Well, writers get low math grades anyway
    384+33+110=527
    527+35+42=604

They have to add two up in Boston for graft ... Regards, Charlie G

    << <i>Fellow Heritagers,
    May I be permitted to ask a silly question . . .
How many cards are in a master set?
    I know there are:

35 of the usual inserts (10 Flashbacks, 10 Then and Nows and 15 New Ages performers).
384 base cards (most people say 385, but there is no card #145)
    110 short prints
    33 variations (17 name and 16 team)
Do we agree that it adds up to 562
(And if you add the 42 Mantles -- they are '58 oriented, that makes 606).
    Is my math correct? >>

    Thanks Charlie,
Writers aren't accountants. I had 606, but I kept adding 604. That answers my stupid question. Thanks again.

Paul, Did you take any notice of the lighter shade background colors on some of the base cards ? I posted a list of what I had found some pages back [I sure wish they would add post numbers to this forum]
I also found a lighter color on the Jeter #5 but it is O/C and I'm going to try to get it replaced from Topps...
I posted a list too of the o/c's and print splattered cards on the same post. Did you find a lot of o/c's and splattered cards ? I will be trying to upgrade most of the bad base cards at a card show..
    Best Regards,
    Charlie G

I bought a new scanner today and figured I would give it a test run on some Heritage.

Does anyone have the address for mailing problem cards back to Topps? I got a Chris Duncan Jersey card, and there is a long ridge (like a bend and almost a crease) horizontally across the whole card about chest high. Also, if one of you savy wordsmiths have any tips on how to word the fact that I want a replacement, that will help too. Does Topps have a preference on how they would like to receive the card back, or is well protected inside a bubble mailer fine? Thanks for the help guys.

Sending it Protected in a bubble mailer will do, in most cases they will return the replacement in the same protection case. You will need to send a UPC from a T/Heritage box, an empty card pack and a receipt showing you purchased the box
You may have to wing it on the receipt if you don't have one...
Send it first class mail with Tracking, that way you can see that they received it..

EDIT Include your name and address and a list of the cards you are sending for replacement As demonstrated in the next post you have to point out sp's or special card identification, they don't always get it right. List product name and Year, refractors if applicable etc

    plmk how it goes

Anyone else got their replacement cards from Topps yet ? Any problems with getting replacements ?

    Regards,
    Charlie G

Did you send in a list stating that you were sending in yellow variations for replacement ? If so, send the replacements back with a copy of the original letter and the replacements letter from them to you .. they used to make good on their replacement mistakes
Did you have a receipt to send back ? Did you send in wrappers and a UPC like I mentioned above in your request for replacement ?

    Regards,
    Charlie G

How does this sound for my letter?

    To Whom It May Concern:

I recently purchased some of your retail boxes at my local Target store and one of the cards in a pack I opened was a Chris Duncan Clubhouse collection Jersey card # CC-CD. I am writing this letter because I was very disappointed to see a long crease horizontally across the center of the card from the left border all the way to the right border. To have such luck in receiving such a rare card like this one, and then only to see the damage that it had, was very disheartening. In hopes of receiving an equal replacement for this card I have enclosed the damaged card, the opened retail box, the opened pack, and my purchase receipt from Target. I really hope that you will be able to help in this matter, as I am a loyal collector of all cards produced by Topps, and would like to remain that way for years to come. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Sounds good to me. Be sure to include your address, phone #, card name, and card # and then the UPC, wrapper, reciept. If you have those things you usually can't go wrong.

Just finished opening a blaster and noticed that a card i pulled #60 which is Preston Wilson has a yellow team name but every list i've checked so far dosen't have this card as being a yellow team name variation.

Just wondering if anyone knew why

Nothing really notable in my box . . couple chromes, some sp's, Ryan Howard NAP, couple Mantles and some yellows

It's not a variation. It's just the way the card is. There are several throughout the set that have either a yellow team or player name. For a while I thought I was getting real lucky with my 5 David Eckstein varations.

