Hey 51Wheaties,
Awesome job with your cuts!
Thank you, kindly. It’s a chance to be creative and flex some artistic muscles and as such, I really enjoy working with such items. I do like to be clear, though, that I don’t ever even consider doing this to a baseball card that isn’t considered hand cut.
To stick with the theme, I think this card may be in the thread already but it is the highest grade I have ever received for a hand cut card, it is a really unique and beautiful looking item (if I do say so myself 😂) and it is also currently the single highest graded example. While I imagine it is likely to be beat one day, it’s one of the items in my Mantle collection that I am always going to be proud of because I had a hand in shaping its appearance - with little guidance as to proper specifications - and someone besides myself deemed it the best they’ve ever seen, also, and slabbed it as such out in Newport Beach, CA…

Thanks! I like the cool pictures in this set. The Hendrix comes with two different back options (Cantanti and Bisvalida). I used to have a nice graded Doors card from the same set. Still wish I hadn't parted with that one...
For the team I root for, often, the way the team plays defense determines their success. It is their identity as a franchise and they can lay claim to one of the best to have laced them up from any era. Speed and power are germane to football; what set this man apart was a ferocity not often seen in sports. Therefore, I think there’s no better quote than his own to describe the way he played the game:
“Hey, baby, let’s go out there like a bunch of crazed dogs and have some fun.”

I’ll be blunt; I love the fact that Mickey Mantle and Notorious B.I.G. are both really well connected to the product three decades apart. The premium below came when dads in the early 60s sent cigar bands and $3.50 to the cigar maker in exchange for receiving this photo and a Rawlings kids model glove for their child.

Well, really two cards. Matched set with consecutive cert numbers. Hoping thse will really help supplement my retirement in a few years (assuming I live that long).
I purchased mine back in 2004. I submitted it to Beckett a few years ago, and I was told that the top of the card was trimmed. I had never felt so sick to my stomach in all of my life.
Do you have it still? And do you have a scan of it?
Anyone ever seen Blue Chips? Here’s a great story from that film set; a better movie than it gets credit for being. There’s a solid scene in the movie between the coach (Nick Nolte) and his friend and Athletic Director (Bob Cousy) wherein they’re discussing the program. I don’t want to spoil the movie but Nolte is confessing to Cousy about some program infractions but doing it like a child who is ‘asking for a friend’ when, in truth, they’re really asking for themselves. In addition to being perhaps the best scene of the movie, it featured something rather amazing. While it was supposed to be a seated chat, Nick Nolte wanted to show that he was a good athlete and suggested they shoot free throws instead. So he told Bob to shoot first and then he’d go. Well, if you’ve seen the movie, Nolte never shoots.
Bob Cousy, at 65 years old, made 21 free throws in a row.
Just pulled this on Friday afternoon. Awesome looking card and Donruss states it is "ultra-rare" SSP, although interested as to what the actual number of prints are for this insert. It is on its way to PSA already.

Thanks for the compliment but mine was the unsigned one that kicked it off. The drool worthy ones came from @blurryface and his amazing collection.
But, new day, new card(s). While these are not too tough to find, this was the first time I saw them with their distribution method with the original envelope:
The Mantle has a few dimples from being pressed against the metal tabs used to seal the envelope.
