Just got back from a trip across the pond to England, Belgium and the Netherlands. A nice break from everything so now I will see how jet lagged I am.

I hope to be posting a newp soon maybe by the end of the week. I will get a pic as soon as it is finalized.

Love those PL's. I estimate no more than 1/4 to 1/2 % of all mint state barber halves will have well-developed PL surfaces. At one time I had something like 5-6 of them, some in NGC PL holders and some in PCGS holders. PCGS has never designated PL on barbers.

The 09-S that Glenn has is one of my all-time favorites, and though replaced by a splendid MS 67 in my registry set, my former coin is one of my earliest acquisitons and I bought it raw in a 20th century type set. One of my first submissions to PCGS and it is a solid MS 64.

Currently, my 1894-O is my only strong PL coin, but the 12-D has some PL characteristic. I used to have two MS 64 1900-O's that both had great PL surfaces, but not as nice as Steve Duckor's Norweb MS 66 example.

Again, I can't emphasize how scarce PL barber coins are and they are very appealing to me, too.

Thanks for the kind words. These 3 are among my favorites as well just because as you state Dr. Pete PL Barbers are very rare. Dan, I have seen some beautiful seated PL coins as well and they are very hard to resist.

I have inquired a couple of times to PCGS about a PL designation the same as NGC and so far not happening. I should think one day PCGS will step up on other series designating PL on MS coins besides Morgans. Given the rarity of PL surfaces on other series, these coins in my view should be provided a PL designation. This is one area where NGC is definitely ahead.

Maybe someday as when I asked Ron about it at Denver he agreed. But agreement and implementation as we know are different things. In the meantime if I see a nice PL Barber Half I am sure interested, regardless of what the holder says.

Dan, I would love to see pics of any of your PL seated coins.

and I stumbled accross something very interesting.

The first coin posted below was sold on 11-7-2005.
The second coin was sold on 4-10-2006.

I guess there's hope for some of my BB halves...

Dr. Pete, MFH, this thread should never die...newbies like me will work to keep it alive. I have many new coins to share...some BB'd...some certified. Just last night I was reading about subjective grading...what a trip. Don S had a magnificient expose on subjective grading...I'm glad my cardiologist is objective...at least I think he is! Don, you can pipe in here anytime you want. Keep this line going...even though I haven't contributed lately, I still have a lot of Barbers to throw up...don't let it die...keep it going! More images coming!!

Very nice quarter, Dave. I'm still stuck on dirty ol' VF 50c pieces, so no competition on the MS quarters from here. This one is from the other thread and most recent addition from ebaY. New dates are coming rather slowly now, but that's OK.

Not a high grade coin, but can anyone see the cleaning on it (bodybagged by PCGS)?

Was it because of the rim dings?

I just purchased a 1915-S in PCGS 66 for my set. This date is impossible in MS 66. Only 5 with two better, and only Dale Friend has one other 66 that I know about. I am so glad I found the coin.

I just can't believe that NGC is so far out of the loop when it grades this series...usually they are very optomistic
with their grades. Most AU 58's are really 55's. Most 55's are AU 50- 53.

This grade-flation seems to carry thru on most of their assigned grades.

This coin is from its images, is at least an AU 53.

Gorgeous quarter. Don, love the look on that 1914-P. Dan, I found the 10-S very difficult to find. Love your example.

I note a new member on the Registry who has an 1897-S in XF45. I've sent the person an email. Does anyone know who is "Barry's Barber Halves"? I'd like to PM them as well. This person is off to a ncie start with lots of keys in place. I hope he/she is able to put up pics.

If anyone can help me out with making this trade, there is a nice Barber Half with your name on it from me for your efforts.

This would then leave me with just the 05-P in which I would pocket piece my AU50 for a little bit.
