2005 TOPPS HERITAGE CARDS FOR SALE

Guys- I stole this entire post from John Basilone, but that is about par for the course when it comes to this set. I thought it would be easier for everyone to use a familiar format.

It is time to sell off all of my 2005 Topps Heritage extras. I wanted to offer them here first before listing as lots on eBay.

    Rules:
    1) First Come First Served.....Please PM me or Email me directly if you want to purchase cards.
    2) Paypal is the preferred method of payment (I will ship the same day or the next morning).
    3) SHIPPING IS ONLY $1.00.... whether you buy 1 card or 40 cards ... you only pay $1.00 TOTAL for shipping. (much better than paying $2-$3 per on eBay) Also, if we have already traded Heritage, then I’ll pay for the shipping.
    4) Prices are firm.

Keep it up good work guys. I'm stuck to buying centered duplicate refractors on eBay.

I also completed the 6 card Hawaii promo set a couple of weeks ago.

2 Bonds and 4 Arod Heritage cards numbered to 100. The gold envelope that comes with the card is basically a piece of cheap gold paper with the Topps Heritage log on it...no other infomation is listed on the envelope so no big deal if you do not get one with your eBay purchse.

Anyone pick up the MJ Roop binders for the 05 Heritage set yet? I got it for my 04 set and it's a really nice set up. They have a 2 binder system this year for the whole master set, just wanted to see if anyone had any additional info about this.

While this is off the topic of '05 Heritage, it is still a Heritage card. Just when I was about to call Topps and get an update, this came in the mail today. I pulled the redemption card out of a box I busted a few months ago. It's a pretty clean card, with the exception of that ding in the lower right corner. Not too happy with that....

Any idea on what it might bring? I checked my 2004 SCD annual - no price listed.

Thought I'd keep this monstrous thread alive and update all interested on my experience with Topps replacing Heritage cards this year. I returned about 550 cards with dinged corners, serious print flaws, or poor centering. I guess it's inevitable that retro cards are going to have retro issues. At any rate, three business days after I sent them all in for random replacement, I got back 530 loose cards Monday. I thought this was interesting, given that I'd heard Topps often sends back unopened packs for large replacement lots. They shorted me 20 cards, but since SP's were included I'm not complaining. Of the 530 cards, I got 435 base set graybacks, 38 SP's, 56 Light/White Backs, and one New Age Performer. Very few cards in this lot of 530 arrived with corner dings and most were well-centered. Overall, I'm very pleased with the turnaround and Topps' willingness to take care of problems on these cards. I sent back every box bottom from this year's purchases with the returns.

I've had mixed results so far on card-for-card replacement. I don't really care for Topps packing and shipping habits....Sending back a lot of 25 cards in a team set bag and bubble envelope with no other protection is asking for dinged corners. In many cases, the cards I've gotten back are worse than those I sent in. I think Topps has been taking lessons from the eBay dorks who ship back cards in soft sleeves and regular size envelopes. They don't seem to like it when you send back in cards that got beat up because they didn't pack them properly either.

I hope this info is helpful to anyone else thinking of sending in cards for replacement. Good luck on your sets, guys.

    -Todd-

hustle..Topps used to send 100 dollar autographs in just an envelope!! Lets say they have evolved a bit..you would think it
is just easier to ship them in a good way the first time rather than having to replace a card twice! Then again people who
score highly on their SAT's don't go to work for topps!

mudflap....I have 4 blacks 3 04's and 1 05...thome, luis gonzo, and balluli from 2004 and some braves rookie from 05...I ll have to
    check

Just busted 2 boxes of hobby and they were both odd breaks for me.

Box 1: 13 Sps, tons of white backs, normal ammount of chromes and inserts. I pulled an SP or insert out of every pack except for one. The pack that I didn't pull anything didn't have gum in it, anyone else have this happen? I also noticed that every pack that had white backs had the first 6 cards being white backs, then an SP/insert then grey back. Is this always that way? No game used or ink in this box.

