Ugh, this thread... I was all set to send in my 79 hockey packs for grading and saving, but then I see no Wayne’s being pulled yet. Argh! Decisions decisions!
LOL, that is a dilemma. I have one too, but it's a rarity that I rip.

nothing too spectacular from the 2 box rip:

Collecting PSA 9's from 1970-1977. Raw 9's from 72-77. Raw 10's from '78-'83. Collecting Unopened from '72-'83; mostly BBCE certified boxes/cases/racks. Prefer to buy in bulk.
I ripped two of the 79T packs. Quality of the cards was very good overall. These 5 will all be heading in for grading. IMO have a shot a 9s and would be an upgrade on 8s for my set.

Did anyone except the bird magic showing up pull a rookie from the w 1980-1 basketball packs. still trying to figure out if i should grade or rip. I know i know rip but pack looks good too.

Haven’t opened my 80-81 pack. Sent 7 packs from this break in for grading yesterday - 3 ‘79 hockey, 2 Star Wars, 1 ‘76 FB cello, and 1 ‘80-81 BK. Grades are less important to me than certifying the packs as unopened for the long haul. Now the long wait begins...

Great decision to certify them for future appreciation.
Finally unpacked my order from BBCE rip. Did some side shopping to round out my order and fill up the empty 1987 Donruss case. None of this stuff will get ripped anytime soon. Tho I do have a growing pile of stuff to rip when next good company comes into town. Thanks again to Steve and Steve for a great group rip. Biggest one ever from what I was told!
My PSA pack submission logged this afternoon. Service is noted as 70 business day, but the handy “last week’s reality” view that PSA added to their service pages shows 96 business days for packs. Looking like 4+ months - I think I’ll wait until late August before I start crossing my fingers for good grades.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing the results!
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
I got poppage today as well. PSA 7s on 3 1979 Topps hockey and 2 1977 Star Wars Series 1, PSA 8 on 1 1980 Topps basketball, and a PSA 9 on 1 1976 Topps football cello pack. Happy with the 8 and 9 as I thought they might top out at 7 and 8, and the 7s were exactly as I suspected. When’s the next group break?

@PROMETHIUS88 - not yet. Will probably submit a few but there is one with a Giants Checklist on top that I for sure plan to rip someday as it may contain a Payton inside.

Lol, that's some self control right there. If i thought there was a better than average possibility, it would have been ripped first thing. Best of luck when you do!!
I must be in the rarity. As much as I love the idea of ripping vintage packs I can never seem to bring myself to do so. Luckily, I have Youtube and I can just sit back and watch others do it.

I hear ya. I guess it depends on what one considers "vintage"
I've been a part of these rips for, what, 11-12 years? I have never opened anything, just can't seem to do it. I think many times I have no plan to rip and at other times I would see the off centering on the 75 minis, and whatever else I purchased as a negative. So, just left them fully dressed. I even have boxes that I never even inspected the product inside, still sealed from BBCE. Some, I wrote the product description on the box and others I was out of town so long that I never got a chance to catalog what was inside. The wife would just put in in a plastic container for me. I guess one day, I'll grade or rip. Thanks for the picts guys.

I know that what I have ripped pales in comparison to what some of the big players on this Board have done, but when I think about the $$ now I weep. LOL
Someone once said it best. Don’t think about the ROI as the value of the cards from the pack, rather assess the value from an enjoyment of the activity itself. Kinda like going to a concert or baseball game.

My 7 year old self was a complete idiot for opening so many 1971 BB packs.
I sometimes reprimand my dear old mother for not buying a few packs of BB cards
every time she went to the grocery store and just hiding them some where, preferably
a big safe deposit box. I tell her she would have been the only one with enough
discipline not to open them. LOL.
Just think of the return on investment, about a hundred packs every year from 1965-1975.

The biggest lesson I've learned in this hobby, and in life, is that if you have a strong conviction, you owe it to yourself to see it through. Don't sell yourself, or your investments, short. Unless the facts change. Then sell it all.
I like the idea and hope we can get some people together on it. If we buy stuff now and want to have it slabbed, by the time it is sold out and received, then sent off to PSA, we should have it back before All Star break! I haven't checked the BBCE site for a couple weeks so I don't know what they have. Now we just need one of those great board members that is amazing at organizing these things. I'm a mess and can't even get myself dressed properly some days so I'm probably not the best option, lol.

Packing mine up now before the itch gets me!!
Decided to rip a couple cellos. One each of 83F, 84T and 85T.
85T had an unfortunate repeat. Why do these never include the guys you’d want to see repeated?
84T not much better. Did get the rare Topps puzzle pieces...LOL
83F did yield a nice RC and despite potential grade, it’s always fun to pull key RCs.
Pretty sure you can still sue Topps for those ‘84 Cello disasters. Good friggen Lord!
