Got some stars in my 84 Cellos and racks but not much else to speak of. Bought the cheaper stuff to rip and the 80 Basketball to have slabbed and put back. Not that it affected the cards, but did anyone else that purchased the 84 racks notice the moldy smell? Pert nasty

Times like this, I wish I still lived in Pittsburgh instead of RI... no shipping info, but I’m crossing my fingers for tomorrow and am jealous as can be of all you guys that have your product in hand!
@LOTSOS - I’m getting my first ever 79 packs... any secret to identifying the back cards? Bright light, blacklight, other?
Just got notification my package is arriving tomorrow via UPS Ground! Woohoo!
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Received mine today. Got excited when I saw Magic Johnson on the back, but then realized it was the middle card and not the right card. Still pretty cool. Star Wars packs look good. Little corner wear on one, but didn’t notice any tears at first glance.

These packs are pretty easy to see through. You should be able to pretty readily identify the team or at the very least the teams colors through the wrapper.
Then it gets fun. If you aren’t familiar with the set I would ebay search 79 Topps (insert team name here). You should then be able to pretty quickly narrow it down. The hardest cards are the multi player cards like Leading Goal Scorer or PIMS etc. the layout is the same and jersey colors aren’t easily spotted on most of the head shots. That’s the case with the two I can’t identify.
I'm not planning on ripping anything. My '81 rack has the Yankees team card on the top cell and two Pirates on the the back. My '83 rack has a Schmidt all-star in the center cell and Fred Lynn on the bottom cell. One '84 cello has Phil Niekro on the front. The other has a Brett all-star on the back. One '83 Fleer cello has Dale Murphy on the back. The other one has Pudge Fisk on the back.
Good haul. I'm jazzed.
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason. Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason. My Pirates Collection
received mine today. Cool to get a couple of leader cards on the front of the Rack packs. The Star Wars packs were not in great shape but everything else looks really nice.
Nice! Any stars showing on front or back of the 78 OPC packs?
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
I busted my lone 78 OPC pack:
Highlights were Mike Schmidt (60/40 centering with two very rough cut edges), Thurman Munson (95/5 centering and rough cut), and a decent Vida Blue!

I'm such an amateur. I mean, I get that this has value but being the wax card is this something to send in for grading?
I think Tim was celebrating the fact that you had the best card in the set showing through the pack. As such, the pack carries a significant premium if it remains in its unopened state. If the pack is in good shape I would strongly encourage you to grade the pack.
I received my packs today. No Magic Bird showing for me. Has anyone posted that pack yet? If not, we should have some pretty excited folks opening their shipments tomorrow. The odds keep getting better for those who are still waiting. It’s late so aside from seeing that I missed on the Bird Magic pack and seeing the Yaz on back 78 OPC pack I haven’t looked too closely at them. The 80-81 pack has a lot of wrinkles, the OPC and Star Wars packs look pretty sharp at first glance.
Mine got here yesterday!!
2-82 Baseball Cello
5-82 Baseball Wax
Never been involved in one of these before... Rip or no rip?
I'm leaning on Ripping 1 cello and 2 or three wax.
That might change this afternoon when I sit down with Mr. Woodford Reserve!
what is happening with 3 Boyz? I also have some 96/7 Chrome due and was wondering if that box is cancelled if he has not shown up. AS I have not received shipping notification

@UFFDAH said: @slum22 - check that 80/81 basketball over good. I believe the green W sticker means "with star showing". Red W/0 I believe means "without".
It would great karma if that card went to @slum22. Imagine the volunteers to run the next break!
But if that’s true about the sticker, @dan89 should check his pack also - his pic shows a green “W” sticker too...
Steve, beautiful pack with Yaz on back! I'm looking forward to opening my box later tonight!

I bought a pack from each box of the 80 Basketball. One pack at the green s"W/" sticker and the other had the "W/O" sticker. I could be wrong, but I think that the green is just from the box that had the Bird/Magic. Mine had no starts showing that I could see. The back card for sure was a common, it was easy to see.
Got my purchase today. Nothing of major note. One 84 cello has Boggs on top. Nothing of mine will be ripped. Great seeing everyone enjoying this again.
My package arrived today! All packs are in really good condition but no stars are showing so hope remains for those of you still waiting. My 79 hockey packs are off center but otherwise in good condition, and the centering of the other packs seems pretty good. The 2000s hockey and golf will probably be ripped this weekend but I will probably send some of the older packs in for slabbing and saving. Even if they don’t grade high, having them slabbed locks them down as unopened in case I want/need to sell them later on. Thanks once again to the Steves for doing this for us!
Thanks to Steve again for running this, huge amount of work to get this done.
Looks like some Board members got some great star packs! That Murray is incredible, especially because it’s so visible. The Yaz pack and Straw cello are great too.
Looking forward to my shipment with some add-ons that I will have to convince my wife were completely necessary. There was a lot of empty space in that 87Donruss case to fill up!
Conundrum - Loving my unopened baseball card collection....but really like ripping too
Mine still on target for Tuesday but I won’t be getting into it until Wednesday as Tuesday’s are really hectic for me. Too much fun looking at everything
Nothing too special, but I was happy to find that the gum in the wax packs was in one piece and the wrappers looked clean. No ripping. They'll all be packed away for safe keeping.

Al Toon. Former Badger. Go Bucky!!! Tooooooooooon.
Mine are to arrive tomorrow. Those 76 FB cellos look great. I should have bought 1 of them.
One of the bad things about living in CA - BBCE packages take longer to get here.

it's going to get ugly in my house tomorrow -- like a cat 5 hurricane passed thru with golf cards all over the place
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Don’t fret, I’m in FL and will wait till Tuesday. All good.
