Well it was my birthday and I heard heritage was good so I bought two boxes. Hit two autographs (Muncy and Story) and an SSP Acuna Jr. french back. Nice stuff, but the good old days are gone. You used to get 4 chrome cards a box and now with the odds, you get 5 chromes a case. Good luck to all!
Last time I did Heritage in force was 2007. The reg chromes were printed to like 1958 or whatever to match the year being highlighted. Now they are less than 1,000 printed. MUCH TOUGHER .... out of all that retail I busted yesterday I pulled two regular chromes. One refractor. Then the purple hot box.
Maybe because not many have been ripping yet, but I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion about Topps including ALL of the superstars and desirable players within the 400s on the checklist, where the SPs reside. Last year, the odds were 1 SP every 3 packs, or 8 per box, or 96 per case. If those odds are the same this year, you will at best get only one of the star you're looking for PER CASE. If lady luck is not with you, you could rip a whole case and never see a Trout or Acuna or Soto.
I jumped in an ordered a couple of boxes directly from Topps. Once you add in shipping and tax, I don't think I saved any money. $85 a box at Topps, versus $95 box at Blowout or Dave & Adam. (I don't believe they charge for tax or shipping so it was a wash). I bought a couple of the "2019 Heritage Baseball Online Exclusive Box", which were $22 each. I think they come with an extra pack (9 versus 8). Just seems like I spent a lot of money.... for what I am getting... got my fingers crossed... haha

I think 8 SP per box has been the standard, hasn't it? When there were only 75 in the set, it was possible to get the whole set in one case... I thought the SP's were getting squeezed out by all the other chase cards. Even making the subsets like the "Then and Now", "Flashbacks"....tougher to complete.
The SP hit ratio is fine. Just like I remember it. Problem is there are 100 of them on top of the subsets. It's the CHROMES that are getting squeezed out by production.

I don’t know the significance of Purple Chromes yet (they aren’t numbered) but I just ripped a 8 pack retail box that had a purple chrome in EVERY pack.
Is the purple an exclusive to the retail store you got them at? I think they are
It's not the SP ratio that is the problem, it's the fact that the entire SP checklist is made up of All-Stars and superstars and rookie cup cards. Every player that you literally want to actually own is an SP. Meanwhile, middle relievers and backup infielders will clog up your collection at a ratio of 7:1 or whatever it is compared to the number of Trout or Ohtani or Harper or Bryant or....name any star, and I bet they're in the 400s on the checklist.

Means nothing to me as I build a master set so I want just one of all of them. But I get it.

OK, yeah I agree. They are trying to "artificially" create value by making the superstars SP's. Kind of turning them into chase cards. But is that new?

Also Dave (magellan) take a look at your 25 SPs from your first 3 boxes. Topps is pretty good about 8 per box, so one of those 25 might be a variation (ie. action, trade, error, etc....)

That's a nice looking piece of cloth. What's going on with the bottom right corner? I'd hate for you to say it's flawed.
