Do you have coin collecting friends that you actually hang out with?

Or are your collecting efforts a solitary pursuit?

Yes. Luckily. Best friends for 24 yrs. Just bought a couple days ago together an old time collection of about 100-150 lbs of coins/currency. It includes perhaps 1300-1400 oz of silver. We'll be visiting at each other's house over then next who knows how long until we get it split up between us. A ton of coins to search. Hopefully we'll make a little bit of money off it, besides having a ball splitting it.
We didn't meet as coin nerds. We were both collectors in youth, met thru other interests as adults. The collector side in each of us got us both back into the spirit over the years. It's not a full time thing for us, strictely a hobby.

HAHA!!!...Had a mouthful of coffee when I read that....now I have a handful of paper towels.
if i had a best friend who collected, I would probably retire and open a coin shop.

I tried joining a local coin club. I attended one meeting and all they did was argue and talk forever about non-issues. I never went back.
I guess this is my virtual coin club.

If my friends do collect coins, then I have no idea. I don't mention it and either do they. I don't know why but it sounds weird...lol

YES
Hoard the keys.
About the closest I come is with a playwright who is involved in an annual stagewriting workshop that I bring students to. He is a pretty avid collector, both US and world, and we somehow got going on the topic the first year we worked together. I don't even remember how, as I stay pretty quiet about collecting, and so does he. In any case, each year since we've each brought something interesting for the other as a trade. It's been fun.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.
Forgot to mention my wife. Although she isnt a collector she is very supportive of whatever I buy and likes looking at the "pretty things that make me happy" lol
