I added this to my set over the weekend. It replaces a VF details graded coin. Probably 3 more upgrades and the 01S and Ill call it completed for now.
Pittsburg ANA WFoM picture from day one at the Barber Coin Collector Society booth. Mike Hays would come to these regularly and August is the month we remember him. Today is close-up day.
Traffic for the bourse floor built up more as the week progressed. John Frost and I will be writing up an article for an upcoming BCCS Journal about an interesting table walk-up of an 1892-micro O Barber Half Dollar with either obverse-side lamination or a cracked planchet of sorts from about 8 o'clock to 4 o'clock all the way across Liberty's portrait. The owner received this coin by inheritance outside of Morgantown, PA.
EDIT: PM me if you want to join the Barber Coin Collector Society (barbercoins.org). You get 4 home-delivered issues of the Journal for $15.

The 06-S has been the lowest pop half in VF for a long time. Now that was 10 plus years ago, things could have changed since and I could be talking out my butt. probably should back that up again with some actual data.

I put the 04-S away today. I couldn't help myself but to take a picture of some of her new friends.
The toughest VF half is in that picture and it isn't the 04-S.
What a nice group. For me the 04-S is somewhat overrated. It's a tough coin, no doubt. But I would rank a few coins in VF-AU as tougher. In your group I would say the 01-S is your toughest. The 01-O is very tough in XF-AU, the97-O is another among others, particularly if you want a sticker. Thanks for sharing such a nice group of ladies.
Well Doc, Not a '96-S here... but here is an 1895-S Barber Half I obtained out of the ANA Summer Seminar from Front Range Coin in Colorado. I don't think I've shown this one yet...

Thanks for the work on provenance!
Love the look. Great example!
Added one this week. Apologies for my not so ideal photos.
@CircOnly, that '04-S is at a nice grade level in that the LIBERTY headband is still readable and visible. I like the circulated grime. Good job!

I'm looking forward to your write up, Tim. I wish I could have made this show.
I actually met Mike at the 2011 Fall ANA show in Pittsburgh 15 years ago. It sure doesn't seem like it was that long ago.
Thinking more about the newly surfaced 1892-O (micro-o) find from the show...
Not the same coin... DLRC has a cool mini-video of another MS63 1892-O (micro-o) Barber Half Dollar.

I don't ever remember seeing a CoinFacts image such as the one for this PCGS MS63 micro-o coin:

I’m gonna guess either the 92-S or the 01-S without looking

I won this one recently and thought Id share. I think I am going to try and build a date set. Maybe one day Ill be able to finish it.

@CircOnly Show me your '96-O and '96-S and I'll get a bit excited!

Jed, you have some awesome '96-O quarters! You have some excellent specimens there!
The '96-S quarter is too expensive for the budget-minded Jason vs. the quality of available coins. IMO. - Tim
