I would not be surprised if the kind lady is simply a contract worker provided by another company and has never been to any US Mint and doesn't know much about anything beyond her training.

Rumor? I think that has been established as fact.
Although it was not publicly announced, such things would not be, as they are internal Mint employee issues that the Director has discretion to do and there are only 1500-1700 employees that would be involved, so a very small number of the 250,000 coins. But, I think that it has been sufficiently established, particularly in light of the letter of July 1, 2026 to mint employees from Director Hollis:

I appreciate the discussion around the posted letter! With 1,700 mint employees, thousands of tourists on mint tours, and millions of collectors, it feels like someone here must have a direct connection.
When I called the mint, the employee was unaware of the gift/letter. If anyone else here has had a chance to chat with a mint employee—or knows a neighbor or friend who works there—I would love to hear what they told you!
Until we get that direct verification, it is tough to know what is official and what is just online opinion. Has anyone been able to confirm the letter directly with an employee?

I assume that when you "called the mint" you probably were speaking to the customer service people at a vendor or fulfillment center. They were presumably not involved with the mint employee recognition/bonus.

I think that it would have been nice to put the date on the insert of when it was certified, since it was "first" by NGC. The same for PCGS as well. I wonder what kind of premium these would have for each TPG? Did ANACS, ICG, etc... get in on this?

For the W quarters there was significant premium for my PCGS First Discovery quarters.
I expect the same for this one and the one certified by PCGS.

That's what I would guess... that they will correct it when they run out of the incorrect ones. Unfortunate as that paper can't cost that much to just toss. And you'd think they wouldn't want to continue putting out incorrect labels. I have some in for grading now, hope I get the correct ones, we'll see!

I agree with you. I am not sure how to proceed with sending mine in for grading. We pay top dollar for their service and this is unacceptable in my opinion.
Reminds me of the scene in the movie ELF when James Caan authorizes the book to be published with 2 missing pages hoping no one would notice!
