As I can never be considered a true Texan, this here recommendation by @bronco2078 is my first time hearing about this. When I try it, I'll let the forum know how it turns out. :)

I first discovered Mr Shelby's Chili kit in the late 70's early 80's? It came in a brown paper bag then. I looked and wal mart sells it in a box now

All this talk of Shelbys has got me ready to try it. I think I'll stroll over to Wal Mart later this week.

To continue this tangent, this Shelby side project is about to get going today. Wife won't eat beans so those are axed, and I like to make it thicker vs thinner. A beer will get thrown in there for extra liquid.

Sweat the veggies, brown the meat, drop in Mr Shelbys spice kit plus more chili powder and red pepper flakes, some extra liquid and this evening we'll be grubbing. I usually do chuck and ground chorizo but the store was out of chorizo so hot italian sausage is in the mix.

It's got a nice little kick to it starting to come out, gonna hear the wife complain it's spicy....but then she'll have another bowl, ha.

    @DrBuster Man that looks delicious!

in weeks 1, 2 & 3 i predicted the Bears would lose in historical fashion, then they won

last week i forgot and Indy handed them their first L of the season

so let's right the ship, shall we....

    Tampa Bay 235
    Chicago -3

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

My Drew Brees avatar thinks that your prediction sounds about right and he’s 3-0 in picking the Bucs to win. ;)

One spoon in, literally 3 seconds after filling a bowl from the crockpot that is still on after 11 hours, wifey: this is too spicy...and then she ate the whole bowl after letting it cool a tad.

It’s got some kick but nothing crazy, she confuses cooking hot with spicy hot with my chili..we’ll see if she curses my name tomorrow morning though, ha!

No, no, nooooooo! The Falcons just burned my Panthers for a 35 yard touchdown run. Bad cat, bad cat!

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Interesting, I see that stevek's Eagles have their hands full today with Pittsburgh. The Steelers lead 14-0.

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

That's it Atlanta, turn it over on downs to the Panthers.

The Ravens are leading the Bengals 17-0. In the picks contest, I picked the Bengals to win. Uh oh.

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

The Steelers just scored, they now lead the Eagles 24-14. My heart goes out to stevek.

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

No, no! The Panthers are letting the Falcons back in the game! Nooooooooo. Bad cat, bad cat!

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

If the Panthers lose this game to the Falcons, I'll never speak to the Panthers again!!

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

No! The Falcons are coming back, they're driving down the field! This is a nightmare! Help!

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Matt Ryan throws a pick to my Panthers in the end zone!

The Panthers are driving down the field, they're chewing up the clock. The Falcons are desperate and using up their time outs.

The Panthers beat the Falcons 23-16. We've won 3 straight without Christian McCaffrey, so I'm satisfied for now. At least we didn't lose to the Falcons. We've escaped.

Now it’s Dallas and the New York Giants ... It’s too bad both of them can’t lose, but if Dallas loses to these stiffs, it will be time to bring Jason Garrett back.

Raiders upset the Chiefs and do it pretty handily. If you have a Jacobs or a Henry with a decent pass rush your team will have a chance. The Raiders pushed right up the middle on Mahomes and covered the ends so he couldn’t scramble. Great game plan Chucky.

Dallas defense can’t even slow down the Giants. No excuses. Interception for a TD and 14-3 10 minutes in. They are absolutely terrible. The NFL has to step in and award the the first 32 choices in next year’s draft along with a trade for a Dallas Cheerleader for Mahomes, Hill and Andy Reed. After all we can’t sell T-shirts of “America’s Team” at 1-15.

Just like the Chargers. They got a great pass rush without having to blitz. Chiefs O- line was terrible
    and so was the defense.

I can't believe I was stupid enough to pick the Bengals to win in the picks contest. What the heck was I thinking. I just thought, oh nevermind. Just, nevermind.

I'm watching this Cowboys vs Giants game right now. The Giants just scored, they lead 34-31 right now with 8:46 to go in the 4th quarter.

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Andy Dalton is in at quarterback for Dallas, Dak Prescott suffered a pretty bad ankle injury in the 3rd quarter and was carted off the field.

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Cowboys and Giants are tied at 34 with 1:00 to go in the game, Dallas will have one last drive with 3 timeouts to get into field goal range. Here we go!

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Dallas is driving down the field!

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Dalton threw a bomb downfield to Gallup, Dallas is already in field goal range. The Cowboys are going to win this game.

Here we go, the kick is up and...... it's good! The Cowboys beat the Giants 37-34 with a walkoff field goal as time expires. Man, what a game.

Terrible injury to Dak though. I watched live and it wasn’t pretty. Season ending for sure.

Yeah, that was a horrible injury, I hate to see that happen. It's going to be interesting to see what happens in the NFC East after this.

Nice to see Philip Rivers throw his customary 2 picks and lose to the Browns.

    Trivia question. What is 16, 13, 9, 9 ?
That’s an offense that hasn’t played the Cowboys yet. What is 34? That’s any offense that can’t score 17 points a game after they played the Cowboys.

No way unless 7-9 wins the division. Philadelphia will get healthy but the Dallas defense will not get good enough to win 9 games.
If you search my posts my NFL futures wagers, 2 of them were the Cowboys under 10.5 and the Jets under 7 wins.
I’m standing at the casino window as we speak ready to cash those babies in.
