Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

Lets build a 1952 Topps set.

I dont anticipate ever owning an entire 52 set, but I thought it would be cool to do one right here with everyones help. Lets post cards in numerical order of the entire set until we reach the Mathews.
Graded, raw, beaters, whatever you have. I think it will be cool to see the set this way.

Rules:

1) You must own the card(s). No ebay pics or borrowing pics from someones registry.
2) Lets try and do this a card at a time or a few at most, that way everyone can contribute.
3) Have fun!!!

I'll start it out.

..and if we are card flippers, but currently have in our possession the card currently up for scan, then we can list it?

I would imagine there are a few members who have the whole set. Just hope that they see this thread. I'll check out my inventory when I get home tomorrow. I have a good number of 52s, especially low #s.

I too wish I had some to contribute and post.

Great idea for a thread. Let's see number #9.

Doug, if you were posting a card every 5 minutes I'd say you were hogging. You are doing a great public service for the board!!!

I have a suggestion - I think the OP might want to list the first 80 - e.g. - and have people sign for which card they would like to post.

  • I would like to make a suggestion. Personally I would like to see scans of the back of the cards. I would like to learn about each player as we go along. I will probably never own a '52 set and I would like to learn about each player. I was born in '75 so this to me is history. Someone mentioned it ealry about who some player was. You never know we all might learn something in this thread as we go along.

    Thanks for the consideration

My apologies Doug sorry to keep you and everyone waiting. Meeting ran late, like they ever run short. Just some quick history of the Bobby Hogue card, this guy (card) is very hard to get in top condition. Really hard to find centered and you will see high prices in 7 and 8 condition for this card. #9 is out of the way, now batting #10 Al, Al, Rosen, Rosen.

Some of the autographed 52's I have are Slabbed ... some are raw ... some look nice while others are a little beat up.

Presenting a beat up raw AL ROSEN:

I didn't see that anyone had earlier dibs on Basgall #12 so I'll jump on it. Another very difficult card to find centered (i.e. mine is not) and goes for big bucks in high grade. This card has really good corners and great gloss. Lucky #13 is next!
