Friday arrives as Thanksgiving concludes and the signs of Christmas ahead emerge.
Pictured - Assembly of the annual holiday gingerbread village begins to take shape under the direction of the head baker and master craftsman:
And a piece of the just baked assembly is accepted from the pastry artist for tasting evidencing a Tootsie Roll taste with the texture of a soft graham cracker.
Seeing winter is coming snow pics are OK?
This was from last year.........Confucius says: "Runner duck, who is fast as Hell on dry ground, goes nowhere in the snow"........... (and actually I had to go out there and pick her up to bring back to the coop)

The elusive Green Flash at sunset here in San Diego County, by the Imperial Beach Pier. (I didn't take this one. Wish I could capture that. https://sam-antonio.pixels.com/ is the guy's site. He does exceptional work.)
It is still Friday - at least here in my time zone.
Pictured are photos taken from this Friday evening with the vantage point looking south west toward the Kenai Peninsula.
The large Mountain seen in the final photo (which almost appears to be a cloud rising from the water) is Mount Redoubt an active volcano that last erupted in 2009 and is 110 miles distant from where I was positioned taking the photo.
FWIW, below are photos taken earlier in the week by my brother as he flew his plane over the volcanic mountain range seen in the distance behind the tree pictured in the above posted photos which I took today. The featured mountain (including its volcano crater as evident in the final photo) is Mount Spurr which most recently erupted in1992.

For those who have been following the tented construction saga, here are updates from this morning:
Above pictured are the wood forms being removed after the concrete was poured for the basement walls. Amasingly the concrete was able to be poured during a week that saw sub zero temperatures. Looks like framing will be the next step in this now mid winter house construction.
The winter construction update - The Tent is lifted.

^ Did they also paint the foundation walls with a black waterproof coating before applying the rigid blue waterproof backing?
Can never have too much waterproofing.
Excellent question. While I missed seeing the application of the rigid blue waterproof backing, I did go back and locate some close-up photos with the backing in place. It appears that there is a barrier of some sort between the rigid blue waterproof backing and the foundation walls. If not painted it appears to be something akin to tarpaper which may well be in addition to painted waterproofing.

@hammer1 , @1northcoin …it looks like they wrapped the foundation in ice and water barrier. That stuff isn’t cheap. I put in on my entire roof when I stripped it down 2 years ago.

I love the poured concrete walls! That's like living in a bunker, it should last forever...
Very nice!

Maybe because I was a kid, gingerbread men tasted much better in the 50's than they do now.

Had to reread that twice. The first time I thought two small diamonds had been used to purchase an amethyst ring.

I hate weeding.
Having Bonsai plants on a watering system means that I had to pull weeds about 6 times a year which I hate.
I spent a lot of time, energy and expense so I never have to pull weeds in this area again.
