    Now for the cardboard...

A couple 1955 Topps All-Americans for my mid-grade set. The Baugh is pretty faded and I wonder if that was before or after it was slabbed. I would not mind it too much for a single, but for my set I will have to upgrade to something more vibrant for consistency.

    image

A bunch of 1950 Bowman arrivals, with Otto Graham's rookie being the highlight, put me well over the 33% mark for this mid-grade set. Not too bad given I started this around 6 months ago or so along my 1948 Leaf set that is just over 33%.

    image
    image
    image

Lastly, a few rarer finds on a couple of the rookies I collect. Thomas Jones 2000 Upper Deck Exclusives Gold x/25, 2000 Upper Deck Black Diamond Gold x/100, and 2000 Upper Deck Ionix Authentic Gold autograph x/100. The Sage Rosenfels is a 2001 Playoff Honors Hidden Gems autograph x/50. Had to represent for the modern peeps, yo'.

Have a great Super Bowl Sunday all!

Got a question about this one that arrived today from 4SC. Usually there's a card number in the top right, but this one doesn't. Will PSA replace the label? Love the card - seems like Fleer 10s are hard to come by.

    Nice cards everyone.

Love the Lavelli, the 88' Score, the Sandy Alomar Jr (who played here in Wichita during my youth).

That is one ugly Brett Butler card though, not referring to the grade. image

I've been tryin to go thru all the great stuff you guys have picked up since I went on vacation - Wow!

It'll take me a bit of time - but thanx for sharing!

I've added a few to my 63F BB set - I'm now at 67% after 4 yrs!!!! That's what ya call slo mo - but I've been tryin to get the best for my money and try to keep the set under SMR.

    image

The Yaz was tough - I wanted one pretty nicely centered that I could keep to a good price.

    image

    And this one was part of a trade - I lost a PSA 6 Doyle - and got a PSA 5 Doyle and a PSA 4 Rhoades - the Rhoades is one of the toughest cards to find in any grade - so I was very happy with the trade which was facilitated by a good board member, friend and card dealer;
    Quality cards.

    image

Thanx again for sharing your passion - some of the stuff is just too nice for words!

A couple of nice arrivals for me this week.

First up a few well centered 1948 Leafs, including a HOFer and a short printed high number, for my set:

    image

Next a pair of very low grade 1950 Bowmans I bought as a lot. I was after the Tittle rookie to display with my autographed 8x10 and mini-helmet. I still need one in at least PSA 5 for my 1950 Bowman set. For a PSA 1, I think this one displays pretty nice... especially for my purposes. Also a well centered 1955 TAA for my set and, lastly, a nice multi-colored Sage Rosenfels SP Authentic rookie:

    image

Nothing too exciting, but I had to give this thread some love. Have a great weekend everyone!

Just picked up another decanter - Jim Bean 1973 - commemorating a Chicago team from the fledgling WFL.

The World FB League only lasted 2 yrs - '74 to '75.

Gary Davidson was the driving force - he also was involved with the ABA and the WHA.

This decanter commemorated "The Chicago Fire" - hot!

The Fire only lasted one year and their most notable acquisition was QB Virgil Carter.

    image

They played at Soldier Field in 1974 and went 7-13 - wow!

    image

    And the decanter....

    image

I wish the label was in better shape - I'll probably just clean it off.

Tho not sports - it is a card - Lobby Cards

Not used anymore - they used to be distributed to movie theaters to put behind their glass displays or in the lobby for the purpose of getting viewers excited about the movie.

They come in a series of 8 - the first being the most valuable since it's the TITLE card and is graphically the most attractive.

    They are typically 11X14"

My focus? I'm collecting horror, Sci-Fi, thriller movies of the 50s.

These are the ones that scared the crap outa me when I was a kid!

I started this while gone - perhaps the trip to Venus did it? I now have 6 of them - tho 1 is under review with a dealer for authenticity.

The first here is I MARRIED A MONSTER FROM OUTER SPACE - 1958, starring Tom Tryon and Gloria Talbott.

    image

I think this would be a good project for anyone who really liked these kinds of flicks as a kid - of course for the younger crowd - the movies they choose may not have LCs.

Just got this 1972 Caqrlton High Number in the Mail Today. Not the greatest shape, but it does finish off my run of Carlton basic Topps.

    image

Also got this Sherm Lollar, for my new 1960 Topps AS project. These have always been one of my favorite card designs so I am now attempting to finish off the run in PSA 6 condition.

Great to see you back Stone... now we can finally have a complete discussion about 707. Levi... what's his name again?

    image

Good to see someone getting on the World Football Love train too... w00t!

Say what you will about Davidson's World Football League, it lasted (almost) a year longer than McMahon's XFL.

This arrival today was a very sweet BIN find on eBay. While the header card is offcenter and shows some staining from moisture in the lucite case, the autographed card looks very nice. I got a great deal on it and was going to flip it... but now I am thinking it would look great in my Sweetness collection with a new header card put in there.

    image

A couple other bargains of rookies I collect that arrived today. The Lewis and Dayne rookie inserts are numbered to just 225 autographed copies.

    image

Hope everyone is having a great weekend... Pro Bowl tomorrow before the looooong offseason.
