And again, someone is blaming the Mint for following the Law. The $1 5oz dollar is part of the legislation driving these commems. From Public Law 114–282, 114th Congress:
Fixed it for you :
Congress really doesn't help matters by having two sizes of silver "dollars". Are they that psychotic? Did anyone ever hear their explanation for this moronic nomenclature?
All of the reports on the coins have been very positive. Sorry for the Mint criticism.

Just got off the phone inquiring about the 2-coin sets. Made for bulk submitters. Oh well, back to the original plan... which is no plan, yet.
Strange...ATS has a memo out re: submitting sealed packages for "Apollo Half Dollar Set" designation on both coins
Edit: oh, I see you were probably referring to the two coin SLAB....I would assume the set designation would be available for each separate slab. Two coin slab works if they are both the same grade
Saw that but the Apollo half is not attributed as being from the set....routine half with a Apollo label. The set designation is the outlier ...and...seems a bit pricey to me for the pre-sales

The half set is no longer on back order. Not sure how long that will last.
Okay, this always confuses me. What does this mean? As a set only 100,000 can be made, but 750,000 is the limit between all halves? Is the mint counting both coins in this set for a total of 200,000 halves? If the other halves have no product limits, could a bizarre purchase of 700,000 proof halves cut this set down to a top mintage of 50,000? Or say this extreme example, some company buys 750,000 proof halves immediately out of the gate, would that mean that no sets would be allowed to be minted?
"Mintage Limit: 750,000 (across all half dollar products) Product Limit: 100,000"
I asked the 750k question before and the response, which makes sense, is that the 750k referred to the Apollo halves in total. The 100k product limit referred to the set and the Kennedy exclusively
..and I did order more this am and yesterday's order went to processing (as did today's)

Original purpose for the call was to get the pricing/code to put on the submission form, but the 2-coin slab was not meant to be. So will probably send the best I have (one each of each type) for slabbing (minus gold?). The rest will be saved for the esoteric purpose of gifting (hoarding ). Also noticed the variations for the 50c went from 61 to 56. https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/2019-s-50c-apollo-11-50th-anniversary-dc/697686
My better half loved the pucks! After seeing the pucks she hardly looked at the gold or any of the other coins. Internal debate on getting more pucks...

Damn, my two orders are due Saturday 2/2. I can't wait...
8/23, have a feeling there will be cancellations due to the waiting time, keep an eye out boys and girls, this isn't over yet...

Five sentences, four questions.
Okay, this always confuses me. What does this mean? As a set only 100,000 can be made, but 750,000 is the limit between all halves?
Yes. All commemorative halves.
Is the mint counting both coins in this set for a total of 200,000 halves?
No. The legislation for this coin doesn't even recognize the Kennedy half. (It is a Mint creation.) The halves referred to, are the Commemorative half.
If the other halves have no product limits, could a bizarre purchase of 700,000 proof halves cut this set down to a top mintage of 50,000?
Technically yes. The half set isn't being legislated, it is a Mint product. The Mint is limited to striking 750K commems in any order.
Or say this extreme example, some company buys 750,000 proof halves immediately out of the gate, would that mean that no sets would be allowed to be minted?
This is the same question as the one above, but that's correct. If someone wanted to spend $21 million to corner the market, they technically could. (The Mint wouldn't allow it, but hey, we're talking theoretical, right? )
Again, the commem half take precedence over the half set, because it's legislated. The half-set itself is not, so would be secondary to the sale of the proof commems.
This is really an exercise in the law. Even the BBHoF half (which was the best seller in recent history), sold less than 450K...

I wrote this in another post....
The backorder dates given by the mint are extremely pessimistic. I suspect the backordered pucks will be available sooner than that.
Keep in mind the Mint only has one press that can do 3" rounds, so we're probably looking at not only a slow process (13 coins per minute, mentioned in the old thread here), but it also has to strike the ATB pucks as well, which is on their own schedule.
I imagine the ATB pucks will take precedence. They have to get both the bullion and collectors versions out on schedule.
That means we may see the Apollo pucks trickle out of the mint for the next few weeks/months.
If this is the case and no further pucks are released in the next couple of weeks, as explained someplace else in this thread, mine will get entombed...
Got my "puck" today and it appears to be flawless. Cudos to the Mint. It will be part of my 50th Anniv. Apollo 11 display. Pre ordered a 1 oz silver proof PCGS PRDCAM 70 (FS Moon Label) from Bullion Exchange, before they sold out.

Care to share? Im also on the fence on what and how to proceed with slabbing the set. Shame I hv to split them.
My understanding is the 2-coin slabs are meant for bulk submitters. I do not have the required number of coins (minimum of 100) to be a bulk submitter. Therefore, I will end up with two separate slabs of an ERP Kennedy and a clad PF Apollo, which is fine for me. I think other TPGS’s have different policies but have not checked.

It should just be for new orders. It's not a firm date.

Yum. Yum.
If only someone could talk the Hersheys Company into casting those in Gold Foil ( with a Milk Chocolate Center ).
My UPS signature-required package valued at over $1k was left on my doorstep today WITHOUT a signature. On the upside, at least I don't have to run over to the UPS distribution center tomorrow...
My shipping box arrived two days ago and I still haven't opened it yet. I think it is my "small" silver $ and my half set. I guess I'd better open it and find out.
I don't think my 5 ounce flying saucer has shipped yet.

@nurmaler any idea how many of the half sets are available again until backorder?

Any "real life" images of a puck in a pcgs slab yet? Curious to see how bulky it is. Can't tell from straight-on views.

Is that grease?
Don't quote me on that.
I'm not sure. It was posted on another forum by someone else. Looks to be some doubling above the top letters too.
What about that... something above D, S, T...
Very interesting @jwitten! Awaiting the expert responses.

How do you know I’m not an expert?
Looks like the grease is shadowing those letters when the die struck the planchet and smooshed (expert word) the grease out.

With DD's I'll have to increase your foot size or you'll keep falling forward.
Just received an email that my BEP Apollo Mission Engraved Print has shipped
Mine arrived today. At least I've got something now.
The slabs will have to be extra thick compared to the usual ATB 5 oz slabs. This could delay them showing up in peoples hands.
Yum. Yum.
If only someone could talk the Hersheys Company into casting those in Gold Foil ( with a Milk Chocolate Center ).
