not sure why you'd be mad. Heritage is a product to get mad over (unless you're talking about the crappy autos they keep coming out with).

umm...its that hard. How many hobby boxes have been cracked on this board, over 150 is that conservative? 200 maybe? And there have been what 3 pulls? I've seen 3 Glavines, 3 or 4 Smoltzs, 3 Ramirezs, and 1 Lewis - Winn pictured on Ebay. And some of the Ebay ones are the pulls from here.
Plus the corrected Smoltz and Ramirez are SPs in their own right. Its not that big of a deal your box was missing 2 base cards. Thats pretty normal. I purchased 5 hobby boxes, 4 hobby packs, and 15 rack packs and have yet to see an Ian Kinsler #34.
wow, just makes me love the thrill of the error card even more...

Clay is "out of the office" but tomorrow I should find out from him why some of the bigger names were taken off the original autograph list. Does someone with 30 minutes of free time want to post the batting averages and ERA averages of all the players on the list? Might be fun
What a joke that they are distinguishing $50 or $60 between any of THOSE CRAPPY NAMES. If Ron Samford is considered an unlisted star or semistar ($60) then Gil McDougald should be $100
Jim Proctor played in a total of 2 major league games. He pitched a total of 2.2 innings giving up 8 hits and 5 runs making his lifetime ERA 16.25
Buddy Gilbert didn't even play in 1960, he had retired on September 27th 1959, after playing 7 games with the Reds which included 20 at bats...3 hits, 2 of them were home runs....on pace to break Aaron's record...I wonder what happened to such talent?
Ben Johnson pitched a massive 46 innings going 2-1 with an era of .391
Bob Rush lifetime 127-152
Art Schult had a total of 430 at bats in a 7 year career, but was most known for brushing up against Mickey Mantle getting out of the batting cage in 1953 where he was a pinch runner scoring 3 runs with no at bats!
Carl Mathias started 3 games, going 0-2 pitching 29 innings and giving up only 23 earned runs including 5 homers and 12 walks...control baby!
Cal Neeman..lifetime .224 hitter
Curt Raydon.....didn't play in 1960 OR 1959...retire in 1958.....8-4 with the Pirates in 1958....nice topps!
Dick Gray lifetime .239 commited 15 errors in 58 for the Dodgers
Don Williams lifetime era was 7.20 he pitched 20 innings giving up 29 hits and 16 earned runs.
Irv Noren looks like Willie Mays next to some of these guys..played with Yankees through out the 50's hitting .319 in 54.
John Groth played forever and for like 20 teams..lifetime .279..why isn't this auto worth like 100 bucks?
Jack Harshman is just as good as Whitey Ford right? 69-65 lifetime!
John Romonosky pitched in 9 games scattering 97 hits in 101 innings pitched....nice
Joe Shipley's rookie year stats: 1.1 innings pitched 3 hits 5 ERA 3 walks..that is a 33.75 ERA for those of you scoring at home
Jake Striker was of course a pitcher with a grand total of 10 innings pitched in the majors. He is a Libra
Nelson Chittum was featured with Justin Masterson on a dual autograph card....grand totals...68 innings pitched with 68 hits given up. Lets hope Justin has a little more left in the tank!
Red Wilson played 9 years average was .258 and hit a whopping 24 homer runs.
Ron Samford, whose 1959 card I pulled today out of a box of heritage update, batted a massive .219. He retired before the 60 season
Was 77 at bats enough to tell how great Ray Webster and his .195 batting average was? Probably not.
Steve Korcheck might be the worst player EVER featured on a topps heritage autograph card..... .159 batting average lifetime and never hit one out of the park..NICE
Stan Lopata was a mainstay on the Phillies in the 50's...and perhaps whey they sucked....254 average with 1 grand slam
Taylor Phillips was the new replacment for Sparky Anderson pairing up a "vet" with Ryan Howard..who else better to pair up with Howard than a pitcher who went 16-22 lifetime! We didn't need Sparky anyways!
Will people get Ted Wieand mixed up with Ted Williams? They both played for teams with the word "Red" in them...6 innings pitched 7 earned runs given up...guess not
Whitey Lockman best know for being a manager...I guess....impressive .279 lifetime batting average..NOT
and last but certainly not least, Wayne Terwilliger played for 5 different teams in 10 years, batting a huge .240

