No design finalized yet? Surely that is determined by now....The Palladium and Platinum coins tend to have better designs than others....Cheers, RickO

The Palladium has the same design every year...

Has the finish been different each year? UNC in 2017, PR in 2018,
RP in 2019 and back to UNC for 2020?

In 2017 the United States Mint issued a Bullion version.
In 2018 the United States Mint issued a Proof version.
In 2019 the United States Mint issued a Reverse Proof version.
In 2020 the United States Mint will issue an Uncirculated version.

Each year's surface must be some material way different than the preceding year...

  • cagcrispcagcrisp Posts: 1,057 ✭✭✭✭✭

    To clarify the above post...

The United States Mint Could do a Bullion coin version every year, However, we probably will never see another Bullion version because the Mint lost money the only year it did a Bullion version.

IF the United States Mint does a numismatic version...

...Then each year's surface must be some material way different than the proceeding year. The different surface only applies to numismatic coins...

Possibly a Satin Finish ? Selective to the devices and not the fields ? Or vice versa ?

    The 2019 is still available.

Maybe they could try a lower mintage. ;)

Considering everything, they may just put a V75 privy on the next one and say it is different and costs even more :/

As far as price you can get the 2019 Rev PR direct from the mint still for $2,650.

I have to assume the 2020 will be more, so I will guess $2,800, crazy, but like all hard assets will be. The Fed will keep increasing the fiat supply, so other real things will cost more. 2020 will be a year to remember in infamy.

    Too much for me.

  • MilesWaitsMilesWaits Posts: 5,346 ✭✭✭✭✭

For the last RP (stunning!) Pd issue from the Mint, I was patient and lucky enough to find it for less than Mint issue price. In a holder, which I prefer.
I can be patient again and wait it out and take my chances. I do intend on buying one, though.
Thank you for keeping the thread alive.

Now riding the swell in PM's and surf.

The Palladium price matrix has already been increased for 2020. The current matrix will be the same one used for the 2020 Palladium Uncirculated...

I thought the finish was going to be the same as the first one. Hmmmm, so it could be Satin Finish....I wasn't going to get one this year, now I'm on the fence....

Don't even give them that idea!!!!

I know it's not Monday.... however.... Palladium had a nice jump today. Not nice for the price of the upcoming 2020 Palladium $25 bullion offering. "It goes up, it goes down"

So the 2020 Palladium will probably break the $3000 barrier.
Ugh. Gold prices are getting ridiculous too. Are we heading toward a crash? Seems like something has to give, or break.

Bullion Exchange will pay you $1956 when you are ready to sell it. Nothing like being 33% in the hole right out of the gate.

United States Mint opens sales for Uncirculated palladium coin on September 24

    news.coinupdate.com/united-states-mint-opens-sales-for-uncirculated-palladium-coin-on-september-24/

    NOTE:

Orders are limited to one coin per household for the first 24 hours of sales, after which the Mint will remove the limit. This coin will not be available for purchase through the bulk program. The mintage and product limits are set at 10,000 units

  • GoldminersGoldminers Posts: 3,961 ✭✭✭✭✭

Last year's is still listed for sale at the Mint now for $2,850. That is a truly ridiculous price premium for uncirculated bullion of a metal that should drop significantly in value over the next several years, as we convert more and more to electric cars.

I can't imagine much upside buying this 2020 version, even if it does sell out the 10,000, compared to the over 17,691 that the 2019 proof sold so far.

I've got one of each so far and really wanted a burnished one....but this price tag is saying, "Forget about it."

Is the 2020 version going to have a special finish, it just says uncirculated, which would make it the same os the 2017 version.

I know only what is reported. Uncirculated is a "special" finish after a fashion. A unique finish that hasn't been used on a $25 Palladium ? Doesn't look like it.

The 2017 was minted in Philadelphia. This new one will have a W mintmark and probably be a burnished finish. Watch it be the most prized one in the set. Ugh....

Love the bald eagle reverse, but not $2900 worth.

You got a pay to play.
Or, I may wait to snag a 69 @ hopefully a reduced dealer price as long as spot remains somewhat stable.

+$99 so far. Does the mint use Bid or Ask as their basis?
The bid price refers to the highest price a buyer will pay for a security. The ask price refers to the lowest price a seller will accept for a security.

  • KudbegudKudbegud Posts: 4,735 ✭✭✭✭✭

    BONUS POST

The Mint uses Neither the Bid nor the Ask that you normally see in the Spot Market.

The Mint uses for a basis the LBMA Palladium AM and Palladium PM fixes.

The fixes are averaged Thursday AM through Wednesday AM and price changes are made on the Mint’s website on Wednesday afternoon...

Thank you ! Your explanation is better than any of the dozen or so I found via search. None answered the question sufficiently. I used several re-wordings as the search terms which usually prompts Google to cough up what I'm looking for. Other search engines failed utterly. I won't be using those again for anything.
I have saved your response so it will be handy when I forget how it's done in the future.

You Sir, are a human Google ! :p

Shortly after 2PM ET Today the 2019 Reverse Proof Palladium should be re-priced to $3,000.00...

  • KudbegudKudbegud Posts: 4,735 ✭✭✭✭✭

If the average holds that will be the initial price of the 2020 next week.
