My friends Eurasian eagle owl.
It's real mean! I had to get out of there before it attacked!

Wow, I've studied a few owls that live in New England, but that is one large owl.

The Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo) is a species of eagle-owl that resides in much of Eurasia. It is also called the Uhu and it is occasionally abbreviated to just the eagle-owl in Europe. It is one of the largest species of owl, and females can grow to a total length of 75 cm (30 in), with a wingspan of 188 cm (6 ft 2 in), with males being slightly smaller.
@1630Boston"Wow, I've studied a few owls that live in New England, but that is one large owl."
Yes it is!
It also has the worse temperament of any animal I have ever seen.
I was only able to snap 2 photos of the before I had to run away.
It will attack and send you to the hospital.
I would rather be locked in a cage with an attack K-9 than this bird.
My friend also has a small owl about the size of a softball and it is full grown, it is very cute.
The small owl was locked up yesterday while it's cage was being cleaned so I was not able to get a picture of it.
I'm going back today and hope to get a few photos of the little one and maybe some better photos of the eagle owl.
Edited to add:
Here is a photo of the same owl from 2015. This photo makes it look a little smaller but it's not. It tries to attack though the chain link. Look at those orange eyes and the large talons!

Owls don’t just hoot—they also can yelp, screech, and shriek. This Barred Owl transitions from a high-pitched wail (which may be a regionalism or an alarm call) into its lower and more commonly-heard “who-cooks-for-you-all.”

I would guess it would rather be free and able to fly in the wild.
Eurasian owls are not native to America and are only available with a permit to have them, it is illegal to release in America.
It was not injured, it was bought as a baby to be a pet. If you want to call it a pet.
Yes, it’s tap water. But it’s just an illusion, it’s not really floating. I have an upside down clear plastic pill bottle underneath the quarter and added the water drop by drop until the surface tension made it appear like it does 😉

Kayaker hunts down alligator in Mass. river, saving its life
An initial search for the reptile four months ago when it was first seen swimming near the Morgan Sullivan Bridge was unsuccessful, as were efforts when it was spotted again in early October, according to WWLP.
On Monday, a viewer sent to WWLP a video of the gator swimming near the Big E fairgrounds, sparking another search.
“Several kayakers were inspired to try to locate and capture the animal but were unsuccessful,” MassWildlife stated, according to WWLP. “On Tuesday, one persistent kayaker found and captured the reptile, and subsequently contacted state wildlife officials.”
It was Jeremy White, 26, who located the small gator and pulled it into his kayak. He used duct tape to close its mouth and cover its eyes.
“It was just freezing cold; its eyes were closed,” White told WWLP. “[It] didn’t really put up too much of a fight. It’s a little surreal, I guess.”
For those who have been following the tented construction saga, here are updates from this morning:
Above pictured are the wood forms being removed after the concrete was poured for the basement walls. Amasingly the concrete was able to be poured during a week that saw sub zero temperatures. Looks like framing will be the next step in this now mid winter house construction.
The winter construction update - The Tent is lifted.
After a brief hiatus, here are ontinuing updates on the winter house construction saga:
The tent went back up:
But a strong wind came and blew the tent down:
And this week once again went back up:
With construction work resuming this [Friday] morning as cement trucks were seen headed to the construction site.