4 super centers, 1 WalMart neighborhood market, and 2 Targets later I managed to find 14 retail packs at one Target and 10 Jumbos at one Walmart (with a couple nasty surprises: 2 David Wright Topps Head of the Class cards with the annoying anti-theft tags stickered onto them. Nothing like being accused of stealing after you paid $4.98/pack!). In addition, the same Target had 2 jumbos from the 08 Hi-nums still, and 16 retail packs. The first target actually had A&G blasters from last year, so i picked one up since I never had a chance to buy some of that set. I also got 2 of these weird 55 card boxes of 2009 topps series 1 with a guaranteeed Legends Chrome Refractor in them, because I was bored. And a couple 08 hi-num blasters, since i had bought no retail of that either. I've opened the jumbos, got 3 of the WME Mayos (Ortiz, Ramirez, and Dice K). More in a few, hopefully with scans, since I picked up a replacement USB cable while I was out.

I would say the weak auto checklist is one of the reasons we have at least 4 super short prints this year. I'm sure it is much cheaper for Topps to produce said ssp's than it is for them to have hofer's sign cards, plus they figure collectors chasing the ssp's will still buy product like always.
Wayne Terwilliger is still in baseball at age 83. He is currently the first base coach for the Fort Worth Cats, having managed them from 2003-05. In 2005 he joined Connie Mack as the only two 80-year-old managers in baseball history; that same year, he led the Cats to the Central League title, the first of three straight championships for FW.
The Cats have quite a history for anyone interested: FW Cats
So let's talk SSPs. What are you guys thinking the real number of each is? There are 220 cards per sheet, right? So do they put out 55 of each, maybe a whole sheet of each? With the bad auto checklist, how much of this stuff has been sold/ripped? Retail cases are slowly heading out, so we'd have to think there are plenty more just waiting to appear.
well, if anyone has any variations and wants to work something out please email me

I guess we can only compare these to last years variations...at this time there were plenty of Santana and a good amount of Smoltz out there. This year there is almost nothing. I think also of people will miss these and might have them but not know it. That Fred Lewis might be the hardest of all. I'm guessing 25-35 each tops.
Anyone have any tricks to getting scans to conform to size? I got the scanner working, but my jpgs are too big.
For now, from 10 Walmart Jumbos:
2 Topps of the Class David Wrights with antitheft stickers (still active as I left, yay!) 4 chromes (Aramis Ramirez, Penny, McCann, Salome) 3 Mayos (Ortiz, Dice K, Manny) 5 SPs 2 T&Ns 2 NAPs 1 BBFB 1 NFB
K I'll try that later tonight when I get back home. Results from 14 retail packs from Target (interestingly, they have odds for their inserts, Walmart Jumbos did not, 1:4 for Target Continuity Card supposedly):
2 Chrome (Kershaw, IRod) 2 Mayo TMEs (Braun, Soriano) Ernie Banks BBFB Evan Longoria NAP 7 SPs (so odds appear to be 1:2 in retail so far) Carl Crawford GU uni FIVE annoying Topps of the Class David Wrights, with anti theft stickers covering the entire message. Stay in school kids, you can't read anyways, so we're not gonna pretend to let you!)
edit: forgot to mention the retail box mentions the exclusive 10 card set of 1894 mayos only at Target, so unless someone were to swap the packs on you with non Target retail, you can tell what you are getting from the box.
Rather than sifting through all 74 pages of this thread, could someone point me in the right direction to a list of SPs and variations? Just picked up a 24-pack blaster from Target. Thanks!
I just finished opening 2 24 pack boxes from Target. The collation was very good. I ended with around 35 doubles. Here are the highlights (nothing great except for 1 black chrome):

Buddy Gilbert didn't even play in 1960, he had retired on September 27th 1959, after playing 7 games with the Reds which included 20 at bats...3 hits, 2
of them were home runs....on pace to break Aaron's record...I wonder what happened to such talent?
Ben Johnson pitched a massive 46 innings going 2-1 with an era of .391
Bob Rush lifetime 127-152
Art Schult had a total of 430 at bats in a 7 year career, but was most known for brushing up against Mickey Mantle getting out of the batting cage in 1953 where
he was a pinch runner scoring 3 runs with no at bats!
Lets hope Justin has a little more
left in the tank!
Taylor Phillips was the new replacment for Sparky Anderson pairing up a "vet" with Ryan Howard..who else better to pair up with Howard than a pitcher who went 16-22
lifetime!
