Let’s see what you guys grabbed this month. This one was acquired on leap day, but most years that’s March right? Just enamored with the card and player (my first ever modern auto) and wanted to start the March thread off with a glimpse at the Yankees future....

Looks like he may end up staying with Colorado after all (which I hoped for).
Great card from a HOF lock (at this point in time) that can be had between $55 and $65
A great start to the month!
I finished my Ripken rookie set.
A couple of Renfro cards.

I shared these in the vintage basketball thread, but wanted to put them here as well. Really excited to add these to my set, first ones I've seen since the National, hoping more will pop up.
More Cuban goodness...

Got another in the mail today.
Both on the way
Couple local card show pick-ups
Love the Gwynn @rounding3rd
I picked up the Chrome version around January. Picked this one up last week. Glad I did because prices for guys like Soto, Bellinger, Acuna and Yelich rookies are rising in price as baseball season begins to pick up steam.
"Let's go out there like a bunch of crazed dogs!"
One of the best defensive football players ever.
Without question

Very nice.
As a Mickey Mantle card collector, I knew this little treasure was part of a board game called Challenge the Yankees. Released in 1964 by the Hassenfeld brothers of Pawtucket, Rhode Island (their company smartly called Hasbro, Inc.) the game was essentially the Yankees versus the All Stars in a dice game where your roll determined the outcome. The game proved fairly popular and sold enough copies where a new updated version was released in 1965. For Mantle, the presence of his all star appearances in his biographical section cements this as the 1965 edition of the card (a little SGC whoops!). The fifty card set can be broken into two parts with fifty percent being cards of the Yankees roster - HOF stars like Yogi Berra, Roger Maris, Whitey Ford and Elston Howard - and the other half comprised of a nice selection of MLB HOF stars including Sandy Koufax, Hank Aaron, Willie McCovey, Duke Snider and Carl Yastrzemski, just to name a few.

Good mail day.
Sorry forgot the photos.
I hope everyone is “charged up” for the weekend!! Sneaking out of the office early to meet a guy to quote some new fence – barbed wire, not electric
I haven’t had much luck finding nice cards lately. I did pick up a couple of nice 1972 WS cards recently.
Not a pickup so much as a "steal" 😄 a recent subbed set of these to BGS reminded me of my 400 count box . PSA. Pop report gonna go up a couple hundred in 4 months
Been a slow start to the year for the main sets I’m trying to complete so I grabbed another Willie Woodburn autograph as well as some other odds and ends.

Mickey knows; this kid is allegedly the Latin Mickey Mantle. He has out of this world tools, hence they call him The Martian. It’s the most the Yankees ever spent on a player like this and he was 17 when they signed him. I’m a huge Yankees fan and with the brittle giants that man left and right and Aaron ‘DL’ Hicks in center, this kids going to be up sooner rather than later and patrolling center for years to come, making up for Clint Frazier’s lack of range...
...I think the Martian will land late 2022.

Do you think in 2022 he will regret having that haircut on his rookie card?

This is a really nice example. As in just 5 are considered nicer by PSA. One of the best and most used early career poses AND if you collect 1950s sets featuring the Yankees, you’ve probably seen it.

UFFDAH...
Where r u picking up all these unopened packs? Ebay? Private transactions?
I am trying to finish a 60s 5-cent wax pack run and need 3 packs('60, '65, and '69)! Someone out there help me...I prefer the '69 pack to be either 1st or 6th series.
Sweet 4! I have never pack pulled one, so you got me there. The single I bought as a young kid has (OC) and (PD) all over it, but at that time, it was send in my $50 and I get a card sight unseen.
Here is my 4.. It's a 4 party!

It's a variety of sources. Will message you the name of a Facebook Group you should join. A great and fun group. It's where I connected on the 69 Packs.
These items still in their originally packaged state are somewhat hard to come by. Produced by “Star-Studded Covers, Inc.”, these remarkable relics feature a blue and white color scheme with an image of various stars and were intended to be used as book covers for school aged kids in (possibly the late fifties and certainly in) the early sixties; the packaging includes a header printed with a price of twenty nine cents and that they came three to a pack, and stamped with the name of the featured star. The package dimensions are 10x11 and the plastic wrap is still sealed. The stars in the set included Frank Robinson, Al Kaline, Roger Maris, Dick Stuart, Norm Cash and others but the star I was after, of course, was Mickey Mantle (#4).
