i'm currently looking for a ddo that was found from pocket change i intended to post yesterday but had WAAAYYYY too many tabs/links/info apparently to do so.
it is the quarter in the NGC holder not too far down from the top of the page. intended to encourage exhaustively louping coins as the finds are still out there. SHEESH it can sure be rough of the neck, back and arms.
this is where practicing sliding coins on a flat surface under a digi-scope comes in handy or wearing a mounted-face/head magnifier.
if it is power enough (usually not?) even the quintessential hand-held handled magnifier is probably even better than louping long-term.
About a week ago I spotted my first ever Drooling George, and then another a few coins later.
Speaking of the "P" people finding all the die chips lol. I don't see that many newer P's in the scheme of things.
So I just went through about 15 more rolls of my Maya stash, all solid Loomis rolls of P Mayas...
Found my 3rd Drooling George...then another...then another...then another...
Now I have 56 of them lol.
All fairly early stage but still.
Hey...Anyone wanna buy a roll of Drooling Georges in fantastic condition?

if they were the bigger ones, i'd probably buy a handful. there must be thousands or more of them out there spread across a few different quarters, especially the smaller ones.
Stopped at Chase on my way home just to see if there were more customer rolls.
She tells me she got 3 more rolls from the same customer...
Another W, and the most intensely creamy lustrous Sally Ride quarter I've ever seen.
If you've looked a bunch of these Sally quarters you always notice how chattered up her jacket is seemingly no matter how nice the coin is...this one is ridiculous. Maybe it came from a mint roll... I wonder if it could get a mid to low MS + grade?

at pcgs or ngc?
make sure to check both.
Good point! Seeing how this is relatively new for PCGS. I never really thought to look at NGC pop reports. But when it comes to preferences that require PCGS PL moderns my only sweat will be getting that designation in the first place.
The shots are getting better, nice lighting...
Your depth of field is actually so shallow that when you have the fields in focus the higher up devices are soft...
Smaller physical aperature (bigger number on the settings not smaller) is what you need, which will slow down your shutter speed a tiny bit...unless you can make the lights a bit brighter.
And in some shots the top of the coin appears to be sharper than the bottom which means you might not be exactly level (perfectly on the same plane) as the coin.

Good stuff thanks!
I’ll try that, I didn’t know about depth but I’m always back and forth between aperture and exposure trying find the sweet spot so that should help.
All of those came from original bank rolls except the first was mint pack.
Now I just need a good subject 🫣

That’s a new one for me and it looks to have a pretty decent spread. PCGS tends to be lenient when grading represented varieties so I think yes that there probably is a 66 out there.

Where is this listed?
I looked and COC (cuds on coins) and other sites and have found nothing listed for 73-D. But a progressive die crack has to have many minted from that die before replacement.

This week's quarter finds:
Maya Anjelou VDDR-001 #'S 29 & 30
Arizona extra leaf # 43
1984-P with a light lamination (or perhaps, delamination?)
This 1984-P quarter spent 49 years in circulation. Those are not scratches!
What do you think? Opinions welcome!
Thanks! Bob.
