Heritage, my wife is a therapist, maybe I should send you her card. Although I guess it hasn't worked for me! I just bought a blaster at target. 4 sp's, 1 yellow, 1 chrome, 2 flashback/tn, 1 mantle - and i'm already done with the set!

Well, I've finally worked up the courage to make my first post....I'm so sorry, I honestly couldn't help myself. I can see that most of you are experienced collectors and have been members here for years, so please forgive me! I discovered this fourm totally by accident about a month ago. I've spent the past few weeks reading most of this thread going all the way back to December. I have apparently been living in a vaccum. I can't describe how cool it's been to read these threads and discover that there are others out there like me! I've been collecting Topps for...well, ever. Until recently I wasn't even aware of these forums, and this is the first year that I've ever collected Heritage. I am now officially addicted to both. Hi. My name is Rob...image

Well, anyway, please forvgive the monologue. You all seem to know each other, so I just wanted to introduce myself. I am now only 87 cards shy of my first master set of Heritage. I would love to trade with anyone here if you're willing to take the chance. I have extra yellow variations and SPs and refractors and stuff to trade...I'll ship first...so pease send me an email or a message if you're interested...Thanks!!

    All,

I feel kind of silly reaching out, but I just discovered that I am short Mantle card number 1. Of all the stupid things to be missing. Does anyone have a spare one just sitting around? Maybe I should go Addict's route and buy until I get it....

now that I think of it, that's genius....

If I haven't said it before, this was a h*ll of a lot of fun to work on and trading with so many great people here just made the experience all that much better. When does '08 come out again?

Hey dave (magellun), Don't tell HeritageAddict, but there is an 04 hobby case on the bay right now!

By the way has ANYONE heard back from topps regarding replacements of the print debris cards? I am just getting around to going through my 3000 base cards and am finding MANY cards that are only available with debris. This is really crappy quality from Topps. When they get around to doing the 1973 set in 2022, are they going to miscut all the cards just to remain authentic?
  • Options
Parker, I already saw the 2004 case and seriously considered it since I now need to build 2001-2005 sets, but I decided to hold off because I've been buying more vintage stuff.

I have already sent out your package, or I would of included a Mantle 1 with it, but I can send again no prob. If you can't track
it down yourself I have one.

I just wanted to remind everyone that I have a considerable amount of backstock from past heritage years. Im a bit partial to the
01 set, just cause I spent so much money on it and it costs ALOT today. Im also partial to the 03 set because I love that year..of
    course 02 was nice too.

I know the big hits are nice, but if there is anyone who is willing to trade autos or higher end GU for cards I can help you all out
on your sets. I dont mind trading above BV too if I am getting ink and you are getting SP's. I also am willing to fill in any base card
holes for free if we work a big deal out. I know that one case, for the most part will not get you a complete set. The 05 set is even
worse because of all the light backs. I just wanted to let you know that if you pulled ink you could get even more SP's.

Speaking of the felts.....right now I have them in postcard pages...I guess this is simply a page split down the middle so there is a
top pocket and a bottom pocket. I need a way to present these without flopping around. Any other sheet/binder guys displaying
their felts a certain way? Anyone including the Arods with their set too?

    Thanks
    Kevin

I would also like to piggyback on Kevin's thoughts - For those who are thirsting for the previous heritage sets, I have quite a bit of back stock in heritage (no big hits - no inks, relics, black refractors, however). Luckily for 2004-2006 you can still find unopened product at less than $75/box if you are patient so don't be discouraged. Seems this year there are quite a few new guys on the boards, which is great. I guess I could also be called a new guy in that I have only lurked here for the previous 2 years. This is the first year I traded, but its really a great community - salutes to all of you!

Lurkers and newbies, don't hesitate to post questions or pm me directly about heritage stuff.

Now, I just wish someone would listen to my 2001 lightback theory!! Come on, Kevin and Geordie!

Sorry, I got distracted on my previous post and forgot my real question:

How are you all putting your chromes in sheets? Putting them in 9-page sheets is fine, but they tend to curl a bit. I am considering putting them in fresh 3x4" top loaders, then putting the top loaders in those sheets that are divided into 4 pockets (3.5"x5" i think). So assuming toploader at .05 each, and the sheet at say .16 each and 4 cards per sheet, the math works out to .09 per card for storage. For the 110 card chrome sets, you'd have 28 sheets, 110 top loaders for a total cost of $10 plus the binder.

Am I being anal, or does anyone else do this or have even far better ideas? How well will they sit in the binder?

Sounds like a good idea with the top-loaders & sheets...only if the top loaders stay in the pages. Let us know if you decide to go that route. I used to store my chrome sets in top-loaders, but it was too cumbersome to look at and keep them in order, etc. I move to sheets this year and I'm using Cardboard Gold penny sleeves as I've found them to fit better than the Ultra Pro penny sleeves.

hmmmm light backs in 2001..yes Ill agree they are there but I don't think they are as obvious as the 05's. It appears that those
cards only happened on certain cards...actually just like the 56 set. Im not sure if there were lights or grays in the 52 set. If
anyone wants to compile a list ill check my cards.....wouldn't it be something to come up with an entire variation set 6 years after
    the release!!!

Hmm you guys with large inventory had better look closely at those thousands of 2007's because I still contend that there are lighter shade and darker shade backgrounds in this set. I have set aside 102 different card numbers with dark/light shade background colors... The Yellows are hardest to see and you have to look at the skintones of the players on those to see any difference... but they are there...

The irony here is that 2006 bowman heritage, which came out maybe 3 months prior to 07 heritage was supposed to have color
background variations. The were almost impossible to tell and topps came out and basically said they goofed! I find it funny that
in a product that was supposed to have no(?) color varitions, that we can all see some!

Anyone want to put together a checklist?

    Kevin,
I think the 2006 Bowmans "white parallel" were a poorly executed trial run for these 2007 Topps Heritage two shade backgrounds. And yes, Topps did screw up on the Bowmans, they were too difficult to find [as are the First Edition parallels in the Topps base sets].

As for a check list, I posted one in this thread along with my list of off center and print splattered cards.., I'll have to find it. I am thinking of doing a 2007 T/Heritage "Ugly base set" by putting all the o/c and spotted cards in a base set run. I may need some help on the "junk set" but not much from what I see.
    imageimageimageimageimageimage

Lastly, I was away in college when the '58 Topps were circulated so I don't remember first hand, but my son-in-law was collecting cards at that time and he said that he remembers the spotted and o/c cards and multi shade cards were the norm because he would put them aside and trade or flip them.

Funny thing, is that I was doing the same thing with my 1950 Bowmans. The Set I built is all mint [there is another story in this], but still contains some o/c's and blurred [poor print registration] cards. The other story is that my kids "misplaced" about 30 cards from the middle of the set that I just finished replacing off the 'Bay their condition is not mint needless to say

In going through my base cards to make an extra base set or two I noticed that all my #206 Andrew Miller cards have a circular indent over the LL in Miller. I wonder if it is just my 7 copies of this card (unlikely) or if any of you have the same problem. If you're bored and decide to check it out, let me know.

ok, I have two without that indenttation and three with. Centering on this card #206 is almost always off side to side

I have that same indent in the same place on all my #495 cards

Good morning. My guys have 2 to3 of every SP & Variation at auction. They've also set aside 3 Sets of SPs. They will make custom lots to fill sets. I guess I'm shilling their stuff, but it's for a good cause, and I get nothing. We just pay for the product, then are out of the loop. They're good kids, and could use the money.

<< <i>In going through my base cards to make an extra base set or two I noticed that all my #206 Andrew Miller cards have a circular indent over the LL in Miller. I wonder if it is just my 7 copies of this card (unlikely) or if any of you have the same problem. If you're bored and decide to check it out, let me know. >>

I didn't notice it, but you're right, 3 of the 7 cards I have posses the oblong indentation. Topps has got to start producing a better product. Maybe they should start by creating sometning called a Quality Control Dept. The more you guys talk about this, the more I get upset with Topps. If you think about this set run, there is really nothing that makes this a high end set, no fancy foil cards or special anything, just a good idea to go with the retro set. Now Topps is doing this with several sets and the print quality is no better than it was in the 80's. I'm hooked and would love to see quality improvement. Maybe Michael Eisner cares enough to upgrade process and presses.

    Rob, welcome to the thread
