I'm not competing with that one...
No competition @jmlanzaf , just that that's the only Half Dime I own.
Go ahead and post one.

For my education, and others, where is the denomination, on the edge?

Nice coins... I do not own a Half Dime....I should get one though, just to have in my collection. Cheers, RickO
A denomination that gets less respect than it deserves:
For early US coins no denomination was needed. Silver and gold were money and money was silver and gold. The weight of the thing was its value.

When you put 'Half Dime' in quotes, I was expecting to see a dime cut in half!
Instead you posted a pretty big rarity - nice.
1858 V-10, from the "58" thread.
Only one I've ever owned. Unfortunately, I sold it to a forum member many years ago.
Sweet little coins. Here is one of mine.
I have two that were handed down to me. Here is one of them. Nothing nearly as nice as in this thread though.

None to post, unfortunately.
Seeing half dime posts on this forum is always bittersweet.
Years ago when I was actively dealing I used to set aside any half dimes I took in for my good friend, known well then on these boards and fondly remembered now, to view before I put them into my inventory. He'd always have something interesting to say about the coin, some relevant and insightful observation to make. Once in a great while he would light up and say 'Gee, I can use this one!' and we'd work out a deal. Into his amazing 'reference collection' the coin would go.
Very few knew more about those little fish scales than MrHalfDime, and a friendlier, more genuine and honest guy I've never met.
RIP Steve. Miss you buddy.

Wow ... that's a nice one!
It occurred to me that I did in fact own a couple of other half dimes, although I sold them both as well. Here's the only one I have photos of:

Sad to hear about MrHalfDime. I remember him as a wealth of information and an all around good guy
OMG!! @fishteeth Beating heart!!!

Ever since I lost my glasses half dimes really stopped being fun..😢
Seriously though, I'd forgotten how sweet some of Realone and Barndogs half dimes are..yowzer!
Steve would tell the rest of us stories about various dealers (a bunch!) who would do the same thing for him. He would compare notes with his ANA roommate after a day on the bourse and show off a special purchase. His roommate would add, "I went to that table before you and I didn't see that coin!" Steve would reply, "That's right. He was holding it JUST FOR ME." Veins would nearly pop! Good times.
Mine are pocket change but I'm sure enjoying all the ones posted to this thread.

Here is the half dime type set I put together years ago. As my eyes get older my collecting tastes have gravitated to larger coins so these were sold off over the years and replaced with larger coins.
Commems and Early Type
I cannot compete with all the nice half dimes posted.
This is the best I have...
Here is one of @MrHalfDime's favorites, from his reference collection:
the 1849 V-2 early die state, which clearly shows the under digits are 1846 (not 1848).
@CaptHenway saved this one for him.
Steve had 12 examples of the 1849 V-2 in his collection.
Often when sharing his half dime die variety knowledge, Steve would mention some
examples in his collection, and then apologize that he was unable to share photos.
So we are making up for lost time here!
His collection was photographed and shared on the Newman Numismatic Portal after his passing.

It is an extremely important resource for my efforts to complete his longstanding
goal of creating a reference for Liberty Seated Half Dime attribution.

WOW! The famed mic drop 1849/6! Heard that story easily half a dozen times. Lovely closeup. Thanks for sharing that one.
