I know it's a little early to be posting for this Saturday's edition, but I'm going to be leaving later today for a few days of R&R, and I wanted to add the cards that I picked up last weekend.

Since Brett just started his 57 set (and Doug displayed some of his nice 57's too), I'll keep the theme going with these...

Very nice Tom, great looking cards especially the '57s with those clean white borders. Some of mine look good but the borders are a little dirty looking. The 63's and 64's are awesome too. Have a relaxing time by the way.

Those cards look great. I'm not familiar with Nestle issues. How were those sold? In certain products, via certificate, etc.?

They were sold in sheet form. Some made it out the back door and were cut down into sets.

PSA has recently started to grade them again. With the 'Hand cut' designation.

Nice cards everyone, alot of variety today. Brett, I'm going to take a stab at the two week long mystery theme of the '73 and '74 cards you posted. I actually pulled all of them and frankly nothing real obvious stood out,(unless I can't see it). But, the one thing mentioned on many of the players cards were that the lead the minor leagues in a hitting or pitching category during a year playing in the minors. I may be way off on this one. Meanwhile here's some cards from my '58 set. Have a good weekend everyone.

I need 7 more cards to complete my set. They are all commons ranging from #265-352. I had all of them, but they were not at all in good condition so I sold them recently. Once I get 'em all I'll start upgrading the more poorly centered cards. Although I prefer raw cards, I have about 50 PSA graded ones that I will not crack out. Doing so would devalue them too much. I may be a raw-card lover, but I'm not a stupid one!

Wow, it seems like you came a long way pretty fast. Wise choice on keeping the cards in their graded holders. 50's cards are too valuable to take a chance on cracking. What set do you plan on doing next?

My head is still spinning from all the money I've shelled out (and debt incurred) from my 1957 journey! I'm also working on a 2nd '57 set that I'll sell in due time to recoup some of the money I've spent. I bought several large groups and many individual cards, making 2 nice sets a very real possibility.

Although it will be quite a while before I tackle another, I'm leaning toward 1961 Topps baseball. I've grown very fond of the design and got inspiration from another card buddy who sent me a handful of ex-mt/nm '61 commons. That undertaking is most definitely in the distant future.

61 is a nice set. The high numbers are a challenge, there a couple nice rookies that won't break the bank (Williams and Marachal) and there are a few Mantle cards, which always appeals to me. It was one of my favorites to collect the stars from. I really like the Maris, Mantle and Koufax cards.

I wish you well recouping the money for your next endeavor.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but there is something about the 57 Campanella
that just makes that card jump out and put all the other 57's to shame.............
Awesome set.

Please scan more of your 71's, I can never get enough of those.

It will be awhile before I consider building a '57 set. I'm just about finished with my NM+ '76 set now. This was another set I didn't think much of until I started seeing scans of the cards. Just down to needing three cards now and then will go back and upgrade some later. Here's some cards from the first 100:

After I get the '76 set out of the way I can focus on this monster. I'll be happy if I can finish this in EX/MT+ condition and then maybe slowly upgrade until I get bored with it. I will probably purchase the key cards graded in PSA 7 and have already picked a few of those up.

Your '76's AND '71's look sensational. A little birdie tells me that you've recently added a nice '76 Ruth ATG #345 to your set. (You beat me to the punch on that one.)

The most fun I've had in upgrading a set was getting my '71 in NM or better. It's big, challenging, and very satisfying when complete. Best of luck with yours.

Guilty as charged on the Ruth. I've been looking for one for awhile then stumbled across that card yesterday. I also picked up a raw one yesterday. It's well centered and if the corners are sharp, the graded one might be available. In any case, I'll have an extra if you are interested.

I'm looking forward to the challenge of the '71s. So hard to find centered and with decent corners.
