I looked this over and thought it was worth posting here. I only scored 8/15 - I can not claim to have upheld the honor of this place. Can you do better?

Multiple choice question/answer type tests do not necessarily translate to a person being smart because of higher scores. Some are lucky guesses and you just didn't have as much luck as me

I thought that was poorly worded. I got it right only because I focused on "study" rather than "collect," plus keeping in mind that the generic word "currency" doesn't only refer to paper money even though that's how many people commonly see it (i.e. "coins and currency").

I missed this one as well. To me numismatics is about the study of coins and medals, not currency.

Not thinking 'color', just the fact that these bills were only tranferred within the federal reserve system, so there was never any private ownership.
Being Canadian, a few of the questions was not common US numismatic knowledge to me.
I did still however score 11 out of 15.
Not to be cruel, but I think if anyone scores below 11, maybe perhaps a refresher course in numismatics is required!!

Yes, I got that wrong too.

I guessed correctly (and luckily) on the 70-2/69-d more valuable penny question.

"Numismatics is the study of currency - it's history, forms and use as payment to resolve debts. While some numismatics [sic] also collect coins, they are not part of the scientific study".
Do tell. I trust that many here would take exception to that statement. Obviously, this test was written by some junior staffer with no numismatic experience.
I must also question another of the dubious questions:
"If you have a "mint" coin, what is its rating?
... and the only 'correct' answer is 70.
So take heart, all of you who could not answer all 15 questions correctly. You may not be as wrong as you think.

You are correct and the test is wrong. Also, the nickel is not made of nickel. It's made of copper (75%) with some nickel alloy (25%). This test leaves a lot to be desired.

got the nickel composition one wrong, not because I didn't know it, but because it was more or less a disagreement in semantics.

The people who wrote the quiz are not numismatic people. Some of their terms are wrong, and some of the answers are not clear.
Like others I missed the numismatic question. I am not sure their definition is correct, or at least absolute.
