I am a Senior Network Engineer
    and
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert - CCIE #6699

There are about 20,000 CCIE's worldwide and slightly under 5500 in the United States.
This certification is the pinnacle of all IT certifications and is similar to passing the Bar Exam for lawyers.

I became a CCIE on January 11, 2001. It took me 5 years of studying and real world experience to achieve this certification. There are only 2 testing labs for CCIE's in North America. I went to the lab 3 times before I passed. I have to take a written exam every 2 years to keep my CCIE.
Becoming a CCIE was the toughest thing I have ever done in my life and is truly a life changing event. I do not plan on doing anything that hard for the rest of my life.

I passed them when there about 12 exams (in the 90's). They keep changing the syllabus over the years. It is a fun job when you have liabilities to invest against (immunize) as opposed to pure investing!

Mike - do you own the building? I was just talking to my son about how I would've liked having a store but even if I found a good location, I don't have the energy anymore to start another business - but ya never know?

    If you've made it to 22 yrs - you're a survivor! Congratulations.

My buddy's had his store for nearly 30 years and is still at the location that he opened in 1993 when he left his old digs. You can check out his location at Sportminded Unlimited. Sadly, the store has gone from primarily a card shop to a store that is more clothing and memorabilia athough he features several signing guests each year.

Very nice shop Scott. He's got quite an inventory - I don't think there's anything like that in San Antonio? Tho I don't go looking either. I think it's time for me to get off my lazy ass and check out what's around.

Well, the pharma industry is a pretty expansive field, and with all the parts of a pharma industry, there are jobs available for multiple fields. If you're a medical doctor or background, you can get a job as a clinician. If you have a background in statistics, you can get a job as a statistician. If you have a legal background you can work in the legal part of it. Chemistry background can get you a job in the research sector. Biology background can get you into the research sector as well. There are so many different positions in the pharmaceutical industry that if you basically have a college degree, you can find a job there.

For me, I got into it because upon graduating college with a degree in forensic chemistry, I found that there were absolutely no jobs available to me. A friend of the family worked at Functional Service Provider (FSP, which is basically a company contracted out to do work for the pharma company), and I was in need of a job so she got me an entry level position. I eventually worked my way up the line until a job was offered to me by one of the major (and now the biggest in the world) pharmaceutical companies.
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.

No, I rent. I used to have a different location where I also rented, but the other end of the strip mall had a fire, and the landlord didn't want to bring the entire building up to fire code, so he decided to kick us out and knock it down.

    Retired from the Federal Government.

Ten years in the Army including a tour in Germany, Korea and with the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam. Seven years as an Air Traffic Controller, till I thought I was smarter than President Reagan. The remainder in the IRS, which almost took my happy face, but I managed to escape the force field and now collect a nice check. Somehow managed to get an MBA along the way which opened a couple of doors. Also picked up a commercial pilot's license and immensely enjoyed flying all over Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts...the Fall colors at 1,000' (or less) image are breath taking.

Every day is like Saturday. I am beyond blessed to have a great life, with a super lady who flies for Delta. We travel here and there, but not as often as you might think for those having free flight privileges. We enjoy our home and puttering in the yard. We have New Zealand on our to do list, hopefully next year or two.

Hang in there, retirement is a wonderful thing.