I have a #322 Josh Willingham with Florida Marlins in yellow. Is this a variation? My other Florida Marilns cards have the name in white! I haven't bought enough packs to make a judgment but it's the only card I pulled that has the team name in yellow. Anyone have one with white team name?

THC69 Martinez ~ (all there needed / Chrome, Refractor and Black Ref)
    CC-VM Victor Martinez Relic
… But there could be more as I don’t have a total checklist of the Cho/Auto/Relics. It’s probably easier to just say “if you have an Indians special card please contact me!”
I’m also interested in past years Relics, Chromes, Autos etc…
(Contact me on these and we can work something out I imagine. I have 19Cho, 5Ref, 5Rel and money to complete a deal if needed)

Well after some monster rounds of trading I have cut down my list quite a bit, I just got done updating it, and I still have plenty of SP's for trade (that's because I bought 6 more blasters today and only pulled one card I needed). Anyway just thought I would let everybody know the list is current. Plus I need to figure out what set to try and put together next, I can't just keep buying cases of heritage the rest of the year, how are the Bowman Heritage? Suggestions for the next set are appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend this year's (meaning '06) Bowman Heritage, bit of a mess. Variations that were hard to tell, very poor quality control and mistakes, mistakes, mistakes.

Ok, well someone asked for some pictures a while back, and I realize they were asking for pics of cool pack pulls but I figured I would share these none the less.

I dont have much in the way of T58 cards (which I think is why I'm so excited about collecting this Heritage set) but I of course have some of my Indians and a scattering of other cards. I took these for a couple comparison shots on the 58 vs 07 set, hope you all enjoy...

(((ps, sorry for the glare on the Raines/Inglett card but I took 7 of that one and each and every one the flash did this : Funny since I put them in the same possition as the others ~ but what can you do when you have ghost messing with your cards...)))

Can anyone verify if the #76 Cole Hamels YTN and SP is the same as the #58 Nick Swisher YTN and SP wherein they both have the yellow team name in both cards, or does Hamels SP card have an "other than yellow" team name? I hope that makes as much sense as it did in my head. Thanks

The Hamels is definitely available with both yellow and white team. The Swisher is the only one in the set with the bold/regular font.

I bought 3 more blasters today (thats all they had image) and still no ink. I am begining to think that no ink was shipped to my area. I am over 40 blasters, 10 retail boxes and 12 hobby boxes. I did notice that the "Students Work Hard Get Cards" cards were in these blasters. That was the first time I got those from blasters.

I also had a pack that had 11 cards in it. I thought it was going to be a Clubhouse card. And speaking of Clubhouse Cards I am still looking for some and for the Flash Back Seat Relics. If you have any for trade please pm me.

Bunker, don't feel bad I'm in about 35 blasters in and no ink, and only a couple of relics, I've had better luck with the retail packs. Now all the retail packs are getting picked through though, so not much point in buying those in hopes of a getting any kind of insert. Well Walmart had 2 more blasters sitting on the shelf, I think I'm going to have to go get those, sure wish my retail case would get here......

I can understand why Topps did not want to deal with the Braves and Indians. But what about the Tigers?
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason.
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.

Hello to everyone. I am new here to the forum and was wondering if anyone could help me out with the final 26 cards I need for 2006? The list of the cards that I need is below....I am open to trades, but I am also willing to pay cash for these as well (I have been buying them off of EBay currently)....I am trying to finish this set up before my case of 2007 arrives next week. Anyways, thank you to anyone that can lend a hand...and if anyone needs any of the cards listed as "to trade" - let me know, I will be more than happy to help out.

    Thanks again.

24 Blasters opened so far.......and no base card #55. Thats over 1500 cards. WOW...is this a secret SP or something? I had to beg Heritage addict to include it in our trade, and he was nice enough to agree.

