Your Favorite Coin Purchase of 2019

Gotta keep the yearly forum tradition alive! What was your favorite coin purchase of 2019?
This year I decided to start working on a 7070 typeset, and as a result, added quite a few coins that I really like to my collection. While my first U.S. gold coin is high on my list of favorites, I've gotta say that without a doubt my absolute favorite purchase of the year is the 1811 capped bust half dollar that I found raw on eBay - which later graded AU-58+ at PCGS, and got a green bean at CAC.

Such a tough call! My favorite purchase was an original roll of coins that contained these (among many others):

Here is mine. It is from the dark side, but what a cool piece of history!!
Started a gold type set this year, so I’d say this is my favorite pick up for 2019.

Hard to pick but probably this ancient tetradrachm from Syracuse in ~405BC.
The artistry is superb: note the horse's underbelly veins, the rider's facial expression, and the goddess' eyelashes.
It cost me an arm and a leg but I have zero regrets.
This one. Spent a good part of the year and probably most of last year looking for a $20 lib with the look I'm after and found this one a few months back and just love it.
In daylight I can turn it into a DCAM
2019-S Reverse Proof ASE.
Duh!
Here is my favorite of 2019 - VF30 AMERICAI:
My 1820 B-5 bust quarter is my favorite. It’s the rarest die marriage for 1820, and it looks really nice for its grade, too. Image is a PCGS TrueView.
Definitely my 1824 Over Various Dates Capped Bust Half PCGS AU58

1893 Samuel Franklin Cody, Wild West Show, Grand Match, Copper, 13mm Diameter.
Wild West Showman Samuel Franklin Cody ventured to Europe at the end of 1892 to take advantage of the new popularity of bicycle racing. In 1893 he offered $10,000.00 to $20,0000.00 to any racers on a single or tandem bicycle who could beat him riding his horse. Although original posters advertising these events have survived the tokens just didn't. This is the finest of 3 survivors I've tracked research wise by a huge margin struck for children who attended the Grand Match Horse-vs-Bicycle competition in France. The size of this token may very well be the reason for the lack of survivors.

This was not a purchase, but rather a gift from a friend and forum member... I really like it...combines Churchill (one of my all time favorite individuals) with my Navy background....Cheers, RickO
The coin that got me interested again.
It would be hard to pick one, especially if you're like me and don't remember if you bought it in 2018 or 2019. Or was it 2017? Who knows.
Probably this one, but it is a tough call between this and the 1917-D type 1 SLQ I bought recently, a toned 1916 walker and some colorful gold.
Did you check the rim for extra letters?
This Isle of Mann 1st King of Mann High Relief 3 oz Silver is my unique favorite purchase of 2019.
One is due in today, so I can't say yet!
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
It would be hard for me to top this 1909 S VDB bought early in the year.

No I haven't, could there be some there? Obverse or reverse?
Hard to pick one coin, added a lot of nice gold this year. This is one of them 1854 $20 Large Date OGH that ended up getting cac’d
It's just a reference to the other thread where the 99-O had letters on the reverse rim.
I have my top 3
No coin purchases for me, this year. Living vicariously thru all of you! And, a bit jealous, too!
I did buy a coin software package - does that count?
Rocking my "shiny-object-syndrome"!!!
Hmmm....I think this one:
OK I'll be sure to look, thanks!!
A lot of nice purchases all around this year. Thanks for sharing them.
My favorite purchase for me for 2019 would be the 1865 Seated Proof dollar.

One of my favorite coins purchased early this year, has nice blue and lilac toning
That is a nice 1865 dollar!!
An oddball for the "Birth Year" set
This is my favorite. I've been doing some research on it and it might be ex Bass.
Not my flashiest coin purchase by far this year, but the preservation level of this one is so exquisite that it set a new standard for me as a collector of crusty classic US coins.
PCGS XF40
Probably these two:
My new pocket piece.... Picked up last weekend. I grade her AG 3
Here is one I thought I'd never see in person, let alone own it!
A Hard Times Token from Allaire, NJ struck over an 1820 large cent:
Dead Cat Waltz Exonumia
"Coin collecting for outcasts..."
I have two from this year that I can't decide which I like the most.
So I'll put both up.

Top 4 really hard to pick a favorite
It was not an American coin ...
This William II (Rufus) penny is incredible. I found it in a Heritage auction. Most of these coins were very poorly made and badly worn.
Here is the piece it replaced. This one is actually decent compared to some others I have seen. It worst fault is that the obverse die failed.
I have a lot of favorites but this was the most significant one. It’s in an old NGC number seven.
I like this one a lot too! In an NGC number three gold foil.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Man - some pretty cool coins being posted - congrats!
Recently upgraded my 50c Hawaii piece, courtesy of CRO - nice PL surfaces that are better in person - thanks, John!
Guess I'm kind of partial to this CC half....
Rustic, historic, and gosh darn it, I like it.....
