If you notice that the page hasn't turned yet, try this...

Up in the URL area of your browser you'll probably see an address like this...
    http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=11&threadid=414190&STARTPAGE=166

Up where it says "STARTPAGE=166", if you change that "166" to "167", you'll see the next page.

That's a great Butler card, the one on the left I mean, not the right. image

A few new additions to my MVP and CYA rookie collections...

    A very nice high-end PSA 8. I love it when the 8s look like low-end 9s. image

I'm starting to hate scanning chrome cards, they look soooo ugly!

I received this in the mail from Bishop - it was a pleasant surprise.

I didn't know that Pacific made a set like this?

    << <i>I didn't know that Pacific made a set like this? >>

Late 80's, around the same time as the Swell sets. Each seem popular for autographs, and they both feature some nice contemporary color photographs (just off the top of my head, I can remember the Pacific cards for Jackie Robinson, DiMaggio, Clemente, Mays and Hank Aaron being really cool.)

Nice Matty! Though whats up with his eyes, looks like he oculd play a rol ein "sin city" spooky!
  • Options
Ha ha....yeah I don't know whats up with Matty's eyes...at first I thought someone punches holes through the eyes..but it doesnt appear that way on the back...will have to wait til it gets here to find out....sometimes these cards can be deals in GAI holders...a PSA 1 went last week for $1200....this one was $257

While I'm sure GAI slabs can be a bargain, there are often huge differences in PSA 1 quality cards. Your "eyes gouged out" example might be considered a low end 1, as opposed to a card with more significant creasing, but free of intentional defacing.

As long as the Matty gets in either a PSA or SGC holder...I'm fine with that...it had to be a low end example for me to afford it! image

Just got this back from PSA - as low of a grade as possible, but presents well with a few minor surface creases. The MK is a pencil mark on the back.

Totally agree - great eye appeal!

I don't have a Young but will eventually.

Hey that Young doesn't look bad at all from the front...unless scans are just hiding some creases?

It looks like a 5 compared to my E97 posted right above it image

Nope, no hidden creases, just a few minor ones (on the right at ear level, on the left at mouth level, another minor one on the right at shoulder level), but a nice 1 at least.

And funny how it gets the same grade as the E97, although those are some damn rare cards! I don't own any of 'em at all, so nice card to have! A bit of trivia on Steinfeldt - he was the 3rd baseman on the Tinker-Evers-Chance Cubs combo!

Got some goodies over the last few days. Compared to everyone else on here I am the official cheapskate of ebay but oh well, I get the cards I want for verrrry low prices. It's what makes being on ebay at 2 in the morning a very good thing.

One of my biggest steals. I bid on it thinking it was a gu jersey with a piece of orange patch. It came today and it is a true patch. The white is a piece of number. The seller just labeled it as 2 color jersey card. It's numbered out of 50 and I am very excited about it. The scratches are on the magnetic case that came with it. Total cost delivered..... $3.99

Nice pickups, Goot. Guess I need to start staying up later. image It's hard to beat a two autograph card for $4 delivered no matter who signs it, let alone players from someone's favorite team. Nice.

Thanks for the compliments on the Cobb guys. Definately a thrill to own it....I don't have unlimited funds in cards...but I'll try to hang unto it as long as i can keep a bit of money free for other purchases...Cobb and Christy Mathewson though are definately the two names I enjoy the most as far as cards

Bure was a very solid player....really enjoyed to watch him play.

I have an autographed 8 x 10 of Pavel & his brother Valeri both in Panther's uniforms if you are interested. Sweet picture with both of them holding their hockey sticks on the ice.
