    Finally!

It took, for me to travel a little farther in the Chicago suburbs, (while shopping with the wife), to finally find any Silver half dollars!

    1966 & 1969

    Out of Only 5 rolls!

    I can't remember when I did last?
Hopefully, these 18 rolls of quarters, could be great finds, as well?

I was going to ask what do you guys think the 1987 D/D would grade? Almost a 67?

From the pic I was thinking 66 but they tend to pop a grade in varieties.

That looks skunkless @Kurisu Good luck!

Just found this one going through some backlogged boxes of rolls.

    A 1973 - D Mystery coin

Can you figure this one out?

OK, I had to look at this one a few times. The reverse is not of the early clad half dollar era. The reverse is also rotated about 270 degrees. It is a very disguised Magician's coin.

Last month I bought a dozen home wraps from the CR that contained AU and BU state quarters, and three rolls of 97 P halves, written on pencil on the wrap. A lot of golden dollars—ugh, with a couple dozen proofs mixed, ugh—five rolls of 2000P sacs came with 31or 32 coins. I think that a collector dumped a hoard, it was too clean.

This showed in a bank wrap that contained clad eagles. This is mint damage or aftermint damage; am I right? Jesting—I don’t know. Both sides tells me that post mint damage. Any divinations and pronouncements?

That is a retained chunk of metal at four on the obverse.

    Thank you.

Found this while on the fly today. Very nice semi proof-like SBA with blue fields. Too banged up for grading but a nice subject nonetheless - Bag it and Tag it.

Yes, as my buddy RickO, had posted. My 173 "W" quarters found, were only from coin roll hunting. From 2019 - 2023.
I had many sent to PCGS for grading.
Most came back in ms 66. One came back a marvelous ms 67!
    Tallgrass Prairie 2020.
I sold that coin at a big coin show for $750.
    Keep on Hunting!
    Thanks 😊

Nice W's find. 2 good ones. Getting tougher and tougher...

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

If the W's are getting harder to find in rolls, that should mean the rest are somewhere in circulation... I have seen hundreds found from rolls (posted here).. but millions were made. I keep searching change... Cheers, RickO

Finds from last weeks 4 box quarter hunt.

My first silver quarter find of 2023--What?? a 1932 - P ?? better grade but beat up and harshly cleaned.

    "W"s # 30 & 31

    Maya Anjelou DDR-001 #'s 31+32

    Maya Anjelou DDR-002 #'s 14+15

    An Arizona extra leaf variety

    And a possible 1987-D RPM D/D/D??

Along with 14 various Harper's Ferry DDR's and 2 Homestead DDR's. (Not shown)

    Pennies
A 1999 with a big die crack on the reverse-pretty junky looking but still a neat coin.

And finally a 1936-S Wheat cent- this one I got in change at a casino.

Find from latest search, 2020 V75. Obverse has fine scratches but overall better than I've seen in a while.

These rolls look aged, like original bank wrapped rolls from 22/23 years ago. They could be fruitful.

Like the Ike they can come banged up because of the sheer size.
But I like the orange gold toning I found on these Presidential‘s enough I had a couple tuition pieces made, 66 I believe.

What do you mean by; Like the Ike they can come banged up because of the sheer size?

Ike's are large, these dollars are the size of quarters. What does that have to do with coins getting banged up? They all seem to have minor bag marks.

Sounds like you just answered your own question. My experience is they come banged up and I assumed that because of size and weight.
Probably got ahead of myself seeing how my experience is limited to only several rolls.

I can't explain it. I wish I could. For whatever reason, I'm in the right place where they dumped these things into circulation.

EDIT: Also, these rolls have been sitting somewhere untouched for 23 years. How do you explain that? I have no idea.

Make sure you're looking for the DDR's in this area of the 2007-P Wyoming quarters.

Often. I wrap my cull quarters with matching 2020 reverse ends to get even with that cat.

I'll probably do a seperate post for this one but thought I'd share here first
Picked up a bunch of rolls yesterday at a few branches, didn't really take a look at anything until I got home...

Turns out that the two rolls of Loomis Sacagaweas from my credit union are original pristine rolls from 23 years ago!!!
Going back this morning to see if there are more.

I'm stunned. I noticed last night so I'm rechecking them this morning with better light but I only opened one of them.
The roll I opened was mostly beautiful and there were just a couple that had unattractive hazy toning.
The one I haven't opened yet has some beautiful toning on the ends.

The best one from the roll I opened, I'm taking better pics this morning...

The roll I haven't opened yet...
