Found this tonight .
I've had this for over a year and im just getting to it now.
Clearly a 1992
close AM. No bout a dout it.
The FG is showing the straight up G as the AM is not in play. Never did care about my grades as long as I passed.
It's the art of the find that is awesome to anyone who tries.

Sorry, clearly NOT a close "AM". How can the AM not be in play?
Just completed an uneventful, more of a bust, search of 20 Kennedy rolls here in Des Moines IA. Many, several dozen, containing the usual markings from other hunters. Will, head home next week where another (correction) 50 Kennedy rolls will be arriving.
rec78 ...How can the AM not be in play?
The close AM is dictated by the designers int. FG with the spotlight on the G as seen in steven59's chart he supplied. (TY)
I don't know if the space between the AM over rides the FG or not. I think it would but not with a double die.
To be safe I suggest use the designers int. for now.
I hate the close AM search, but I do look. This is taylor made for the micro camera.

The distance between the A and the M is what counts. IF the A is touching or near touching the M it is a close AM. If there is distance between the A and the M then that is a wide AM. It is this distance that determines the designation of this variety. The FG comparison is unessessary.
IF your are talking about the 1988 the G has been renamed a flared G. The term wide AM was used incorrectly for this variety and has been corrected. This has caused some confusion in the coin industry.
Top image is a wide AM
Bottom image is a close AM
The AM is always in play.

YES I agree. I think i were to sell one or buy one I would feel better if the A and M were touching.
The serif on the G that is said to be another avenue to follow is , to me, not reliable in most cases.
I'm backing off on this hunt for now.
Thanks Bubba.
I've never pulled a Barber from a roll but when I went in to my credit union last week a teller asked me if this was worth anything She had found it in her drawer.
It's actually a little bit bent but how cool is this?!
She happily sold it to me, so yesterday I brought them cupcakes, true story
Just found this: 1960-P small date in a customer wrapped roll. This is the first 1960-P small date Lincoln cent that I have found in a roll in over 60 years. These are very tough to find in circulation!
After 3 years my credit union finally upped the roll limit from 2 of each to 10 ...or $100 total, whichever comes first.
So I of course made this choice today...

Time is my issue currently but I tend to have better luck when I’m not hunting like 3 legged dog in heat anyway. In fact now that you mention it I’m probably due to pick up a box or three.
Love me some variety (more chances to hit). One stop and only had $20 so I couldn't cover a whole box. But when I saw these and I asked how many more they had they said this was it perfect
Just finished going through a box of nickels and I was surprised at what I found. There was a 1943S,1943P,Canadian Nickel, 1907 Liberty nickel, 1942 P - no mint mark, 1991 struck thru obv, 14 1968 - 1970 S nickels and 22 40 - 59 nickels. Also around 150 plus nickels from the 60's. WOW, 2 war nickels and a liberty nickel. I love coin roll hunting.🦫😀

Well, I'm 10 rolls into the 50 and no silver yet but came across these 3:
1972-D, no FG
1982-P, no FG
1971-S, clad proof
(Edit) 5/22/2023, searched remainder of box, 40 rolls, and found absolutely nothing. Complete bust. Oh well.
