1982 Bronze Large Date MS62BN
It's a Pop 1 with none higher.
Awesome!!

<< <i>By the looks of the PCGS #, yours is the variety. Probably top pop since they put up a pic. >>
They put up a pic because it was submitted under Secure Plus. All Secure Plus coins get a pic.
I'm not seeing a variety other than Bronze Large Date which makes me wonder why someone would submit this common coin under that submission level and expense.
I don't understand??
The name is LEE!
I'd love first shot at that one if it is ever available.
a lil concerned about that spot above the left top of the memorial...hopefully it's dormant
congrats though
If the OP wants to have all 8 this is what has to be done.
<< <i>Beautiful coin. Looks MS63 BR to me.

???? Its a common penny found everyday.
The submmiter must have made a mistake.
"Is it the Brown designation that matters?"

For the Pop 1, yes.
There's a MS65RB, which is Top Pop for Red
and Brown, and there're 9 MS67RD coins for
that designation of the '82 Large Date.

Worth 2,500% more to me (at the very minimum).
You guys are missing a tremendous coin here. It's not like they come around often.

No, they come around all the time, it's just not everyday that someone spends the money to get one slabbed.

This is my favorite thread of the week, so far.

I have seen a lot of coins more confusing in slabs. Like commen dat Barber dimes in good???????
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
Would the OP please come back and tells us why he had it slabbed?
I have slabbed dimes paying both grading and attribution fees that were not worth that much.
<< <i>Greg, I don't think he wants to sell it.

He said why on the first page of the thread - because of the strike doubling. He even asked if he should have ponied up for the variety plus service. He also posted on a different thread asking if PCGS would attribute it as a new variety, though I don't expect you to have seen that. Basically, he made an installment payment on his numismatic tuition.
Also, there are only seven varieties of 1982 cents, the 1982-D small date was not struck in copper.

Now, are you saying that there is some type of doubling on the coin?
I couldn't see any on the PCGS pic, but it is small and might not be seen.
My main goal is to get an example of each varity from 1982, 1972, and 1955 It's not about the value of the coins. Its all about collecting and passing these sets on to someone in the future so they have a unique piece of american history. from different years. I asked about this coin because I have never seen one with this type of damage doublig etc. on both sides. ( If someone has a pitcure of lincoln cent with odd lettering all the way around on both sides please post a pitcure that would be greatly apprecaited )
The reason I asked if I should have submitted it under the variaty submission was after reading about different varaties ( here ) I didn't know if pcgs would contact you if your coin was a new varity or not.
I apprecatite everyones feed back.
All in all It's still a cool coin :-)

<< <i>I have never heard the term machine damage to describe a kind of doubling has anyone else? >>
Thats a negative. Two different things, as everyone knows.
