No other details, but we're looking at an August 14 release date.
Since it is a 2018 coin then the longest it can sell for is through the end of the following year of mintage. In this case end of 2019. So there is only 4 1/2 months of sales? Unless some type of exception occurs.
Forgive my ignorance, but I knew nothing about this coin prior to seeing this thread...
That being said, are they going to be issued as part of a proof set of multiple coins...or do they need to be purchased separately...which would be a royal pain from a storage point of view.
@RichR said:

Lucky you. It hurts my sensibilities thinking of a 57 brassbuck series minted for collectors only. I guess they need to do something with those dollar presses....
That being said, are they going to be issued as part of a proof set of multiple coins...or do they need to be purchased separately...which would be a royal pain from a storage point of view.
Which are you talking about?
Proofs will come in sets, but the reverse proof coins will be stand alone. (As will both Intro coins.)
So, yep. A full set of reverse proof coins will be like 57 proof sets. It would be nice if they just sold them in capsules...
The intro coin (2018) came out as PRs and in bags and rolls. As of late, there seems to be 2018 reverse PR due to be released in Aug 2019. So that means there will be a little over four months for these to be available if the Mint follows the usually year of coin plus the following year for availability. Won’t know until more info is released by the Mint.
I'm drawing a blank on this, but I know forum members here can provide an answer to this trivia - when was the last time that a Mint coin debuted in a calendar year different from the date on the coin, and the coin was dated the previous year? Seems odd that they just didn't put 2019 dates on these coins.

It's been a while.
We came close with the 2015 Limited Edition Silver Proof set, which would probably been issued in 2016 due to packaging problems, except the 30th Anniversary ASE laws prevented it. So the entire set was canceled that year.
The reason they didn't put a 2019 date on it, is because the law specifically stated the Intro coin was a 2018 coin. It's the only year that coin could have been issued.
I am hoping for an official explanation on the RP Intro Innobuck. I suspect we'll see something as we get closer to the August release date...

Prepping for four months of availability of the 2018 RPR AI.
It’ll be weirdly fun!
Where are you getting this info? They're going to sell that puppy until the cows come home.
I'm pretty sure the two year limit was a policy change, and not a law, especially since the Mint is still selling 2017 products on their web site...
Yes, 2017 “regular” coins.
The AI is a “commem.” I’m going to have to read sec 5113, Title 31. Since the AI law was an amended insert.
It's not a commem. 31 U.S. Code § 5112 (which is what I assume you meant) is the specifications For U.S. Coinage. It covers all coins.
Now, if you should have a beef with anything, it's this:
(ii)First coin.—Notwithstanding subparagraph (A), if the Secretary finds that it is feasible and cost-effective, the Secretary may mint and issue a $1 coin in 2018 to introduce the series of coins described in this subsection, that—...
As far as I know, the Mint doesn't have authority to issue the coin in 2019. The law hasn't been amended as far as I can find.
Now, I suppose their response will be they did release the coin in 2018. The RP version is still the same coin, just with a different finish. (Which is a valid point.)
I'd still like to know when they struck the things, though. I'm sure someone will file a FOIA...
@Hemispherical said:
No end dates. But four states have to be minted each year.
Yeah, that's why it's funny to see all four with TBD dates this late in the year. We're either going to see them being released about 4-6 weeks apart, or there's going to be a innobuck fest at some point where they all go on sale at once. That'd be fun...

HHL of 5 has been added.
Thank goodness. Well, that's still 4 more than I was going to get... Okay, maybe I'll get two, in two separate orders, and save one for my brown box collection. (And thank goodness for the loyalty program...)
It boggles my mind that given the number of proofs they've sold, this could actually sell out, especially with a relatively low entry price. Compare this coin to the NA C&C set, which is $6 more just for the FRN. Both are special finish coins based on coins minted only to collectors in the first place. (Chew on that last sentence for a while.) Not a first day or even first week sellout, but they'll probably sell out.
I am still leaning in the direction of doing a RP set, but 57 of these folders is like a shoebox full.
5 months left in the year, and all of the 2019 Innobucks are still TBD. This is getting close to joke territory...
Also predict sellout due to number of PR already sold, number of sets in the registry (ies), a product limit (PL), and a PL not in the six digit range.
Expect an initial strong demand of 70s that will peak, drop, and level-out as usual.

Might be a sell out in a couple of days or no later than Sunday

This first year for the states is going to be wild. Airplane dropping tooth brushes on trees filled with peaches watched by someone with a telescope!
Trying to gauge demand. Raw PRs are low. Slabbed 70s still have some draw.
These RPR, just don’t know but keeping a 2018 coin going into 2020 is going to be weird. Along with a flood of x4 2019 State AIs.
Then 2020 reminds me of the Mayflower non-“commem” silver/gold.
