29-S buff, last of my Baltimore newPs

Despite some ill placed hits, I still thought this one was pretty with great luster and color. So this will do until I can pry loose from the hands of a fellow board memeber (and you know who you are) the one I really covet. While grade is made up of several components, I feel that sometimes luster alone gets a coin to a designated grade. So what do you say?

I'd say that coin has a lot of luster AND a good strike!

    65?

That wouldn't happen to be an Angel Dee's coin would it?

    Congrats on the pickup!image

I have to give credit to blue62vette for the image. There is an unsightly hit right above the braid on the obverse and scattered hits on the reverse.

Just awesome. That piece has some serious mint bloom, an irridescence to it that is pretty incredible. It's hard to find luster like that, and it looks utterly original to me--one dip, and it would disappear. It's a sensational, high-grade piece.

By 1929 San Francisco finally got the knack on producing better looking coins.
Denver also caught on around this time. The die steel wad better, plus both branch mints finally learned how
to properly harden their dies for use.

There still was a lingering (but not major) quality to the coins, and higher grades are still tough.

I think this is one of the good ones. Knock it up one point for the toning. It is a little shallow in the center by the braid.

    65.

I really like that coin. The marks on the Buffalo's body are not a huge distraction. I think it's worth 66 money even if it got a 65.
There is no "AT" or "NT". We only have "market acceptable" or "not market acceptable.

Wow! If it weren't for the hit above the braid, I'd say MS66! Great toning and fabulous luster. Taking the hit in consideration, the coin is a very nice 65.

Very nice Buff... 65 I would say... great luster, too bad about the tarnish. Cheers, RickO

While this wasn't a guess the grade per se, it is graded 65.

Hhmm, a certain somebody I know has one with an absolute freakish strike for the date, and that same board memeber has another that is a cherry picked a high grade two feather.
