    Got this 1892-S Morgan for a great price. Now do I send in for grading. Little worried it would come back as damaged with that ding but still it has aged lovely!!

    Flatten those staples with a pair of pliers. :#

    I did. That's how I received it lol

    Picked up this 1881-S Morgan. Common date and mintage but for $40 who can complain!!

    .

    Sorry to bring the news, but I don't think that is genuine.
    You might consider taking it to a local coin shop and have it tested.
    Maybe you can get a refund from the seller ?

    .

    Yes I can. I asked a few people before I bought. What looks bad to you

    A lot of little things, such as:

    Raised ridge to the left of "UM" in UNUM;
    Defective "L" in PLURIBUS;
    Various small lumps of metal such as those around the "18" in the date and to the left of the "RI" in AMERICA;
    Narrow rim and poorly-formed denticles on the reverse side.

    Overall it has the look of a typical modern Chinese make and probably silver-plated (if that).

    What is the weight ?
    Is it attracted to a magnet ?

    Understood. The Weight was spot on, the size was spot on and it is not magnetic but I do know they make fakes with real silver. It's just the most comman year of the Morgan.

    I doubt that it is real (solid) silver.

    Here is the back side of a genuine 1881-S Morgan Silver Dollar.
    Note the denticles and width of the rim:
