Ebay and searching for coins

I am looking at a coin on ebay and I was wondering if it is proper to post the link here in this fourm to have some of you who know better than me tell me wether this coin is the real deal.

I am skeptical as this Morgan looks cleaned but it is slabbed but not by PCGS.

Thanks

problem with posting the link is you'll possibly get more competition.

If the coin is nice you'll likely increase it's hammer price and the amount of competition you get if you post the link here.

guess you won't have to worry about TOO much competition in THAT holder.

    Coin looks cleaned.

If you want a slabbed coin, start by searching this way: (PCGS, NGC, ANACS)

That's what I do whenever searching on eBay. It cuts out most of the complete crap, although you still get a lot of stuff from keyword spamming. There are just too many over graded coins in third rate slabs or raw to not filter them out.

As for the coin linked above, as already advised I'd stay away. Considering also that someone who is selling something like that probably is trying to rip someone off by advertising that it lists for ~$8000, but because he is nice he's giving such a great deal of only $800! image

I wouldn't say the coin is a POS, just a POS in an MS-63 holder. It is tough to tell from the picture, but I'd take a $50 risk on it. Looks too nice to call XF, but it may only net grade XF if it has been cleaned. Could be an AU.

The one time I posted something here it got WAY more bids than it should have!

Remember, if someone is alerted to something good, anything goes, and they can, will, and should bid. I won't post any of my findings. Now, after I get something, I might post to see if I blew it or not. You can definately trust the group here to know their stuff.

I sincerely concur. That is a third world slab to try and fool someone into thinking it's actually a certified coin. Run, run away fast.

Lower grade AU thats been dipped. Bright white AU coins just look goofy. POS sums it up pretty well.

The coin is cleaned and grades no higher than AU55. That's the good news.

The bad news is that the coin is damaged, reverse rim at K-4. So even if it weren't cleaned, it still wouldn't make it into top 2 plastic.

Avoid this aptly named "POS" if you value your hard earned money.