Do any of you guys have similar tough base cards (not SPs) after opening multiple boxes/cases?

On a much brighter note, blaster 22 did yield this baby

This really has been a fantastic time trading with old friends, and meeting some great new trading partners - I've successfully completed trades with all of the following people, and I'd recommend them all (if I've inadvertantly missed someone, it's certainly not personal, it's simply a matter of my historical message list cutting off):

    Munson15 - the father/son Yankee combo
tzahl - multiple trades, thanks Travis!
bunker - happy to deal again any time
tnp777 - Anyone that collects Brett Butler is a friend of mine
kmnorton - Yeah, I still owe you a Cobb...
MikeyLikesIt - Fond memories of the cereal commercial, and a great trader
softparade - multiple trades, and some quality commiseration over a beer from a distance
    fiveniner - another great trader
beef316 - multiple trades I think, very speedy
MS70Dreams - I envy the single team focus
rrpb76 - Charlie, your passion for cards is very clear!
paleocards - would be happy to trade with again
brian26 - Chicago based - ships like the wind!
parker25 - a great guy, hope to trade again

Again, if I've missed anyone from this year's trading (so far that is, I'm still hoping to do more, especially my annual trade(s) with Magellan when he gets back!), I apologise, I haven't had a single experience that's been less than flawless.

I still have these cards AVAILABLE to trade:

    Mantle: 25, 30, 40
    NAP: 13, 14
    FB: 3, 9 (2)

    Refractors: 69, 100

    Chrome: 14, 29, 42, 60, 70, 80

    YTN: 13, 20, 58W
    SP: 31 (2), 159, 239, 275, 294, 393, 437, 465, 482

    Still looking for:

    Mantle: 10, 15, 26
    NAP: 2

    Chrome: 56, 66, 83

    SPs: 5, 150, 168
    YTN: 2

    And Clemens base cards.

Please send me a PM with offers/ideas, thanks

Im hoping to get 2 hobby boxes at a show this weekend (a show being cheaper than a card shop I think) for $50 to $55 each.

How much did you "overpay" for them Kevin?

Joe that sounds good, and I know what your talking about by paying to much every now and then, but hey when you've got the itch to open something right now you can't wait to order some. Retail sure has been better for me than hobby, but not the blasters, I've bought a dozen blasters in the last two days and only pulled one clubhouse and two chromes. Not only that, but four out of twelve blasters were identical give or take a card or two. I'll stick to ordering the cases, I've got a retail case coming the first of the week, think I'll order a couple of 2006 cases Monday.
  • Options
    If anyone is interested I have the following chromes for trade. 105 101 100 98 91 89 86 84 79 77 72 71 69 67 65 63 60 59 57 51 47 42 40 39 38 36 35 34 31 30 27 26 20 18 17 15 14 13 11 9 4.

    I NEED CHROMES : 3 16 21 23 29 46 55 58 78101 102

I NEED SEAT CARDS: Bunning, B.Robby , Spahn

    I could also use the following SP's to fill another set: yellow names : 8, 23 30 60 61 65 87 92 98 . yellow teams: 2 11 13 20 50 52 76 77 sp's :49 58 ( thin print)59 139 167 221 311 329 357 384 383 411 419 437 438.

I don't trade here too often but can provide references if necessary.

I would be too much embarrassed to say how much I spent, I think it was mentioned, when you have the itch you can't worry about that.
If the freaking targets and walmarts had blasters I wouldn't of had to go to such extreme measures!! I just have not been able to feed
my habit with what has been here.

The trend I have noticed is that the early blaster boxes have been loaded but after that is it almost impossible to pull anything decent
from later offerings. I think we have reached that stage now. I think the best bet now if you want to bust wax are retail 24 count boxes
and hobby boxes under 55 a pop. I know its hard to put down the blasters, but Ive seen this countless times. Topps just unloaded what
is left.....sp's and maybe a few chromes.
