Went by the local Tarzhay tonight on the way to my softball game - no blasters yet. Stopped by a Wally World earlier in the day - same result. Anyone else in California see any blasters in your local stores?
I found 6 more blasters at wal mart tonight. I pillowed 4 of them and bought 2. Pulled one common bat, but did get a Griffey no number and a Mantle mini! One blaster had 3 Frank Thomas minis and two Kinsler's. These retail packs seem a little odd to me.

Notes from my 4 blasters -The checklists have come out perfect. A set of 2 in each box. -I only have one Double from 4 boxes. Copperhead Snake -I hate the AROD cards, they look nothing like the set itself. -The A&G Black boarder Minis are really tough to find.

A Jennings auto out of a blaster? Great. See, Kevin, there is hope despite your dire predictions (although I don't hold any for myself since I have opened 5 blasters and nada).
I still need to sort through the final tally, but I finished opening my case last night, and was pretty pleased with how things fell out. The case had only three autos - Misty May Treanor, Tommie Smith, and Hanley Ramirez, plus the usual game used jerseys and bats (best one was probably a Juarez jersey), but the big hit came from the rip card. The card itself was a Piazza /99, but after deciding to rip it, the real surprise was inside - the wood 1/1 David Wright #370 card! Very neat card.
I'm hoping to put a dent in my sorting in the next couple of nights, so hopefully I'll have some trade/want lists up soon. If anyone's interested in any of the above, or if you guys have your trade lists up already, shoot me a PM and once I have things sorted, we can get down to some trading, which for me might be the best part of it all.
yeah Jennings is a HUGE pull, even out of hobby. Also the two snakes, which have been pulling only one per case out of hobby. My blasters have had zero in them.

I forgot to mention. Kudos to Topps for replicating the 1887 Quality control also. Many of my cards were diamond cut or miscut. Fortunately these were the 20 doubles so I can toss them without concern.

Just curious what everyone has been paying for hobby boxes now ? The local shop raised the price $10 on their last couple shipments. The stuff still seems to be flying off the shelves, every time they get some in, it barely lasts 24hrs.
I've seen BC Sports go from 4.00 to 4.99 to 5.99 a pack over about 4 days, but when they got 2 blasters in, they were only 19.99.
My local shop sold me all my hobby cards (little over a case) at retail minus 15% even though he could have made a hell of a lot more as his other case was gone within a week at $4.99 a pack. Even sold me his last 16 packs at my original pricing when he had $5.29 a pack on the box. Hats off to Tom at Pasttime here on the Cape.
My guy was at 95 for hobby, I asked for 2, when I got there it was at 115 for hobby. 12 hours/20 bucks. I got them for the original quote as i "pre-ordered" anything beyond 2 was at 115.....

Hobby for 85 is a steal right now. Id say anything under 100 is still worth it. If you all are at target make sure you find the card storage area. This is an area usually at the front of the store, usually at the last (seldom used) register. There will be big brown boxes with yellow tape on them. That is what you are looking for. Take your car key, rip the tape and the A&G should be in there. I try to go fast so employees don't start asking questions. If its on the floor then its for sale. This way you can beat the rush and make sure you have your boxes. So far I have seen 4 at target and 6 at walmart. My walmart is stocked during the day by a rep, so if you have old stuff and the isle looks like a mess, then chances are you haven't missed it.

You guys suck! I had no interest in these cards until I started reading this thread. Slowly started making me interested. Standing at walmart I see a retail box for $20 bucks so I had to see what the fuss was about. I never thought I would utter the words, "I got a Gandhi"... but I did. Now I have two hobby boxes on the way and the urge to buy more is growing.......THANKS! Also, did they dig up George Washington for a hair sample?
I've never been a big time collector... I got into 2006 A&G late, loved it, I only need a couple cards to finish the base set... took some time off from the "hobby" just before tax time...

