I picked up at a local shop last week and at a coin show today some raw sets that include a gem 1956 proof Type 1 half, a 1951 proof cent and nickel that may warrant a Cameo designation, a 1954 proof cent that IMO is a Cameo, a 1958 proof half that may warrant a Cameo designation, a 1962 proof nickel and half that IMO are Cameos and a 1967 SMS cent that may warrant a Cameo designation.
All of these coins are very eye appealing and just glow under good lighting.

Already had a 1798 BB-104/B-22 in AU. It is the difficult die state II
DIE STATES:
Die State I: Perfect reverse die. Cf. W. Earl Spies Collection (Stack's, 1974), which had two perfect-die coins, one with regular letters and the other with bifurcated letters (which do not constitute two different die states). This state was used to coin early specimens of 1798 BB-103. Die State II: Reverse die crack through E of STATES just beginning. Gilhousen's (Superior, 1973) is VF-35. Die State III: Reverse die cracked through E of STATES only. The die state mentioned by Haseltine as normal for this issue. The variety usually seen. Die State IV: As II, but now with die crack extending to shield. Cf. Spies Collection coin (Stack's, 1974), VF. Very rare. Die State V: With the additional cracks mentioned by Bolender for BB-103; may not exist on BB-104.
Was looking for a die state IV. Well I found not only that but the more advanced and speculated die state V.
BB-103 Die State IV: Reverse with die crack from border down through right part of E in STATES to clouds. This crack has been seen on an specimens examined by Bolender. Die cracks through last S in STATES and top of OF. Light die crack from top of N to base of D in UNITED. The usual die state for BB-103.
And that's exactly why I much prefer our hosts grading service over others. The grading standards are typically higher with most series. While it may be a bit disappointing to not cross at the same grade, it's likely a more accurate grade. A good number of NGC or other TGP graded coins will not cross at the same grade. A few do, but from what I have witnessed, many do not. I'm not even going to get into the CAC aspect. I was already scolded pretty good for that.
Damned nice double eagle though! I aspire to own one some day. Thank you for sharing!
I bought a common 1944 WLH on Ebay today. I was just browsing and came across it and liked the look of it. Unusual toning caught my eye I guess. I bought a 1945 MS65 from a forum member and thought they would make a nice pair. This one is also 65.
I have been an avid V nickel collector for many years, and also have love for Shield nickels as well, but surprisingly did not own and single example. I was browsing Ebay and came across this 1883 Shield with a pretty dramatic doubling on the obverse. It was a pretty affordable example in PCGS AU58 with some nice luster and some rust colored tones, so my impulsive self bought it. I have spent way too much on coins lately. I guess I am making up for the several years I took a pause in the hobby. LOL
A family member found this coin in a box that was put aside for some years. It weigh's 3.1 and it's magnetic. (yes)
The color is silver sporting a 1980 D date.

Wow! That sure is a pretty V nickel proof! I plan on acquiring one myself. I have collected the business strikes for many years, but have never owned a proof. Can you believe that? That 1905 is beautiful!
Yesterday, after seeing @dunkleosteus430 's proof V nickel, I went and found one I really liked. I have been thinking about a proof for a long time since all I own are business strikes. The weird thing is that the Trueview image looks much different from how the coin actually appears in hand. I like both looks, but the guy at PCGS that does the Trueviews really knows how to manipulate the lighting for the best effect! By the way, it's a PF65.

With the purchase of this 16-S, I've finished my date run of my Indian half eagles. It was fun and I'm kind a sad it's over, but I can see myself improving on a couple of them, maybe.
Thanks for looking,
Joe

I won this at a coin club auction. I don't collect buff's. The soap bar slab and toning caught my eye. I also like AU55 grades.
