Some Early Gold Type Examples are Available
I use the Lighthouse slab holders and use Premiere Slabs to house the GMMs. All are labelled and fit into my Type Collection nicely. Using these, I have been able to complete the entire US Type Coinage collection (except for some early gold).
Ron Landis engraved his dies as close to the original dies the coins were minted with. He engraved when indicated or stamped as with the numbers or dates as he researched and learned the original die cutters did. Joe Rust had the screw type minting press and pressing knowledge. What a team they were. They created reproduction coins as close to the originals as anyone has produced, even to this day. They used the same silver content as the originals so when you get a GMM Copy, you know it's as close to the original as you can get. Even the gold coins were minted with the original gold content.
Then, Joe Rust passed away. Ron seemed to have lost his impetus in continuing with their goal of reproducing the early US coins. The only early one they didn't reproduce was the Half Dime with the Heraldic Eagle.
Type collectors are missing out if they don't get these coins to fill their empty holes. Yes, there's other reproductions, but, they don't come close to the ones they minted.
Very cool! Ron's done a lot of great work with hobo nickels himself, along with medals and tokens for the OHNS.
It's great that Ron's initials are on this and it's attributed to him. It's interesting that it seems "TDW" is not known in as little as 30 years given the ANA Money Museum's caption.
It's amazing Bill Fivaz is Life Member #1! I'm guessing the LM in CLM means Life Member. I wonder what C means?

Well, it is posted by the official ANA Money Museum Twitter account, and the image seems to have an official ANA Money Museum accession number ("ANA# 2021.5.2"). I would take this to mean this is in the museum's collection now and not available for collecting any more.
This thread has inspired me to buy my first coin from them. Reverse is a mule of 1796 starred reverse with the 1794 large cent from their vintage stock.
I sprung for the Ides of March replica being offered this month at Landis Studios. Limited to 31 pieces (the days in March) five are struck in gold, and 26 in Silver. Same Material and weight as the original, so Obligatory copy stamp but you choose which side (I picked Obverse)
I also scooped two other “Ancients” but @ZoidMeister beat me to the ANA Hammer struck example... Nice pickup!
I have an interesting obverse die variety for GMM's 1794 $1 replica. It appears that one of the hair ends is a snake head, like Medusa. Haven't seen that before. I believe I got this from Adam Hardcastle many years ago.

I can’t really say as I do not own one but the die work does look like something belonging to Ron. He may have
needed to re-work the die and this was the result. Pretty neat either way as he does super awesome engravings.
.
He’s in the middle of re-working a die from a previous striking of a medal he did years back and going to have it for sale
soon. It would be interesting to compare the original medal to the new one he strikes and see the differences.
.
I’ve also noticed that even though these were marked copy there can be several different strikings because the reworked the dies for one reason or another. This makes them even more special in my opinion.

Here is my Reverse COPY stamped 1794 dollar
Definitely looks like a different Obverse Die... look at where the last hair curl falls in relation to the stars
I also have an obverse COPY stamped one, I need to image it and report back
. Originally created in 1994, Ron re-engraved the die to create this 2022 medal depicting the place he calls home, Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The new version is higher relief and with sharper details than the 1994 medal. Available in .999 fine silver and copper. 35mm(1-3/8”) diameter, the thick medals have a nice weighty feel.
.
This latest acquisition is actually broad struck out of collar in the same manner as Judd J13/P15 on white metal (pewter) cobs. Only 4 of the original pewter patterns exist, two broad struck as seen below.

One can find Ron Landis / GMM mini-mint tokens commemorating ANA, FUN, or Numismatic Club shows all day, every day minted up in pewter / white metal.
That seemed to be the medal du jour when Ron & Joe traveled around making them. Off-metal strikes however seem to be as rare as "hens teeth."

I think hands down, this is the most beautiful die pair that Ron Landis has ever engraved.
It's his die trial reproduction of the Judd J12/P14 1792 US Quarter Pattern.
An amazing piece of US Numismatic History, and one of Ron's most faithful designs.

The Importance of Provenance
.
.
Remember about a year ago when I bought and first posted this pair of counterstamped Sacagawea Dollars?
.
.
.
.
It was clear to me at the time who the creator of these pieces was, but trying to pin down the why and when proved elusive.
On the surface they were an interesting pair, but without the "backstory" they remain just that.
.
.
.
.
.
One year later, the original seller reached out to me and said that he found some additional information on these two.
He told me the information offered the "Paul Harvey" rest of the story about these two pieces.
Well, the envelope arrived today. What it contained transformed this pair from "interesting" to "spectacular."
Here is what the envelope contained.

Provenance is important.
