3 weeks max, but it took 57. THEN i turned around and forked over money to that company again. AND i was completely sober throughout.
i may end up being chick repellent throughout the entire nursing home, but i guarantee you i'm gonna let this little nugget fly during a connect four game

I can’t knock this one too hard. At one time that card was bringing around $100+ on eBay. I even sent one of those to be graded 😳 but I looked it over VERY good before sending it. Come to think of it, the one I sent may have been a Tiffany. It’s been so long I honestly don’t remember. The card in that listing looks pretty good. I see a few tiny specks on the front so the back must have a gum stain on it to bring that card down to a 4.
tough to knock that one, what's amazing is that people are willing to spend money to buy that card, same goes for the 5 in the next lot that sold for $7 plus the juice.
I think the majority of us would have sent that card in and the bulk of us would not be expecting a 4. Even if there is a microscopic wrinkle that was missed or the grader imagined, the care would normally grade a 5. being graded a 4 means either there is something really bad or the grader was just a hard a$$.
if it was raw and sold as mint the buyer would probably be glowing how nice the card was
Agree but I still wouldn't send it to an auction house either. He might come out owing the house money as well. LOL. If it didnt sell would he have to pay another round of shipping costs?

Grades popped last night. Got an email at 1AM. Total turnaround from arrival was about 5 months.
I've got 80 orders that were entered in march of which a total of zero have as much as entered the grading phase yet...those guys in the research dept must really have their hands full! I'm just being a smartass because I am pretty sure that dept doesn't actually exist or they wouldn't n9 anything even remotely unfamiliar. That being said, I was gonna see how in line with everyone else is my cutoff for orders entering grading being march 1st and on...all of which were received in 2021 starting around the 3rd of Jan
I have a Value Modern that arrived Jan 30, entered Mar 25, still in R&I. All my Jan and Feb entered orders have been in grading since July
@Tron - I have 4 orders, (3 ultra and 1 modern) that were rec'd in Feb, entered in April. All still in R&ID. Based on my rudimentary math, I'm expecting the backlog to clear sometime in Jan '22. I'll still be checking every day but no expectation of grades until the new year.
…and still one more influx flood of that “second possible price increase” to tackle as well.
I'm still waiting on a modern... Received October 14, Entered January 14, Grading started June 15.
I'm hoping this one is almost due. The order seems to like the 14th/15th of the month for dates, so maybe it's appropriate that it'll finish grading in Sept. 14/15. 😀
At this same time, this is my last order sitting at PSA, so if it finally finishes, I don't know what I'll do with all my time I've been spending refreshing my order status page for the past year.

I assume he is referring to the number of packages received. Jan 21 shows about 30k, Feb is a bit higher and March was the expected price increase and was > 42k packages. If Jan was 1M+ cards you could infer March was close to double that.
^ this. and why i was doubting folks quoting 8-10 month estimated turnaround times based off early ctd reports when replying to folks asking when they thought their subs would pop. knowing that the 2nd or 3rd onslaught (depending on how you look at it) was over 3xs the size of that first rumored price increase. then the price increase did happen which increased even more and then the last one pretty much shut them down.
and for anyone that was encouraged by my last sub posted, keep in mind that that was a “group sub” and at THE ECONOMY level which was cut completely. the dates do look good, but also skewed against any personal subs bc that level was not available for individuals to sub.
another reason the 8-10 month turnaround times werent possible is that folks also have to keep in mind that “group subs” (which there were/are a massive amount of in the pipeline) were NOT included in calculating the CTD. so the sub above was basically a 20 day sub at a higher price level that still took 7 months. …and then theres still that other influx that they havent even gotten too. folks were laughing when i said itd be 12 -14 months for subs back then.
Similar story here. One value modern order that arrived 3/3, entered 4/15, still in R&ID. I'm honestly not expecting anything less than a year door-to-door.
I have two subs in right now (still). Only pne has made it to grading Arrived 10/06/20, Entered 01/13/21. It has been in a sound holding pattern for months now. It is a 20 card value-modern. Just an fyi. Good luck gentlemen.
My other is a 59 card value-modern that was entered in March. Still in R&D...

I received my two orders of the 90’s basketball special today (120 total cards). I’ve been going through the grades. Here are my ‘9’ heavy results.

Definitely thought I had some more 10s in there. There are for sure several of my 59 9s that my eyes can’t find any faults in the cards. Quite frankly, one of the 6s is baffling me too! I wonder if internally the graders make notes on each card they grade to justify the grade they are giving it. It would be very helpful to know what imperfections were found.
If cards were sent in on the 1960's special in March 2021......is the expectation March 2023 for grades ?? I'm being serious. Or is it actually worse ?? Because the simple math is telling me there is no way these are completed in under a year.

Today is day #323 since I shipped my Value Modern package (entered 01/25/21). At this point I want it to take over a year so I can say it took over a year. lol
as stated , there are still tons of group subs that are not being counted. I am in a 20 day that was received mid January , logged mid March that is just sitting. also some group vintage bulk subs that were received mid-October, logged early December that are still in R&ID so the CTD can surely be misleading as to how far along they are.

sigh... 😞 I feel for you. I don't doubt you over scrutinized. It looks like your whole order got a fairly consistent bludgeoning with the PSA grade reduction hammer.
If they do have new graders still adjusting, their QA process isn't encouraging.

I wonder how many micro-seconds they spent on each of your cards before pushing out your order. I've noticed my orders breeze right through too. Maybe if there's no opportunity to uncharge, they just don't bother spending much time.

this vaguely resembles what was happening at first w all the ultra modern subs. now that it seems more modern subs are popping, being first in line there seems to be the training/grading scale learning curb. i can see them coming off the shiny to a lesser quality paper stock on most 80s and 90s product and grading them overly harsh initially as well. wonder if they’ll stick to the excuse they attempted in ultra modern world in that “all the quality cards have pretty much been submitted so whats popping now is the bottom of the barrell-type stuff”. anyways, sorry for this sub. happens to us all. you tend to be extremely knowledgeable and have always had a decent eye. i have zero doubt this ones on you.

Thanks man. Yeah I agree, modern subs kinda went through a rough stretch, but seemed to get back to normal recently. I had hopes that by the time my sub went through, it would be a lot less prevalent. I knew a few were rough, and asked for NQ on about 3 or 4 of them, which they obliged. Looking back over my past 7 subs since 2018, I was at a 74% gem rate (179/241) with my best couple I gemmed 35/37 and another 20/24. Hard to believe you just "lose" your eye and go from 74% to zero.

Some tough sets there, especially the 1986 Topps football, with the green borders and usual tough centering...1984 football also typically bad centered...post a few pics of the ones you felt got lower grades than anticipated once you get them back
Man that's Brutal...No...beyond Brutal.......Nice way to turn 74 cards sub of $$800-$900 into worthless! Not criticizing you, just the outcomes!

These are some of the toughest cards to grade. He could still get money in long run.
Sent in an Express order on Monday. Package received Tuesday noon, was logged by 3pm, and in Research & ID by 6pm.
I got hammered on a 70's sub. weirdest sub ever. a bunch of the early 70's were graded easy then when it got to the mid-late 70's and 80's it was just brutal. in the year waiting the price of 7s are now the price of what were 8s. takes the sting out as I don't really want the 7's and recoup the same financially but it still doesn't make it right. I ended up keeping way less cards for myself
