Re: Did anyone go to same high school w/ a future pro athlete?
I went to HS with Gary Leonard, who went on to play at Mizzou and then a couple of years with the Timberwolves. He was one year ahead of me in HS and was already about 6'10" back then. What was really a sight is that he was friends in HS with a "little person" (a dwarf), so you'd see this massively tall guy talking to this… -
Re: First Baseball Game Attended
My first MLB game was in 1957 at Comiskey Park. White Sox vs Tigers. I will never forget Nellie Fox making what could have been an "unassisted" triple play. Runners on 1B and 2B when a line drive was hit over the pitcher. Nellie caught the ball, came down on second base and threw over to first for a triple play - the… -

An incredible piece of advertising from Civil War die sinker Joseph Merriam
Here is an amazing find that relates to my favorite die sinker, Joseph H. Merriam of Boston. It was found in a large collection of pre-Victorian postcards and advertising cards of Massachusetts. It is a very rare cardboard advertising card (slightly bigger than a baseball card) from the shop of Merriam & Co, circa 1865,… -
NL - ROY - Puig deserving or not?
I am a Dodger fan but it seems like even if Puig continues putting up numbers at his current pace he should NOT win the ROY. Curious what others think. Just doesn't seem like quite long enough playing. I would rather have a guy play 150 games and hit .290 then a guy play 90 games and hit .330 let's say... just looking at… -

A few more "newbie" questions...
OK, I have been following along here for a couple of months (learned a lot) and decided I will make my debut post to the forum. 1. What kind of magnifying glass (device, whatever) do you recommend (for looking at coins--I've read these boards and some of you guys have a strange sense of humor). 2. How do you identify… -
New VAM Finds Today-Morgan and Peace
Went to the shop, just to pass time. I wanted to give a thorough look through the 21S Morgans, because I never paid much attention to them before. I asked Wolf what the Thorn Head looked like and he referenced the VAM book to get an idea. So, based on that, I went in knowing a little of what to look for. Out of 15 21S…
