    Walt,
I am having the same issue with the green tints. If the majority of the background is green, then is the card a green tint???

<< <i>!) heritage release day should be a national holiday.
    2) Either Im really unlucky or I can't tell the green tints. I have found only one in 14+ boxes.
    3) This thread needs more scans!

Here is the scan I promised. Not sure what I am going to do with the card but always looking for offers. I usually end up Ebaying a higher dollar card. If anyone is wanting to trade, I only trade for cards I need from my web site. Sorry if the picture is huge but I wasn't sure how to size it...

What Zep didnt pull a bar of gold yet? Unsual.

Ok box 1 of 3 is ripped not much to cheer about but people like scans so here we go. I really like the art on the back of the cards this year.

    Box Breakdown
    2 chrome
    1 crome refractor
    1 NAF
Box hit I have Josh Willinghams wood.

Top is add panel I really like the backs of the checklists.

    image

Back of the add panel and relic card. Showing the Damon because I though it might be a diamond varation but then figured all Ray's jerseys are like that.
    image

Off to box two. Back in a bit.

More depressing than what I've pulled is the lack of any Dice-K cards in Series 1 or heritage this year - he doesn't suck that bad Topps!! I mean I see people like Jeter, Pujols and Lincecum on cards - where the hell is Dice-K?

Does anyone know why the first 100 or so card numbers are a smaller font than the rest of the set? Is this something that happened in 1962?

    << <i>

<< <i>Can someone please point me in the direction of the complete SP/Variation checklist. I didn't see it in previous 20+ pages and google is giving me nada. Your help is appreciated. >>

I posted this back on page 10 - I updated it a little, but not a lot.

This may be old news to some, but I thought I'd type up a comparison between the sets.

first, keep in mind that in the original 1962 set, cards 110-196 were all available with a green tint variation, which it looks like Topps copied - but not only green, but in blue (exclusive to Wal-Mart) and red (exclusive to Target). It looks like the greens are falling one per case, which means they're pretty darn short printed, but not as bad as the SSSSSSSSPs in recent years. In addition, some of the players in that number range had pose variations, one a regular card and the other green tinted. >>

    Great post, Geordy. image

Can you explain the black-bordered cards too?

Is this the first year Heritage has variants like this? I'm not a fan.

I noticed this font issue on the chromes, except card #4 Cabrera is the bigger font. Personally I think the printer screwed the chrome cards up royally and topps
tried to salvage when they could. Any 1962 experts here who can comment on the number fonts on the back?

    Thanks

In the original 1962 Topps set, cards 1 to 109 have a small baseball on the back with the card number inside it. From 110 on it has the regular sized baseball.

Box 2 of 3 much better. Weird box as it had 2 box toppers (Add panel and buyback). Quite a few packs had 10 cards and a few were backwards. Good yield though!

Orginally thought the box hit was buddy I was chatting it up with AZ a few weeks ago Clayton Kershaw but that proved to be incorrect

Final box, nothing to fancy. I do like the add panel I must say and the chrome looks sweet with the red.

Edit to add: Good luck to everyone who has yet to rip. I will try to get a trade list put together.

good question - in the original, #110 is Bill Skowron and #400 is Elston Howard - both Yankees in '62.

Finally got some boxes and rack packs at the local W-mart. I bought 3 blasters and had a blast opening them last night.

I haven't been keeping up with the whole thread here, but I'm not sure if anyone noticed that card #316, "Mauer Send One Into Orbit" mirrors the '62T set where the card is "Killebrew Sends One Into Orbit". Great idea!

Opened a couple more boxes between rounds of my true love (sorting thousands of Heritage base cards and ending up with a mild case of carpel tunnel and a major case of backache) and pulled this...

I believe Topps also produced the smaller numbers to make the cards more difficult to sort.

Since I don't do chromes or refractors it isn't a big deal to me, the short prints seemed to fall a little better in retail this year than in years past.

I have only opened one box of the hobby so far, but I pulled card #224 Casey Coleman. The "2011 Rookie" star is white instead of yellow...is that a variation? (white instead of yellow)

    Thanks!

wow, I just got raped on over 80 bucks in retail. I didn't really pay attention to the SP's but it did look like I was pulling
them at a better rate, but still, a few chrome cards and that is it. OUCH

I will be doing another Q&A with Clay Luraschi from topps. I should have it on my blog in the next few days. If you guys have any questions for
Clay shoot them to me and I will try to get them in.

    Thanks
