My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

So I think I figured out my dilema and it wasn't my fault! The list of chromes he gave me did not match any of my trade list and I contacted a couple of you (thanks Dan and Jim) just to double check that they got the right cards. The bidder had bid on 2 lots of 2007 chrome that matched the list of cards he said he recieved from me and he had also left me feedback. Plus he said he recieved the cards a month after he sent payment which would never happened. He also left me positive feedback so I'm guessing he just forgot he recieved my cards.

So you can all quit laughing at me now!!!

Heritage Addict Yes sir, that is what I have been seeing since I first cracked my boxes on [actually] the day before street date...
The easter bunny bought me about 8 retail packs from Target and every one of the cards is clean, near perfect centering and only one or two cards with print splatter...
I am more and more concerned that the poor card quality seem to be in the earlier shipped Hobby Boxes....
Anybody else seeing bad quality control in Hobby and better quality control in Blasters ?
  • Options
The worst quality issues I've seen were in the normal retail packs, I've got probably one or two dozen cards that are creased through the middle of the card and all of those were the only one in the pack like that. I have noticed in my recent retail purchases that most of the print splatters seem to be cleaned up.

I was talking to Brian26. I PM him also. Thanks, Dave

Regarding the color variation issue, I noticed the same thing in my vintage '58 set. I've been trying to upload an example - can someone tell how to get a picture on here? Thanks.

Just sign up for free with photobucket.com (or any image hosting service), and then copy the [img] and paste it in your reply to the thread.

airstream56 - Did you get the PM with my address in it?

    nam812,
I'll try photobucket and see if I have any better luck, thanks. I did get your PM and you cards are shipping out tomorrow.

    rrpb76,
I just want to einforce what you observed. I also noticed a significant difference in splatter, centering, etc. btwn the hobby boxes I opened and the blasters. It was a small sample size, granted, but the blasters were noticeably better.

    Thanks,
    Rob

Here's one example of a color variation -maybe- in the vintage '58 set. I swore I was onto something when I "discovered" this. But my wife, being rational, was skeptical. There are mostly cards in the '58 set with dark green backgrounds, or light green, and just a few that seem in-between. This seems true for other color backgrounds as well. Maybe its just a case of more or less ink being used in an imperfect printing process? Or fading? I will say that, just like the new examples posted by HeritageAddict, whenever the color background is darker, the skin tones and the shadows are also uniformly darker...seemingly indicating that its just a printing issue? But the richness of the colors in the Hat, Cubs logo, etc. are the same when you look at these cards in person, though you might not be able to tell from the scan. So...I have no idea what this means.

What straws? I said that I dont belive it is a variation, but that the lighter/darker difference exists. After seeing some of the posts does it not exist?

The problem I have is that the entire card is lighter, not just the background, which leads me to believe its just a printing error...none
the less I love conspiracy theories more than the next guy!

Right. I agree all the way around. The color differences do exist. But like I said, "whenever the color background is darker, the skin tones and the shadows are also uniformly darker...seemingly indicating that its just a printing issue?..." However, someone else started this topic and since I also like conspiracy theories...image

But it isn't something that is limited to any card. Just a print flaw. I would compare it to some cards that come out OC more often that not or cards with print spots (Lowell).

I have already made my mind up. I am going with print flaw and ignoring the different shades. I collected the 05 lightback "set" because they were obviously variations. I don't think so with these darker and lighter shades.

I think this product has just about run it's course for this year. Apparently everyone who wants the sets and singles are just about finished.

On a side note that you guys might find interesting. One of my distributors who is fairly aggressive about researching future products called my this AM. He spent the last few days gathering information about 2007 Allen & Ginter. First the price will be much higher out of the factory, maybe as much as 25%. The print run will also be larger. He assumed that the autos will be about as difficult as Heritage. I do know last year we got 3 per 8 box Retail Case. He's working on the auto checklist, I will post when he gets one. I'm going to buy the product, but am looking to move it quickly.

Do you find the A & G as or more profitable than the Heritage?

Last year, sure. I know it's not Topps function to have value for case busters, but if they had made the SPs more difficult, and had a better Short Print checklist, it would have been a perfect product.

Maybe it's just me, but sports cards in general, and Heritage in particular require certain things to turn a profit.
You need to buy at least 30 cases.
    You need lots of labor.

I didn't mean to get this off topic. If anyone needs any Heritage SPs, I have 3 complete sets we're going to break up.

Well, the new beckett baseball came out today and it had the pricing in it. There was also a review by beckett guru Brian Fleisher. In
the article he said that heritage needs to cut the chrome cards and that collectors would rather enjoy pulling a few more SP's
rather than chromes. I personally think this is crazy, but Im curious what other people think about this. I would love to get the opinions
of the collectors here on this!

The only thing that surprised me in the pricing was the Ryan Howard Real one auto, which came out listed at 300.00!!! Thats twice
what the next nearest card books for. I can only see that one coming back down to earth expecially after his cold start this year.

Personally, I love the chrome cards. However, I could do without 3 variations of them. Maybe just a #/195x set that was actually refractorized. One thing I really like about the chromes sets is that in the past they have typically given you the best cards of the set. this year's chrome checklist is quite lame, imho. Where are the chrome jeter, ichiro, and a-rods? I mean, who wants a chrome team card for goodness sake?

Picked up a blaster at Target for no apparent reason, and one of the packs was really thick, so im thinking that its the gum in a wierd position or something, but the pack had 12 cards in it. No great story coming......11 base cards and a then and now. image

Two packs later a chrome on top, Moises Alou bat right behind it, and only 3 base cards.

The Heritage giveth, and the Heritage taketh away.

I for one like the chromes, from 2 retail cases I pulled all the SP's except one with 78 SP dupes so more SP's wouldn't do it for me. I still needed 70 chromes after the 2 cases.

I'll be working on the chromes, relics & past year's sets for awile yet.

The 1st few Howard autos went from $250-325 on eBay. The pricing now is more like $160-200.

Wow, very disappointing final sale for my first 2007 Heritage master set on Ebay tonight. $255. I think that is the lowest to date. Guess thats what happens for .99 starting. I had an offer of $330 for it when I put it up for buy it now but couldn't get back to the guy in time. Nice loss on that one. Oh well!

Just wanted to say thanks to all that have helped me out so far in my attempts to finish the 2006 Heritage set. I am almost complete - only have 10 cards to go...if anyone could help with the final few SP's...let me know - I would be more than happy to trade or even pay for the final few. I am in the process of opening a case of 2007, so if you would rather trade for 2007 - let me know what you need and I will see what I have (I haven't cataloged everything yet). Geordie,

That Martinez looks a little iffy. If I were you, I would buy another case or two and try to replace that one. Just my humble opinion.
