I dont know about last year, but this years extended minis are a different photo of the player.

Hello All, I am new to Allen Ginter this year, I got a bit of a late start. I could use a little help finishing my Base set. I have Mini's and base cards to trade.

Does anyone have the black bordered mini of card 318 (Jonny Gomes) WITH a number? Beckett lists it, but I haven't seen it.

I cant believe that no one wants to take me up on my offer of 2 to 1 (and 6+ to 1 if you need regualr minis) to pull the cards that I need from their unfinished mini A&G back sets? Well the offer still stands, and here is my very short list again:

I just bought a case from a member here. I plan to open all the boxes so I will have a card or 2 to trade. I'll post results when I get them.

Think I've got the black no numbers figured out. No black card is numbered and unnumbered, for example Jeter will always be #150 and there are no unnumbered black Jeters. Conversely all Hunter Pence black cards have no number and there are no numbered ones. By my count there are 151 no number black cards, which is an odd number so I am guessing that there are actually 150 different no number blacks - do not have all cards in hand to verify whether they are numbered or not and you would be amazed how many cards I've gotten (none from anybody here) that I was told were no number that were numbered when I got them. By my count there are 50 base SP's and they all are no number blacks. No idea how the other 100 or 101 no numbers were chosen. If anyone has a black card of a player that is numbered and unnumbered, I would like to know about it. Went out of town for a few days which gave me a few days, while making up excuses not to go to the beach, to search for A&G's which I found none the couple times I was able to sneak off, watch some college football (App State for #5, sure looked better than #9 VA Tech), try to figure out how many A&G there are (maybe another time) and the story of black no numbers. Anyway, if anyone has some black no numbers they want to rid themselves of, let me know.

My updated list, thanks to all who have helped out. I only need one more base card and the flags. I Still have plenty of blacks and reg mini's and A&G mini's to trade with for the flags I need.

Base sets with SPs and the 30 Dick Perez cards are selling between $45 and $65 from what I've seen. Flag sets at $100+ and Emperor sets at $25 to $35. I don't know if a complete A&G, regular, or black border mini set has sold.

$45 to $65 for a base set WITH SPs?! Man, prices have dropped then. A regular set with SPs and Dick Perez was $100 a month ago.

Also, must be a lot of card sellers / traders in my town... the Walgreens and Meijer stores are out of 4x7 bubble mailers.

I tried one hobby box and did not get anything notable to earn my money back. I just do not have any luck with modern......or vintage for that matter. The autographed cards from this set do look beautiful though...

I came out ahead with last year's set, even though I got started late. Pulled a couple printing plates, a couple bazookas, and multiple no numbers.

This year, I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind in terms of pulls/cash value. But I'll have the set done in 8 months less time, hehe.

A&G is definitely a set-builder's set. Oh, sure, some people get lucky with the big pulls like Bruce Lee relics and Chen Ming Wang autos, but most boxes yield $6 relics, a couple flags, and an emperor or two. If you don't get a big pull, you gotta love the look of A&G to feel like you got your money's worth. Good thing I adore the look of it.

I've come to learn that today's modern pulls are best found in $80-$120 "packs" of Topps Triple Threads and Upper Deck Sweet Spot (Classic). Too bad I can't afford to buy too much of that stuff... and I wouldn't get much satisfaction anyway, unless I pulled a Nolan Ryan or something.

I know this is going to sound insane... but I wish Topps would produce three times as much A&G so that pack prices would stay low and more people could complete sets. This is the kind of set that can pull people back into the hobby, but it won't do much of that if it's scarce in retail stores and pack prices are over $3 (or $6, or $8 like at the local shop here). Of course, I also still think EVERY pack of cards should cost a buck or less and come with gum *grin*

If you can't afford triple threads or Sweet spot Classic, how do you buy all of these boxes of Ginter? Regular Sweet spot goes for $65ish and Classic is the same as Ginter.

<< <i>I opened 2 hobby boxes at $95 each, pulled a rip card, a print plate and a Bazooka back. Talk about crushing the odds! The Wang Bazooka sold for $100, the Pujols card from the Krod rip sold for $75. The Ausmus print plate is on ebay now 1/1.
I had my fun, played the lottery, made a little $$ in the end and now I just have to walk away from the table. Until I get sucked in again! >>





Wow, you are one lucky guy. I opened about 2 times as much as you did. The best I got I think is a mini No # Barry bonds, 1 Basic Auto, 3 bat cards. The Bonds no # is up for trade, I need flag cards. Anyone? LMK> Dave.