I love it! And I'm not even getting any decent hits. Hobby packs, blasters... I'm gathering quite a collection of base and minis, but my best "hits" have been a Frank Thomas Bazooka back and a bunch of flag cards. No snakes, no emperors, no autos, etc. Just ordered a hobby box and hope my luck changes, but I doubt it.
Seeing the box breaks posted on Beckett has me jealous--especially the blaster hits.
Have you guys been to Youtube to check out the box breaks from TheBackStop? One couple got a Mantle bat in their box. Another guy got a Chen Ming Wang auto.
With blasters currently selling for $20, I can't pass them up. If I see one or two at Target, Walmart, Meijer, wherever, I grab like it's the 5pm free crack giveaway.
It's a fun set (Bruce Lee, Ken Jennings, Jack the Ripper!)... and gorgeous.... my birthday is next week and I plan to open that Hobby box and a couple blasters while chilling out in our hotel suite.

My "waiting" update. 7 blasters in and not a bite. Not a nibble. I'm in Florida right now and picked up three. 1 black. Other than the regular minis. 1 Black. Makes me a bit nervous about all the Retail I ordered.
I just came form Walmart and bought 1 pack. Got a Jermaine Dye Dick Perez Sketch Card. It says 1/1, is this true? First pack of this stuff I have ever bought.
no - all the sketch cards say 1/1. There's been quite a few douchbags trying to pass them off as 1/1 on ebay. though in hobby packs, you get one in every pack. In retail, they are about 2 out of 3 packs.

I think I'm finally finished with the sorting process, and I'm now working on lists. Is anyone working on the A&G back mini set, the black border mini set, or the black border no name mini set? Also, anyone putting together a relic set? Before I put those cards on eBay, I thought I'd put it to this group, since I'd much rather work on some trades than list on eBay. I still need a good number of minis (regular back) and a couple of handfuls of SPs from the regular set as well. If anyone's in trade mode, please shoot me a PM and hopefully we can go from there. Wow, love to see all the new collectors here...welcome! I have been making some great trades here. Ive told a few over on beckett to come over here too, Im not sure if they have yet. Im putting together the mini set. I have plenty of minis, black minis, A&G minis and GU to trade. Im looking to complete my mini set and looking for any autos. I'm waiting for my retail case before I start trading. I could get it as early as tomorrow. I opened a hobby case and 2 more hobby boxes, so I have about 190 different mini regular backs so far. I have 2 complete regular size sets (almost a 3rd) and I'm going to try to do the mini set with all regular backs, but I may mix in some A&G backs if I cant finish it in kind. I will probably be ready to trade early next week.

what you are looking for. Take your car key, rip the tape and the A&G should be in there. I try to go fast so employees don't start asking
questions. If its on the floor then its for sale. This way you can beat the rush and make sure you have your boxes. So far I have seen 4 at target and
6 at walmart. My walmart is stocked during the day by a rep, so if you have old stuff and the isle looks like a mess, then chances are you haven't
missed it.

no number parallels are 1:108 packs their print run is 50, Bazooka backs which are numbered to 25 pull 1:214 packs.

.... And now 2007 Allen & Ginter has pulled me back in!
I love it! And I'm not even getting any decent hits. Hobby packs, blasters... I'm gathering quite a collection of base and minis, but my best "hits" have been a Frank Thomas Bazooka back and a bunch of flag cards. No snakes, no emperors, no autos, etc. Just ordered a hobby box and hope my luck changes, but I doubt it.
Seeing the box breaks posted on Beckett has me jealous--especially the blaster hits.
Have you guys been to Youtube to check out the box breaks from TheBackStop? One couple got a Mantle bat in their box. Another guy got a Chen Ming Wang auto.
With blasters currently selling for $20, I can't pass them up. If I see one or two at Target, Walmart, Meijer, wherever, I grab like it's the 5pm free crack giveaway.
It's a fun set (Bruce Lee, Ken Jennings, Jack the Ripper!)... and gorgeous.... my birthday is next week and I plan to open that Hobby box and a couple blasters while chilling out in our hotel suite.
