Let's post some Classic Commemoratives this weekend.

SkyManSkyMan Posts: 9,605 ✭✭✭✭✭
I just don't understand why this series hasn't just fallen out of bed, but seems to have fallen through the floor too. IMO it has some of the prettiest designs ever created by the US, and if you are just collecting a typeset there are only 50 coins to collect, which is highly reasonable given the number of coins in some other series. I'll grant you there are some definite clunkers, but there are also some really attractive designs, with a nice selection of coins that are either white with killer luster or are beautifully toned.

So, please post a Classic Commemorative, and I'd also be intrigued in your thoughts as to why the Classic Commemorative market has gone so far south.

Here's a CA. to start us off.

Currently Raw and Stack's had it graded MS64.

Not sure why these haven't rebounded yet. I'll continue to buy in today's market because I do expect them to rebound.

Sky, it appears that the market is soft, and it is (I suppose) for non-original, non-top-flight coins. It has been that way, as far as I can tell, for a long time.

But the monsters still bring the money (speaking of which ... is monsterman still around on this board ... haven't seen him here in a while) .

Not sure why the market is (or seems) soft for the second-flight and below. image

Here's a Bay Bridge that's still in an old fatty that's been hanging around my collection for over a decade ... image

I heard previously that the series has not moved because of a glut of over graded coins ??

skyman... love that CA! I need to upgrade mine eventually with some color....

My favorite coins to collect as a set... I say set because to me that is how they showcase the best for me.

I am currently working on a Dansco set of Circs which is insanely hard!

    >>>Gregg is alive and well. >>>aye im alive.....just been busy with a shooting war here in houston thanks to katrina 3 years ago and our dumb a$$ mayor ( bill white ) who invited them all to town but forgot we would need about 3,000 more police ...you remember all those people in the suprer dome who were raping and killing in the dome as seen on cnn after the huricane.... well 100,00 of them are here now while the media doesnt mention it ..the police chief let all the crims out of jail and most are here now....gun battles every where here and several hundred houstonians are now dead and the number increases daily...why the other day they shot a 2 year old in the face with a shot gun.....so as you can imagine i have been busy

economically houston is doing great....so we can afford the bullets ;-)

    1) 130 barrel oil
    2) largest seaport in the country
    3) largest medical complex in the world

The monster market is as strong as ever, I can assure you.>>>they become harder to find every month.....if they show up they are gone in a heart beat

    monsterman

Do your best to avoid circular arguments, as it will help you reason better, because better reasoning is often a result of avoiding circular arguments.

I love these coins -- with raw gems readily available, I am slowly accumulating a "mini-hoard" of these. These are certainly ripe for a big promotion. image
