This man was considered alongside Jackie Robinson on Branch Rickey’s short list of “right players to break the color barrier” but if history is correct he sort of blew the interview by being too honest. One of the all time great Negro Leaguers whose name should’ve more well known…

I'm a bit confused. Are you suggesting Robinson was less than honest in his interview(s)? I mean as I understand it, Rickey's requirements were clear and wise. He knew there would be a tremendous pushback to a Black player in organized baseball. A Dick Allen/Colin Kaepernick type would have made it very difficult to get enough support to not get Black players be treated as equals, but at least allow Black superstars be allowed to showcase their talent. If I recall correctly, after Robinson had made it clear that a team refusing to hire players just because of race couldn't compete, Rickey allowed Robinson to give voice to his understandable anger at the way he'd been treated.

Silvio Garcia, the guy on the card who was on Branch Rickey’s short list, was the one who “too honest” in his interviews.

I really like this one because not to low of a grade in card and auto, yet not to high of grade in both that I can't afford it. Was waiting for the prefect middle grade to come along, finally found it.
Can't figure out why it's a PSA 7. Must be something on the surface I am missing, maybe a dimple or scratch. At any rate, fantastic eye appeal, and a great item. 1/1 no higher.

Last I knew, only 2 in PSA holders and mine is the only red one. $5 at a yard sale.

Dan, that is a REALLY cool Jimmie Foxx card!
Thanks! Great Palmer. I love 84D.
Just double checked the pop report and no other Uncle Jack’s Foxx cards have been graded since the last time I looked. There’s a PSA 3 blue version and my red.
Fewer than 90 copies from the entire set in PSA holders!
Not mine. Just found it odd that Beckett would slab such a thing.
They do say "anything"...

1976 Star trek Scanlens empty box. Got this from a gent in Australia. He said he has only seen 1 other like this condition, and 2 other that are more poor condition. He said that even in Australia these boxes empty or with packs are never found. One of the Grails of my 1976 Star Trek collection.
Notice it says 48 count. Only 3 cards per pack, no stickers with Scanlens Trek.
72 cards not 88 like Topps. I love that they had "Metro" gum, not Bazooka.

I stumbled on some boxes of these in 1994 at .50 cents a pack and really like them. Put together 2 sets and kept a bunch unopened with acts I like on top.
Picked up this graded one to see what is required to get a 10 on rounded edge cards in modern times. I doubt it will ever occur but if there ever is a $10 or less special again I have 110 of these in my grading pile. Still even at $10 it's not the smartest expense...
It's the singer not the song - Peter Townshend (1972)
I love how Donruss would often give you 3 of the same guy in the same 1981 pack. Or you'd get 20 of the same player in the same box. Plus, the photography looked like it was developed in the dark, at night and with no moon.

Do you like that player and that set or something? 😉

How much did it sale for is one of the funniest and most ignorant things I've ever heard.
Maybe they didn’t. Looks like a fake slab to me.

Here's the other side. It's currently on ebay so it will have to pass the guarantee if purchased.

I’ve never known Beckett to authenticate anything without assigning a serial number.

i also like how an idiot seller will list a miscut card, or with print dots as a "rare error" and list the card for $1000 BIN.
