Program Data Manager for a large Pharmaceutical Company.

I'm in charge of setting up the collection of data obtained during a clinical trial, ensuring the data is error free and honest, ensuring that everything we (the company) does is in line with the requirements set forth by the countless national and international regulatory agencies, ensure that when the sites report data that isn't clear that we properly ask them to clarify their response, etc. etc. At the end of the day, the work I do makes sure that what our clinicians and statisticians see in the MASSIVE tables of data at the end of the study is a correct representation of what all the sites collected/observed during the study.

I'm currently assigned to two different compounds and am in charge of all the clinical trials we do on those two compounds. It's a great deal of work, but it gives me the opportunity to travel the world to give presentations on our data collection methods to the investigators who will be starting up on our trial. (Investigator Meetings). There's also a modicum of job security since no matter what happens, clinical trials have to be run. Our work determines whether or not a new compound the company has developed is effective in the population it was designed to treat, and also does not cause any severe unwanted effects. Whenever you get a prescription and the pharmacist gives you a pamphlet with a lot of information in there about potential side effects, it's the work that people like me do which determines what goes on there. The amount of the drug you have to take to get the desired effect is also something that my data management helps determine.

Wow. I can type pretty fast I just realized. image

I'm a propmaker in the IATSE Local 44 in Hollywood, CA. I build anything from sets to props for movies or tv shows. Last year I worked on Iron Man II, The Green Hornet, Thor, and Hot Tub Time Machine to name a few of the big ones. Right now I've been working on the reshoots of Iron Man 2. I gotta say that I normally don't get caught up in watching movie stars, but Robert Downey is worth watching. That guy has Tony Stark down!!

I spent about a week and a half there doing some deployment work ups.

I remember it was cold as helll, and the training was useless (inside joke). Could have done the same on Lejuene.
