This is a sale by one of the known owners of the MS67 High Leafs. He listed it as a buy it now for more ($16K, I think) and got a $10K offer. He called me today for my opinion on whether he should take it. I said it was a good offer.
Edited to add: Actually it was listed for $17K initially.

Guess I should have tried to cross this one before selling it.

I wish I could find the post where someone said these are totally dead. Guess they still have legs after all this time. Where will they be in 20 years?
Unbelievable!! I am constantly amazed at the lengths (financially especially) collectors will go to obtain these little metal discs. Now for those 'modern bashers'... How's that grab you??? Cheers, RickO
I congratulate the seller of the one of only two WI High Leaf MS67 graded by PCGS. The sales price of 10K is 2/3 of the PCGS Price Guide which is pretty good considering the lousy economy. Now, many maybe checking their WI Quarters for possible Upgrades !! I wonder if sensible money could have bought this coin back in the haydays of 2005 - 2006 !! This coin would look great in my $6.95 WI quarter money clip !! Again, maybe there is some light at the end of the multi-year tunnel for these varieties !! I have thrown my crystal ball away several years ago. Congratulations are in order !! It's time to drink the Champagne !!
<< <i>Holy Cow! Great for both parties. I ask out of ignorance, is this sort of purchase a registry thing? >>

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
To put this in perspective, this coin could not have been bought in 2005-2006 for anything less than $50,000. In that same time 3-piece MS-67 NGC sets were selling on eBay for $6500 to $8500 peaking at $10,000.
....WOW!! i now have a new respect for corn on the cob!!

OK then the 2009 Ultra High Relief is junk also! Right .. It only took the Mint over one hundred years to bring out "the best designed and most admired American coin designs of ALL TIME ... sir! Choke on that MODERN MARVEL .. dinosaur! I hate looking at old junk that has been cleaned to perfection again ..those dirty old foxes!

Hey..Hon..I just spent $10 Grand on a quarter from the mint that has an extra leaf on on it.....!!!... Good for you ..Now take out the garbage and warm up the car..we're goin' shopping for things that really shine..and they 'aint leaves....
<< <i>I'm shocked when I think of what true rare coins you could buy with $10,000..... >>
I'm shocked that rare moderns bring so small a fraction of what rare classics bring. Normally more recently dated coins are in more demand than older coins and often bring more. When I was a kid a common and very new '50-D nickel could sell for close to $250 in todays money while a "scarce" Wisconsin variety can be had in unc for about the same.
You can put together one heck of a modern collection for $10,000 if you're willing to do a lit- tle work.
Stewart probably has a cache of 68's in the making stashed away

I'm shocked he had to ask.

Where will they be in 20 years?
I think I made this coin when they were first showing up.
I am embarrassed to think how much I sold it for at the time