Box 2: 2nd pack Brett Boone black 25/56. Normal amount of everything except no ink or game used again. Is the insert/SP always the 2nd to last card or were those just my boxes?

Inserts are always 2nd to last (for this year at least). Makes it real easy to rifle through a box or two.

Hmmm. I sent 54 commons to Topps on Monday for random replacement. I have ripped about 500 packs of this stuff, so you know that I was not overly critical. I also sent them about 20 UPC codes from a combination of hobby and retail boxes. I told them about the one blaster box I opened that had no SPs or inserts. In fact, it onlyhad two packs that contained eight cards (the other packs had six). I included that UPC with the entire box flap so that it would include the little red number that is stamped inside.

Today I received a package from Topps that included a blaster box, a single pack, a set of NAPs, a set of TNs, 10 chromes and 5 refractors. They also included a letter that said they could not replace my commons because the damage did not occur in their factory. Huh?

I am happy with what they sent me, but I also have about a dozen (again, not too picky) SPs that I had planed to send for specific replacement. I am sure that I will send them, but I am apprehensive. They have the same problems - both condition and mechanical - as the cards they refused to replace.

Sorry about the long post griping about less than $50 worth of modern cards.

    Thanks - Jim

Ryan, we are all in the same boat with Heritage. I have 15 of one or two base cards and had trouble finding others. It is not the easiest set to complete.

Does anybody have a number 61 Bonds grayback with four sharp corners, well-centered, and no factory "crimp line" running through the card? Every single Bonds (graybacks anyway) I've pulled this year has the crimp line. The crimp line I refer to runs in about the middle of the card top to bottom horizontally and is visible only when the card is tilted under a light. I've seen this defect on many other cards in the set, but it tends to be toward the left edge of the card. I am interested in just one beauty of this card for my master set. I've got about 3k dupes to trade. Shoot me a pm if you're interested in trading.

    Thanks,

    Todd

That's the beauty of an auction, when two people want something badly enough. If you look at the bid history, only two people bid more than $5.10. If not for both of them, your auction would've sold for $5.35. What's more, the person who won bid again at the end to make sure he would win, who knows what his high price was. Either way, pretty nice chunk of change for that card, maybe your perfect feedback impressed them.

    THANK YOU MUDFLAP!!!
After opening over 500 packs from all available sources, I had swithed my spending from Topps Heritage to Harley Davidson accessories. Well, with the checklist revelation, I permitted myself to stray. I stoppped at TRU during lunch and bought ten packs in hopes of getting checklists (knowing full well that I most likely have them at home). In about the fifth pack there was a checklist as well as a RO-JG Greengrass blue auto 54/56. Ironically the ONLY other auto I've pulled is a Greengrass red auto.

Finally, I was down to the tenth pack - most likely the last pack of 2005 Heritage I'll open. Lo and behold there was another checklist and behind it sat a RO-HA Hank Aaron blue auto 54/56. I will post scans tonight when I get home.

    Thanks Mudflap - Jim

    Holy cow-

Nice pulls AS! I'm down to less than 20 cards or so to finish my set, so the only thing that keeps me buying wax is trying to pull an auto. I'm playing right into Topps' hands.

On a side note, I had some nice Heritage stuff in the mail today. An 02 Dual GU Maddux Mathews card. I thought these were supposed to be numbered to 53, but this one isn't. It does have the hologram though. I only paid $38 for it, and the BV is 150 I think. The seller sent it in a penny sleeve and a bubble mailer - that's it! Huge chip on the left side, but for $38, I'm not sure if I want to send it back. Also got what I think is one of the coolest looking cards in the 05 heritage set - Sean Marshall Black Refractor. As soon as I got the base card, I knew this ref would be at the top of my list (completely black background). I was able to pick up the chrome, ref, and black of this card for about $15 - score! I'll post a scan in a little bit.

Very nice cards - here's the Marshall, but it pales in comparison. He is one weird looking guy.
