I caught a guy at my local WalMart 'feeling' his way through the jumbo packs they had. I politely excused myself and picked up all the packs he wasn't feeling up and told him "I'll take my chances" and headed to the checkout line.image

As an aside, my Heritage case is 40 miles away at the UPS distribution center, and I won't get it until Monday! ARRRRGH! I even called and asked if I could interrupt the shipment and pick it up tomorrow. "We're sorry, but that location isn't open on Saturdays..."

I stand corrected on the comment about good pulls from blaster boxes:

    Box 1

    1 chrome
    1 refractor
    3 high #'3
    1 FB-B Richardson
    1 News FB-Kennedy-just a filler card imo

    Box 2

    4 high #'s
    3 NAP-C Quentin, C Lee
    1 TN-#9-Friend/Halladay

And that's all folks. Saving Box #3 for my midnight snack.

They went all out with the Walmart and Target exclusives, the "T" and "W".........I think Topps should really consider the superstar reprint subset

No, they fondle them, you molest them and I guess can tell by the thickness of the card. I'm guessing. You can buy a "gaurenteed hot pock" or something like that on ebay for 5-6 bucks. Several guys sell 'em. I notice packs are pack in a similiar fashion, but don't know about location.

Ya but if you do the math, it seems the blasters are better on the high numbers. Three blasters equal a box and if you averge 3 per blaster that would be 9 total. I got 3 in one and 4 in another. I'll break my 3rd later on. I did pull a jersey card in an earlier box this week. If you ended up with 10 highs from 3 blasters, I would say that is a little better, by one or two pulls. Got 1 chrome and 1 fract outta one box and none outta the second. I think that equals a box right there, right?

1 blaster so far. 2 SPs, some inserts, 1 chrome, 1 Refractor and 1 Pedroia GU. Not a bad deal. Just can't seem to find much as yet.

Sounds right to me. I opened 1 Hobby box and got 8SPs. So if you're getting an average of around 3.5 over a few blasters, that's an SP or 2 more than a Hobby box. I hope I get that kind of average on Monday, I might put this set to bed earlier and much cheaper than last year! Then again, it almost makes me want to buy more blasters when WalMart gets them... image

I picked up 2 Hobby Boxs Today the first Box I open NO Relic or Auto in the box!!
I'm disappointed myself at least with this box. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Yes. Send the UPC code (cut out from the box) and wrappers if you still have them to Topps with a letter explaining the problem. I did this last year and they sent me a GU Heritage.

OK just a quick review on retail from what I have seen.

Target got in one 24 count retail box. The confusion here is that these did not have the "do not sell unopened" writing on the box meaning that it looked
like it should be sold as an unopened box...except that the UPC doesn't ring up any price. Once you open the box the packs ring up at 2.99. Yesterday, from
what I can tell, Target got in a second shipment of 4 blasters each. If you see some new stuff on the shelves including a fresh box of 08 Chrome baseball
or Racing then your target has already gotten the shipment in...the good thing is that if they were bought reloads are on the way!

So far walmarts have gotten in anywhere from 15-20 packs of jumbos...these are loose packs that hang on hooks...they ARE SEARCHABLE so be careful. remember
that the autographs in this product CAN"T be searched only the GU and possibly chromes, so I wouldn't worry too much the irony here is that there are no cards
in the base GU set that would sell for more than your 5 dollar investment, so you can let the pack thieves have their card!

At this point I have not see walmart blasters. You should start seeing target blasters already!

I will also mention that topps.com has retail 24 count boxes for 69.99...not sure if shipping is free but that is another option!

    To trade, I have the following SPs: 434, 443, 452, 457, lots of commons and inserts...chrome: 42 Rios, 70 Reyes...refractors: 20 Wright, 37 F*kudome, 28 Sheets, 35 Hamels, 70 Reyes...black refractors: 17 Fowler (will trade this black for chromes).

    Thanks for looking for me!

That completes all the scans. Case results below:

    Teixeira/Mantle Dual Relic 28/60
    Dick Gray Red Ink 20/60
    Nelson Chittum Blue Ink
    Randy Johnson Black Refractor 20/60
    11 Refractors
50 Chrome (Berkman only dupe, 54 unique and Penny dupe after adding in 6 from retail packs)
    T&N 2 and 10 away from 2 sets of T&N
NAP 8 and 12 shy of 1 set (21 NAPs total, counting retail, so plenty for trade)
NFB 7 shy of 1 set, 3 and 7 shy of 2 sets, and 3, 5, 7 shy of 3 sets (only one I have more than 3 of is NFB 9, I have 5, 1 of which was from retail)
    2 BBFB 1 and 5 shy of 3 sets (2 1s and 1 5 shy after I got a 5 in retail)
    Missing 5 SPs (430, 455, 464, 484, 493), retail was all dupes or triplicates
All buybacks were Orioles, with 1 duplicate (Hal Brown)
    12 box panels
9 GUs (3 bats, 6 Jerseys) +1 dupe Carl Crawford Jersey from Retail
No super SPs noticed so far, but haven't finished sorting yet.

Friend is hopefully snagging one of the two retail boxes at the Target 40 miles from here, hoping that's all I will need to get the Mayos finished. My Target sucks mightily, unless I was wanting a ton of 08 Hi-Num blasters still (at least 7 left). The one 20 mins away is where I found the 14 packs I got, I didn't feel like driving over there again today.

OK call me a newbie on the Heritage wagon, but tell me what is the difference on some of the chrome cards that are numbered
out of /560 vs out of /1960 ?

I guess refractor? but it doesn't have the tone I thought a refractor is supposed to have. I am not into this modern stuff.........

So I am convinced that the other error is card #102 Adrian Gonzlez....

I check on ebay to see if one has popped up. I see this from a seller who scans one card when advertising the commons from his set.....
    image

I thought that doesn't look like my #105 Brad Penny and sure enough it doesn't as all mine have Mr. Penny with the Dodgers. Now my question is, this card has sort of a manufactured appeal to it....Was this one photoshopped???

Link to his Adrian Gonzalez for sale...

And of course he doesn't have a Penny for sale....

Is the blank card a place holder for an insert, where the process got messed up, it sounds like it's more common this year.

Well, I'm finished opening and sorting my case, and I'm pretty sure it was a stinker. No Super SPs, no dual relics, etc. - two autographs (the immortal Carl Mathias blue, and Fausto Carmona red). More than that though was the collation - just awful. I'm left with a huge number of needs and extras for both the chrome set, and for SPs. Blah. Here's my first trade list of the season:

If you go by book value chromes usually book 4-6.00 bucks a piece. SP commons are usually 5 a piece. I do not patrol ebay, but I have been told
that SP's have a higher value retention than do chromes.

I guess it depends on the reloads and if they will get them in. So far just one 24 count box at each target that I have been to and then 15-20 jumbo
packs at each walmarts. I have not see walmart blasters yet.

I have a found Target in my area to have some boxes. I hit 5 targets and 3 Wall Marts and ended up with 7 Blasters from 3 of the stores in total.

Still opening, but no great pulls. I did find an error, but I doubt they will correct it. The comic on the back of Matt Tuiasosopo's card states that "Matt's father and brother Marquez were NFL Quarterbacks." Dad, Manu, was a defensive lineman.
